Howdy!
Generation 8 is pretty much ****in done, so I'll run through what I thought of each game real quick.
In reverse order!
Holy ****, what a change of pace!
The shake ups to the gameplay were rad, the setting is amazing, and it's just a blast to play. Easily the most fun I've had with Pokemon in a while. I hope we get a Legends Zygarde or something, PLEASE.

The remakes of all time.
I talk a lot of ****, but at the end of the day I don't think they're bad. Just clunky and janky when they didn't have to be, all in the servivce of being as faithful to the originals as possible. Even though when people say they like Sinnoh, they're really talking about Platinum.
Really wish we got ORAS style remakes...

These games meant so much to me, before they even came out.
Not to get to personal, but I was having a really rough time back then. The promise of Pokemon on the switch was one of the few things to bring me joy, as silly as it sounds. And when Sword and Shield were finally properly announced, I was smiling the whole day.
Obviosuly the good times didn't last.
I defended the game through all the arguments. All the memes about trees and the screaming about dexit. All the obnoxious fandom bull**** that I really should've ignored, but instead I dived headfirst into it because goddamnit, this was MY game! This was the game that got me through that rough patch, and I was gonna stand by it no matter what!
It was tough, and annoying, and disheartening. Obviously no one asked me to do this, but I felt like I had to.
And you know what I got for my efforts? You know what nearly two years of emotional turmoil both online and irl amounted to?
THE MOST MID GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED IN MY LIFE
That's not to say it's all bad, SwSh has some good qualities. The Wild Area was a good first step into open world design, and the dlc is actually pretty enjoyable. But man, Sword and Shield is just the skeleton of a Pokemon game with no meat on it's bones.
It's honestly hilarious how it turned out. I swore this game would be the pinnacle of my existence, and I was given basic ass Galar. That's what I get for getting so invested in vidya games
This generation definitely had it's ups and downs, but it laid the foundation for the future of the series. I can respect that.
But enough about the past, it's time to look to the future!
