I think my least favorite thing when it comes to talking about game artstyles is when someone says “why don’t they make it look exactly how it looks on the box/art?”
To me it’s just such a boring argument that people seem to have all the time (specifically with Zelda, it always happens with every Zelda game).

Baby Pokemon should have benefits over the fact they can't breed. Like if you have an Azurill that evolves into Marill, it'll have a benefit that catching a regular Marill wouldn't. Just my two cents.

There's also the fact that they can be placed on early routes without breaking the game like a Route 1 Electabuzz/Magmar could.

On the one hand, a lot of baby Pokemon have weak design concepts that don't really add a lot to the Pokemon they are based on.

On the other hand, Gen 4 baby Pokemon so yes.

Well, they can give pokemon that have base forms a bit too powerful for the early game better availability. A lot of Gen 4 babies did this.

The biggest and most obvious example being Munchlax. If you could catch Snorlax early game it'd be pretty game breaking early on.

Then again SV lets you catch an early game Flamigo so...
