Well… you know… something kinda big happened last week… feels kind of wrong to do something fun that also glorifies corporations and their actions after… that…
What, are they supposed to cancel anything remotely fun because of the election?

Like it or not life has to go on. If something bad happens in the next 4 years try and do something about it, even if that just means keeping yourself and those you care about safe. But avoiding anything and everything that might spark a hint of joy while trembling in fear won't change anything.

And I don't even like The Game Awards, but you've got me defending them. How dare you.

Having a democratic or republican government won’t affect the discourse of which AAAA slop + 1 indie game is the best vidja of 2024. :jojo:

I need to hear your musical guilty pleasures, cause I'm currently battling a severe guilty pleasure for the music of Skillet.
I have no guilt in the music I listen to, there is no hate but what we make

but I have to say, admitting to actively listening to music done by a vtuber idol group can get a bit awkward.

No shame in that my friend, Ska rules.

I recently started listening to the artist Jeff Rosenstock and his old band Bomb The Music Industry this year and it proved that fact to me tenfold

I wanna go back in time and (among other things) tell Nickelodeon to make sure they get the rights to the Pokémon anime and to hold on to that ip for dear life for as long as they can.

I've gushed about how good of a villain Lila Rossi is already - but, what is a top-tier villain without a top-tier hero? Behold the GOAT

Marinette is one of the greatest protagonists I've ever seen. She's one of the most multi-dimensional main characters in a cartoon, and is very true to life. She's a flawed teenage girl with obsessive, clingy tendencies, extreme clumsiness, a tendency to speak without thinking, functions terribly under immense pressure, forgets how to speak in front of her love interest, and SCREAMS a whole lot. ...a lot like MANY teenagers. We've all acted like Marinette at several points in the past - I still find myself acting like her now and again (she's one of the most relatable characters out there, at least for me). And with all the insane responsibilities she has to face as a Champion of Paris, who wouldn't screw up at several points? And the effects of the pressure she feels in the later seasons are incredibly realistic. It's perfectly reasonable that she has a few issues. But it's how she makes up for them that counts.

And BOY does she. While her mistakes do have genuine consequences (the show's entire premise is how people left scorned by someone else's mistakes, misdeeds or bad nature get temporarily corrupted), she'll do anything to fix what she does wrong. And despite what the "fans" of MLB tell you, she's got a lot of good elements to her. She's kind, compassionate and is always thinking of others before herself, even when she has every right not to, and she always has their best interests at heart. She's also INCREDIBLY intelligent. She's a capable thinker, able to come up with the wildest and yet cleverest of solutions to her problems both as her civilian identity and as Ladybug - heck, capable and inventive problem-solving is an important part of using Ladybug's powers to their best. In fact that's a big factor in the show in general - intelligence and quick wits are often just as powerful, if not moreso, than brute strength, even though strength is important at many points too.

Did I mention Marinette is just hilarious? Like her hammy overreacting, fast animation, silly tendencies around Adrien, creative and goofily-animated imagine spots and general neuroses just make her REALLY entertaining. Anime and video game acting superstar Cristina Vee was the PERFECT choice to voice her in the English dub. Having the more laid-back and calm Alya as her foil and best friend makes it even better.

Even though Lila's my favorite part of the show, Marinette is definitely my biggest comfort character in MLB. She's just a girl I'd LOVE to hang out with in real life.

Tikki, spots on! :happysheep:

-Toothless looks accurate instead of a hideous caricature of the original

So many other live-action remakes (Disney or otherwise) have had this exact issue and Dreamworks prove it's easily avoidable just like that.
It still kinda bothers me tbh. A realistic world would not produce toon animals. I know it doesn’t bother other people, in fact they pitch a fit when they do it any other way, but I think it just doesn’t work.

That's why you need a decent blend of both the original design and realism.

I feel like Detective Pikachu captured that effect best. It captured the designs of the actual Pokemon, and translated them into something that still looked like them, but also something that looked real and like it could actually be there beyond the film they appear in. I'm not sure if there's room for improvement with how that film in specific did it, but it certainly translated a cartoonish, 2D creature into live-action far better than most other films (particularly Disney ones) had before it.

I swear every time someone says HTTYD I think Hapermario The Thousand Year Dear instead of what it actually means

I'll bite, what hot take did you come up with to give you this opinion?
