I sent a commission request to a Japanese artist via the Skeb service and it was approved just over a week ago.

I look on the artist's Twitter today and I see them make a remark in response to my request as they start to work on it that roughly equates to "What the heck!?" Not sure if that's a promising reaction or not...

Well, what'd you request? lol

Different artists prob have things they specialize in more than others.....cough cough, and also, probably getting a request from a foreigner may surprise them.

I still have no idea how to improve the background image for my game

My pixel art teacher recommended I use a gradient but it's really hard to use and I still don't know how to make it look interesting but also consistent with the rest of my game's art style

Some Pokemon fan art. The artist specializes in imitating Ken Sugimori's art style, so I asked some obscure characters from spin-offs/related media. Nothing NSFW or anything. It's mostly just a funny reaction considering they approved my request just over a week ago.

Actually Skeb is designed primarily with foreigners in mind. It certainly helps, but a full grasp of Japanese isn't required. The service uses DeepL, which is miles better than Google Translate. About half of the artwork posted is from English speakers making requests. Japanese artists are also allowed to send Appeal Requests to English speakers, either seeking business, offering a discount on their services, or sending complements/ideas.

The only catch is that you cannot communicate with the artist regarding the request. So if they deliver something that's not up to snuff, then it's tough luck. AI Art is banned though, so if an Artist gets caught, they get immediately banned/fined and you get a full refund. You are free to chat with the artist on Social Media after the request is delivered though.

If it doesn't hurt when resting, it's probably not broken. But it's probably better if you go see a doctor either way.

Oh dear god Disney is doing episodes 9-12 of Star Wars.

Disney just STOP!!!!

It's bad enough they already ****** Luke Skywalker over. What's more they can screw up?
Disney has already dug themselves too deep at this point. The chance to turn back and potentially undo mistakes are long gone........

Heh. He thinks we’re actually gonna have another election in 4 years
I thought the same thing, which is why I did my research.

Elections are held at a state level, not a federal one. They can’t stop the states from holding elections. Additionally, it’s in the constitution that there must be an election every 4 years.

To change that would take another constitutional amendment. Which would require an overwhelming majority of people (including democrats) to vote in favor of it, and would then require a majority of states (including blue ones) to vote in favor of it. A process that would take nearly a decade.

Assuming the democrats do good in the midterms, which is likely to happen as the parties tend to trade off between each election, they only have two years of a narrow majority to try and stop elections from taking place. They simply do not have the time to accomplish that. Not to mention the optics would be terrible, hindering their chances of getting elected legitimately.

There’s plenty to be worried about, I’m not telling you it’s all gonna be sunshine and rainbows. But logically speaking there will be an election in 4 years.

Hate it when people fearmonger about elections not being held.

My mom does this constantly, she's worried that both Trump and Netanyahu will be able to change their respective countries' laws to the point there will no longer be elections when in reality it's going to be nigh impossible to make a change like this go unchallenged because there are systems in place to prevent that and people will get riled up if a leader tries to do that.

Fascism will not win at the end

Came upon this and felt its time for a new background desktop change!

I just can't get enough of the Akhlut, one of my favorite mythological creatures. Also just purchased a novel on it a few days ago called Terror Lake that just came in with my two other novels today Helicoprion and The Palaeontologist. :D

What's wild is that statistically Gen Z voted more for democrats than Millenials did so idk why Millennials are acting morally surperior.

Shoot, maybe I'll understand when Gen Alpha can vote
I heard we had a really poor voter turnout this election because of a few key issues that both parties spoke poorly on. So that might be what they’re ******** about. But I don’t really know.

I voted blue down the ballot. I can’t understand how anyone with a conscious could have done anything else.

The insane part is that the outcome of this election and the criticism from older generations is gonna make Gen Z less likely to vote in the future. **** feels bleak as hell and the worst part is that we have no control over it, and yet people blame us.

I may not be American but as someone who barely remembers any prolonged period of her life not under Netanyahu I can defibutely relate to the feeling of despair that comes from voting only to lose and get the worst case scenario.

Tbf a lot of Gen Z already didn't vote, but that was cause the policies and fencesitting were not popular at all. I mean, heck I almost didn't vote cause I kinda lost hope that a considerable change would be made (I did before someone gets on me).

Can't exactly blame you cause even though I voted every time I also know what it's like to not have good candidates. Feels like no major politician actually wants to make the world a better place these days

I’m a socialist and strongly oppose a ton of things Harris said/did, but if I lived in a swing state I would have voted for her. I voted blue downballot in California. Ultimately the Democrats are the ones that lost (what was in my opinion a very winnable election - about 300k votes in the Rust Belt decided this) and should be the ones to direct your ire at. But more importantly I would say people should start organizing with their local communities and build real coalitions of power. Nobody is coming to save us. We have to fight for ourselves.

Feels to me like you can blame any number of people depending on how you spin it. I can name 4 off the top of my head but it doesn't matter cause it's not gonna change the results. You just have to fight.

Sorry if I seem too overly invested in this election for someone who isn't from the states btw, it's just that this affects me too and I can really relate to this situation

Nah you’re totally valid. The whole Gaza situation is gonna be even more of a mess now.

IIRC you’re from that part of the world, you have every right to be concerned.

Going to protests is currently my way of fighting, people may think of us Israelis as opressors but a lot of us despise the government and thought it should have been torn down before this whole mess even started. If you ever see a protest being organized in your local community (likely to happen a couple times in the next couple years, espexially for those of you who live in blue states) I strongly suggest attending
