Least favorite meme is definitely that iceberg stuff, simply because it floods Youtube and I'm sick of seeing it in my recommendations. Also the crappy "Nobody:" meme. I don't know if it's from 2020, but man, it's just annoying and next to never adds anything to the actual joke.

Not sure about a favorite meme though.
that iceberg stuff is a meme? Coulda fooled me.

The problem with the Iceberg stuff is that some peoples are cleary reaching at straw to make them for some games/show/etc..., resulting in alot of fake stuff that can be easily disproven, even if you don't know much about the media they're talking, or just jokes that you can't understand because they're like inside jokes within the community that somehow managed to get on the iceberg

The concept is cool, and some can make it work, but in all, the iceberg stuff just doesn't work as a trend.

Me when we go another year without a brand new DKC game:
With Retro Studios being busy with Metroid Prime 4, I've been thinking a lot recently about which studio could work on the next DKC Game in the meantime.

Maybe Next Level Games? They have the skills to make visually amazing games on the Switch, which would go well with Donkey Kong.
But idk if they could shine as much with a platformer as they did with Luigi's Mansion 3.

Next Level Games could work, I suppose. They might not be as experienced with making 2D platformers but I still think they could pull it off.

Maybe WayForward or Good Feel would be good choices as well.

I watch this Youtube channel, Thorgi's Arcade, because I like his videos about making rosters, and I figure this one might interest some people.

It's over an hour long, but I'll give it a watch and see if it introduces me to any games that I might not have heard of otherwise.

Gamers it is time for me to do another gamer hypothetical roster for gamers. Dis time it's Sega All-Stars Racing 3

-Transformations are returning

-However, I consider the driving in ASR1 so ****ing fun that I'd like the car sections this time around to feel closer to that than what we got in Transformed

-Sega Miles are returning because, in all honesty, I absolutely hate how in Transformed you have to get stars in World Tour to unlock the characters, to the point that in some of the later unlocks you have to pull off some crazy **** to get them when I prefer ASR1's much simpler approach of "if you got enough monies from just playing the damn game, you can get whoever you want right away"

-The Sega shop is also returning as a result, this time entailing characters, music tracks, and stickers you can slap on your vehicle ala CTR:NF that can serve as additional cool references to Sega's history

-Get Takenobu Mitsuyoshi (aka the DAYTONAAAAAAAAAA guy/Sega Rally guy/Sonic Mania Time Attack guy/F-Zero Medley guy/etc) as the announcer. The JP version of Transformed did that and I think it's a genius idea, a wonderful callback to Sega's classic arcade racer library

-The new flagman is Professor Asobin. An extremely obscure grab, I know, but he gets by on account of being a potential contender for the title of Sega's very first character
Ok so this time around we're doing 44 characters:

-30 veterans
-3 newcomers from already-represented franchises
-8 new IP reps
-1 super duper secret character
-2 brand-new guest characters

Let's get right onto the veterans:
1. Sonic
2. Tails
3. Knuckles
4. Amy
5. Big
6. Shadow
7. Metal Sonic
8. Eggman
9. AiAi
10. MeeMee
11. Billy Hatcher
12. Amigo
13. Beat
14. Gum
15. Ulala
16. Pudding
17. NiGHTS
18. Reala
19. B. D. Joe
20. Ryo
21. Zobio and Zobiko
22. Akira and Jacky
23. ChuChus
24. Bonanza Bros.
25. Alex Kidd
26. Opa-Opa
27. Gillius
28. Vyse
29. Joe Musashi
30. AGES

Let's look at the new additional series reps real quick:

31. Amiga from Samba de Amigo
32. Rolly from
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
33. G from House of the Dead

Amiga and Rolly are mainly just here to flesh out the subset of "secondary characters for the mainstay franchises" that MeeMee, Gum, Reala and Pudding find themselves in, nothing too special. G is more interesting though, as his inclusion provides representation for the mainline HotD games.

Let's look at the more exciting and detailed part here: the new series reps. First of all, I wanted to represent a wide variety of subsets of Sega IPs. I didn't want to have just modern franchises, or just cult classic Saturn-era JRPGs, or just EXTRA 90'S Western-appeal Mega Drive characters. Also worth noting is that there's more than one way to divvy up these 8 in half. First off, just for fun, I gave them an equal gender ratio. Second, and much more substantially, these can be divided in 2 categories: the "obvious picks", and the "niche picks". Let's go through them on a scale of decreasing obvious-ness:

34. Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza
-This would definitely happen IMO. Yakuza is, like, Sega's biggest in-house IP that hasn't yet been represented. The last potential barrier I could think of, the "M-rated" deal, has since been broken down by an interview that happened this year, where the All-Stars games' exec. producer basically went "yeah we had him on the list for potential inclusions, he could have totally made it in". Final note, make his car a full-sized Golden Tiger. Seriously, please do.

35. Joker from Persona 5
This is another in-your-face super obvious one. Yada yada yada, Persona 5 ****ing blew up, Joker is practically the new poster boy of Atlus who's Sega's subsidiary, yada yada, you've heard it all. His vehicle is also pretty easy to figure out, being the Morgana Bus. Basically, you know why he's here, you know what he'd be like, moving on:

36. Arle from Puyo Puyo
Not only is Puyo pretty damn big as well, it's also worth noting that it actually has had representation in the Sega Superstars games in the past......in the ones before All-Stars Racing. Also, the JP version of Transformed actually reskinned one of the items into a Puyo, so that's something too.

37. Sakura Shinguji from Sakura Wars
Same deal as the others, Sakura Wars is pretty friggin' huge, it'd be weird to continue to leave it out at this point, I dunno man, I don't know my Sakura Wars very well, I don't got much to say

Moving onto the "niche picks"

38. Ristar
We're kinda lacking in a more Western-appealing character so far, and although Ristar was created by a Japanese division of Sega, he's just that beloved in the western hardcore Sega community to the point where I think he'd easily fit in as a Western-appeal pick anyway. Plus, from going on old forums and ****, he was like the number one request for these games to have not made it in yet, so uh. Yeah. I think it's time to finally give him a shot

39. Orta from Panzer Dragoon
Panzer Dragoon's gotten a track already, I just like Orta and think it'd be nice to have PD take the next step in representation

40. Nei from Phantasy Star 2
OK so why is a Phantasy Star rep the penultimate least obvious pick when, all things considered, it's a pretty big series? First off, it's Phantasy Star Online that's so big, and we're going with a character from the classic games. Second, it's not even the pick that usually comes to mind when thinking of the classic games. Usually it's Alis, which yeah, she's a totally valid pick as well, but Nei sprung about when I heard she was considered for ASR1. Curious, I looked her up, I really dug her design, and here we are

41. Temjin from Virtual-ON
In the midst of all this mumbo jumbo about who are the biggest fish left, who appeals to which region, who's gotten smaller representation in these games in the past, Temjin is, quite simply, the fun pick. Virtual-ON is pretty big in Japan, apparently, and it's a notable cult favorite everywhere else, and those are factors too, but above all else, I just picked him because he's cool. Because of how fun it'd be to have this flippin' mecha driving around with everything else. He's that completely off-the-wall niche-ass pick that gets the hardcore fans popping off, and all those things just make him someone I would absolutely want to include

Ok, now here's the super secret character: and you've probably figured it out by now.

42. Segata Sanshiro

It's mother****ing Segata Sanshiro. He needs to introduction or explanation.

Now for the guests, and unlike in past titles, they won't just get picked all willy-nilly: I still want characters with a strong enough connection to Sega that they'd still make sense in a Sega All-Stars game:

43. Hatsune Miku

Yeah, you heard me right.

I was super hesitant on Miku at first, even knowing that she placed super high in an official Transformed DLC poll. What finally tipped me over in her favor was basically the exact same deal with Kiryu: John Sumodigitalman having said the exact same thing about her in the exact same interview. So **** it, she'd be funny as hell while still having strong connections to Sega. It's a win-win!

44. ToeJam and Earl

It's one thing to have strong connections to Sega, but still being your own thing. It's another thing to be so strongly associated with Sega that you're frequently mistaken for actually being owned by them. With that in mind, and considering that they'd also act as a big Mega Drive Western-appeal character along with Ristar....yeah, put 'em in.
The tracks are interesting this time. Because we had some of the basic locations covered in ASR1, and Transformed had a much wider range and also the transformations, which meant it had to cover each series' basic locations all over again. But now that there's not much of a change with the way tracks are being handled, we can go crazy with some of the other locations in these IP, mixing and matching enviroments and such

Cup 1
Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog
Samba de Amigo track
Pirates' Island from Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Super Monkey Ball track based on the "Sky High" background from the original game

Cup 2

Tokyo Underground Sewage Facility from Jet Set Radio Future

Cup 3

Cup 5

So questions to the artists out there: Say if I were to trace outlines of official renders, but it's because I'm using them for parody and ao I can get a better feel of drawing heads, would that be looked down upon? Is it wrong?
If you’re using them for a parody then I don’t see why there’s an issue.

If you wanna get better at drawing heads, this is gonna sound cliche, but practice makes prefect.

Not really an artist or anything, but I used to do art so I guess that counts. As Noi said, tracing for parodies wouldn't be bad, but if you want practice, tracing isn't your best bet.

I really like this roster. Though I do have a few things I would add. Namely some Sonic Mania/Classic Sonic stuff (I both stan, support, and ship Mighty and Ray), as well as Earthworm Jim and Scorpion and Sub-Zero sharing a kart (both franchises are have major ties to SEGA). Maybe Jack Frost on top of Joker just to really seal in the ATLAS stuff.

Also really, who ever decided to change Futaba's codename to Oracle in English is thick in the head.

I'm very sure that anyone, even a five year old can understand what Navi is short for from playing Zelda. It's a small localisation change that annoys me so much. Other codenames were in English so why change that? There was no point.
I guess someone on the localization team is a big Batgirl fan.

IMO tracing is all right for practice purposes. Obviously if you just take a random drawing, trace it, and do nothing else then that’s a crossing a line but as long as you’re not actively and purposely doing that I see no problem.

I posted it yesterday but I got Omegamon too

As for how I did it so fast... well I didn’t.
it took around 3-5 hours of grinding per Digimon, which took place while I was asleep :yeahboi:
Ah, then you did it the smart way. It may not be fast, but at least it's more convenient then running around grinding on the strongest enemy you can find.

Which one are you planning on going for next after UlforceVeedramon?
