Does Black Adam really borrow much from Egyptian mythology?
Whereas Shazam gets his powers from the Greek Gods. Black Adam got his from the Egyptian Gods.

So some aspects of Egyptian Mythology will be at least in especially since presumably the first act of the film at least will take place in ancient Egypt.

What's a good name for a race of shadow creatures?

Shadelings? Shadow Stalkers?? Dark Dwellers??? Anything????

Paging Wademan94 Wademan94 cuz he's Mr. Creative, but anyone else is welcome to chime in.
Like Wade said, a bit more context could help... but here's a few ideas nonetheless, haha.

  • Umbrai (Derived from "umbra", the Latin word for "shadow")
  • Calamites (Calamity + mite. Could work if these are small dudes)
  • Glooms

Can you describe them a bit more? Appearance? Abilities? Narrative role?

They come in all shapes and sizes, but are generally humanoid in appearance. Dark, scaly skin. Black hair. Red eyes. Sharp claws. And long, prehensile tails.
Advanced strength, speed, and durability. They can slip into shadows, and manipulate physical objects from this “shadow realm”
They’re the bad guys. An army of darkness who wants to destroy the world, at the command of their sinister leader. But they’re kept out of the human realm by magic.

All except one, who’s so wimpy the spell keeping them out can’t detect him.

They’re placing all their hopes on this guy to take over the world for them, but he’s a total dweeb. Shenanigans ensue.

Oooh, okay. Here's some ideas with that in mind! (Love that concept btw)

  • Night Blights (Get it cause- cause they're dark and they're a blight on this world- :4pacman: )
  • Shadow Pawns (They're effectively pawns used as a means to destroy the world, yeah?)
  • Shade Judges (Referring to the day of judgement)

Honestly yeah that’s a pretty good name.

Only other one I have that no one else has said is Night Prowler, probably works for something more serious though I assume you’re leaning towards comedic

Yeah, it’s a comedy concept. Focused on the main character’s incompetent attempts to kill the chosen one and bring about the end times.

Kinda like a high-fantasy Wile E Coyote cartoon :4pacman:

So I bought PS Plus Premium. Finally I can play Miles Morales instead of paying £50 for the game. The cooler Spidey with the cooler powers.

Playing the OG Everybody's Golf and Ape Escape is a nice bonus.

Just for fun, I decided to read a quick scene from the Sonic IDW comics with Dr. Starline!

Spoilers for Imposter Syndrome #1, by the way.

And here's the panels that accompany this audio!

Yuji Naka apparently spilled the beans on the MJ and Sonic 3 situation lol
I bet Sega thought that was really bad.

They probably wanted him not to share that, but he told them to beat it.

He just rolled in and blasted us with that info, like a smooth criminal.

I thought it was pretty yummy trivia though. P.Y.T. For short.

They might be keeping a close eye on him now, though. He may feel like somebody’s watching him.

That’s the thing about these companies, man. They don’t care about us.

But I’ll always have a soft spot for Sonic. I remember the time I played my first Sonic game.

That’s why, no matter how weird he gets, I’ll be there.

We've been given a lot of details about the Mario movie this week and we're still trailerless...

oh silly Bruno
Ah yes, I do recall that he was in the list of candidates for the role of MCU Spider-Man that also include Matthew Lintz himself, Asa Butterfield, Judah Lewis, Charlie Plummer and Charlie Rowe before it went to Tom Holland.

That first sentence really tells ya that the performance itself was an afterthought, huh? :4pacman:

Edit: To be fair, while uncommon, it's not unheard of for an actor to be cast without needing to audition, and then solidifying what the performance sounds like afterwards if the director knows that the actor in question is perfect for the role. I've done this myself before. ...But ya can't tell me Chris Pratt was hired cause he'd be the perfect Mario, haha.

Yeah I kinda find it hard to believe that he was chosen on voice alone and not on his status as one of the most bankable celebrities currently.

Hey Guh, assuming they still when with a celeb voice for this movie, who do you think would’ve been a better pick for Mario on voice alone? Legitimately.

I’m not saying he had to sound exactly like Martinet, just someone who can capture his spirit.
Yeah, I know. I was focused on the voice though, and I was thinking there aren't many who could come close to what Charles can do with Mario.

But it is possible, as you said, to capture the spirit. It's just that Chris Pratt may have big shoes to fill in that area.

Maybe we can figure out how "unlike anything" it is by looking back at previous Mario portrayals. Portrayals by English speakers include:
  • Charles Martinet
  • Lou Albano (The Super Mario Bros. Super Show)
  • Walker Boone (SMB3 & SMW cartoons)
  • Bob Hoskins (Live-action movie)
  • Marc Graue (Hotel Mario)

Bro, wr havent even hear the voice yet, why is everyone dooming?
I am not. I was just saying my thoughts on finding voice actors like Charles.

Well, they may not take into account a few of those. Still, I would like to see Chris do a Hotel Mario reference.
