So people bring this up a lot about Space Jam, but the core difference is that Space Jam doesn't date itself as hard because its still at its core a Looney Tunes flick, while Space Jam 2 is like Wreck-it Ralph 2 and more of a monument of "We own this IP"
Space Jam is the most 1996 movie to ever exist, bro. If I wanted to show an alien what life was like in the mid 90s, I’d show em Space Jam.

Oh bug off. Just have fun with it.
No need for the hostility though.

That's just me but I think people overplay how much WB franchises affects the movie. They really didn't do much once all Looney Toons were united.

Now that you say it. It was basically Ready Player One and Wreck-It Ralph 2 put into one movie using the Space Jam plot.

I’m just sick of people thinking a game being linear is an automatic mark against its objective quality.
Oh I got nothing against SwSd's linearity.

But I'm beating a dead horse at this point of my grievances and I'd rather let people just have fun other than trying to change their perspective tbh.

Honestly yeah, it sucks when people do that. Linear games have a lot of advantages and will always have a spot in the medium.

But remember, not everyone who enjoys open world games wants to see linear ones go.

I don’t even think it’s a straight up bad game, I’m just trying to make up for the time when I thought the game was flat out great and I couldn’t see it’s flaws.

I am not the smartest man.

I just realized something…who the hell is the baby mama of Professor Calamitous?

Cause the fact that he of all people managed to make a daughter like Beautiful Gorgeous while also having the inability to complete anything astonishes the purple flurp out of me

As someone who was a kid during tthat period, you'd actually want Air Bud. That hits way more marks.

But also like, this is a post-social media world we live in now. This kind of stuff ages faster, y'know?

It's like how as a weeb, Isekai Quartet S2 was a lot weaker because of the introduction of Shield Hero as a "WATCH OUR SHOW" deal.

... actually, now that I think about it, Isekai Quartet is just weeb Space Jam

I mean, without pointing fingers to any specific game?

I kinda agree, if only because the online discourse surrounding linearity vs open worlds got really dumb recently. Linearity can help a game to have tighter level designs, better pacing and a more focused story. It's not as black and white as "every AA game needs to be open world" crowd makes it out to be.

Or maybe I'm just badly burnt out by AC Brotherhood, idk.

Meanwhile, the gacha crowd is outhere having a competitive race on who can be the most lucrative game, super linear stat grinder Uma Musume, or narrative open world Genshin Impact.

Ocarina of a Time is a pretty linear game, but it's still one of the best of all time (in my personal opinion).

It just happens to have a very, very empty overworld.

It's funny you say that, because at the time OoT would have been considered open world... kinda.

But as technology advanced, it's linearity showed more and more. No longer open world by today's standards.

Anyways, this is why no game will be able to suprass Flight Simulator. How can you make a game more open world than a game that has the entire world itself?

Linearity can lead to some hilarious scenarios though. For instance, Twilight Princess only checks to see if you got the last Mirror Shard from City in the Sky, which in essence means the point of the previous two dungeons is the right--nay, the privilege--of getting into the cannon room. It'd be a shame if clipping into that room was so easy :yoshi:

Y'all remember in Crash Twinsanity the snow mountain level

Where Crash and Cortex crash into a Cortex-run "Gentlemen's establishment"

And Cortex says in visible confusion, "Mother?!"
Remember when Evil Crash stole Nina and Cortex yells "My daught--errrrrr, niece!" :yoshi:

I still don’t get why that joke is funny
The joke is that Nina is his (potentialy) illegitimate daughter and Cotrex canonically... you know.

On that note, there has to he a better term than illegitimate, rhat just doesn't sound right.

Speaking if which, in that same game, when going through a totally not for kids club diring the snowboarding sections Cortex straight uo asks, "are those real?"

Idk how Twinsanity got away with that.

Oh **** me...
