Now on the negative side of things. Worst movies of this year so far.

1. Awake
2. Shadow in the Cloud
3. Tom & Jerry
4. Space Jam: A New Legacy
5. The Misfits
6. Wrong Turn
7. Coming 2 America
8. Spiral
9. Army of the Dead
10. Mortal Kombat

Top 10 only because these has been the only films in my Bad (0) and Meh (1-3) section.

Ok but real talk, if you had to choose a first stage Pokemon to change into, realistically, what would you pick? And I mean first stage of an evolution line, by the way.
Hattena. No question.

Man I wish I could have picked that line as my starter in SwSh.

Ir they could have just continued the Delphox/Primarina pattern. What could have been. Sigh.

I can’t imagine someone saying Space Jam 2 was one of the worst movies of the year. Wait… this is the guy who hates Thor: Ragnorok…. Ok. That puts things into perspective. Never mind.

I mean tell that to the negative reviews Space Jam: A New Legacy has gotten. I gave the film a chance and watched it, in the end I didn't like it.

Regarding Thor: Ragnarok as well. I've since warmed up to the film. I don't love it but looking at it now again I did think it was a good film, not great by any means.

I just…. How is it getting negative reviews? Like… what were they freakin expecting it to be? Can’t people just have fun with a movie anymore?
A Fire type Hatterene scares me
I’m just saying I would have liked to have either had a feminine starter Pokémon the same way the last two games did, or I would have liked to just ignore the three “starters” and start with Hattena. Like a Pokémon Yellow situation. Like… idk. There are a lot of old emotions tied up around this from a dark time in my life that I’m not really all that proud of. But like… even if those emotions are triggered buy dumb things that don’t matter they’re still emotions I was genuinely feeling at the time and still feel residual waves of every now and again. Just… so much baggage that ended up being tied to Pokémon because life was really weird for me back then. I’m sorry. I’m rambling but i feel like if I keep talking I’ll avoid the inevitable “Christ Snake, it’s only Pokémon!” which I used to hear all the time when I would bring this up because apparently emotions aren’t valid if they’re caused by something not on the pre-approved list.

Oh hey Pokemon Go is doing a repeat of the Eevee Community Day next month, probably because of the introduction of Sylveon a while back.

I wasn't there for the first one so this is my chance to collect one of every Eeveelution.

I could have. But it just wouldn’t have been the same. Like… you pick up a cute baby Pokémon and it thinks you’re going to be it’s best friend and you’re gonna grow together as trainer and Pokémon and then you just throw it away for something else? I didn’t and don’t have the heart.

Plus at the time I didn’t have NSO. I don’t think… maybe I did? I don’t remember.

I’m pretty sure to get a positive review on rotten tomatoes you gotta not only be the best film of all time, you gotta end world hunger, end poverty, usher in an era of peace and love among all humans, fix global warming, and take the chicken outta the freezer before mom gets home.

And even then you’ll only get a 71% score.

It's almost like basing a movie's worth off an arbitrary number is silly.

Been using Paramount+ recently and although I’ve had technical difficulties, it’s a alright service. Gotta enjoy those Nick cartoons along with some other stuff. However their handling of Wildbrain properties is... odd. Inspector Gadget was fine, but then you get the banner for Super Mario World...

It’s a futuristic City? But the show takes place in Dinosaur Island, which is not futuristic (also I just noticed this art is recycled. I have a DVD if the original Mario cartoon with the exact same render used for Mario and Luigi).
Then there’s these two banners for two separateSonic cartoons:

4BD44BEF-4346-406F-842D-D4CCD420A42B.jpeg

See the art of Sonic? It’s recycled right down to the dust cloud!

They couldn’t get some new artwork?!

Overall, that’s a bit sad, but hey, at least there’s Mario 3. Had a episode on DVD from a box of Cereal.... and it uses the same art for Mario!

Finally saw Space Jam 2

it’s ****in Space Jam

It’s two hours of dumb fun. And yes some parts are cringe, some parts will be horribly dated in about three days. And it’s obviously not the best movie out there.

Guess what? So was the original.

I dunno what’s got people so upset about this movie. I honestly think some parts are better than the original. Like the main human character having an actual arc, the toon involvement being more substantial. I can honestly say I enjoyed it, aside from a few things that were admittedly kinda dumb.

It can't be as bad as Gen 5. As much as I love that gen, we have the bipolar reception of that game to blame for the identity crisis that Pokemon has nowadays.
Idk. I’m kind of just bracing myself for the fact that it’s not going to do anything I want it to do and I’m basically gonna go back to only appreciating the designs from afar instead of actually playing them because linear game=bad game apparently.

Honestly, if BDSP sells well, I think there will be a market for linear Pokemon games and ILCA will take the reigns for 2D Pokemon from now on.

And all the wandering around the THREE wild areas when trying to complete the Pokédex burned me out.
Eh, different strokes.

Pokémon was always supposed to be about the exploration, there’s tons of winding routes with tons of off-shoots and hidden secrets in the earlier games. I miss it.

Heh. Pokémon having concurrent 2D and 3D series? I’ll believe it when I see it. And even then it’s probably just gonna be past Gen remakes.

Would be nice if every Gen had a FFXV/Pocket Edition situation.

I guess. I just don’t like exploring. I like doing. Whenever I’m just wandering around trying to figure out where to go and what to do I always feel like I’m wasting my time.

That... exactly what's happening with BDSP and PLA. Granted, one's a remake, but it's very clear there's still a market for Smaller 2D Pokemon games. Zelda and Metroid did/are doing the same thing on the Switch as well.
Idk. I’m just…. I don’t trust them. Actually realizing that there’s a difference in the audience for 2D and 3D entries in their series and supporting both instead of just doing the one that’s the most profitable is never something I can expect from any company.

I once had this idea where they had the big new Pokémon generation come out. It’s full 3D and all that.

But before that comes out there’s another game earlier in the year, a prequel that’s styled like a gen 4/5 game with HD 2D graphics. Probably still 60$…

Then I realized that’s kinda what Sega did with Mania/Forces. And I don’t need a Pokémon version of Sonic Forces.

Whatever it is, I’m staying far away from the online discourse on this one. Even if it’s the best game ever made, I’ve had enough Pokémon discourse to last a lifetime.
What, you mean you DON'T want to hear people constantly looking for every possible excuses to complain about Sword and Shield for years after their release?

So people bring this up a lot about Space Jam, but the core difference is that Space Jam doesn't date itself as hard because its still at its core a Looney Tunes flick, while Space Jam 2 is like Wreck-it Ralph 2 and more of a monument of "We own this IP"
