Yeah I don’t think it’s an area Namco put a ton of thought into. For all we know, the pilots could be a character from a different series like Hiromi Tengenji (Burning Force), Masuyo Tobi (Baraduke) or Taizo Hori (Dig Dug)

It doesn't even point to a fighter. If it actually ends up being something, it could be a Mii costume for all we know, or a Spirit Event. Best to wait and see on that one.

Alright, sure. Within the infinite and endless possibilities the universe presents, of course there’s a chance for the classic SMRPG to reappear.

But as it stands, there’s no incentive from Square or Nintendo to work together to this extent again. And Nintendo doesn’t seem to want to buy the rights to these characters any time soon, so Booster and Frogfucius won’t be playing Mario Golf. Sorry.

You can dream if you want to, but you act as if it’s the most logical thing to do and it really isn’t. Not to say it wouldn’t be cool, but Mario Golf has sold just fine without Geno’s presence.

You want that to change? Make some noise. Make it irrefutable to Nintendo and Square that bringing these characters back would be big money. And I mean big money. Cuz until then, they have no incentive to.

So call me a jerk if you wanna, I’m just looking at the reality of the situation.

I think part of why Mario RPGs kinda died is:

A: Nintendo has developed a phobia of anything resembling a cohesive narrative in Mario.

B: The last few sold kinda bad.

and finally,

C: I think they're going all in on Xenoblade and Fire Emblem being their RPG series, and as such, Mario RPGs just aren't really needed anymore.
