Has that ever been the case? Games where you explore a world like Zelda, Final Fantasy, or Dragon Quest were pretty open ended at the time with little to no instructions on how to get to point a to point b. The way I see it, open world is simply the evolution of those types of games, with less technical restrictions and more variety.
Games like Crash Bandicoot (the only example I can be sure of) as well as the metric **** tonne of linear licensed games I played as a kid always used jargon like that on the back of the box.

Oh yeah, like Madoka cute.

Why are you evil?!
At least Made in Abyss is upfront with its content unlike Madoka.

It just takes about three fourths of the anime to get to the JUICY bits.

I just finished the series/first season for the third time and I already changed my avatar to one of the main characters.

Crash is still pretty linear, but games that have always been about heavy exploration and an ever expanding world have always had an open world of sorts. Like, FF7 and OoT, easily the biggest games of that generation, boasted about their large expansive world. Like, can you give me examples of these linear gakes you played?

Yep ****lords.

After a few days just thought I'd fully confirm it. I'm taking a step back between now and E3. A few of yous I'm messaging on PMs about stuff as I have a plan about something off-site I hope to do after.

Smash that like button like it's the only action you're ever giving to someone for now though.

Yeah that kinda joke but I've had a crappy few days, an old friend's influence is growing on me and I've became a bit of a **** from almost endless. Be nice to your friends but an ass to your enemies. That's the way of having Celtic blood in me.

I could but like I said they’re all licensed games that I would be embarrassed to admit I played.

I also thought this wouldn’t be something I would have to defend and that everyone would at least know what I was talking about so I’m kind of floundering.

It’s just marketing tag lines, Y’know?

“Explore a vast world” is a pretty generic statement for a platformer.

Oh, well, linear licensed games still exist. Battle for Bikini bottom got a remake, I know Alien Isolation is pretty point a to point b, there's other examples too.

I miss the Parasite Eve series in total. How innovative it was from the first game and Aya, which was such a lovely protagonist.

So I watched Ice Age 3 for the first time in many years, fully expecting to laugh at this embarrassment of my childhood.

But...I ****in love this movie.

I can’t help it! Renouncing it would be like renouncing my childhood! But I also don’t think it’s that bad?

Don’t get me wrong, compared to other major animated films that came out around the same time (Kung Fu Panda, HTTYD, Toy Story 3) this movie is nothing special. But it’s a pretty good kids movie. It’s high energy, the jokes aren’t awful, it’s not overly obnoxious, it’s got heart and soul and good slapstick. It’s a fun adventure!

I think Ice Age 4 and 5 have ruined the perception of this series for everyone, when the first three films were just pretty good kids movies.

Anyway, that’s my Ice Age rant. I’ll go back to pretending to be a normal person who doesn’t like funnee sloth movies.

Ice Age 3 was the last good film, after that it was nothing but pop culture references and potty humor turning the characters into moronic buffoons who acted like the events of the first film never happened.

Really too, Ice Age could have just been a standalone film and I would have been happy with that, regardless I still liked 2 and 3 for what they were, nowhere as good as the first but still great.

Most of the games I’ve cleared I have the boxes to. And I keep them on a shelf. So I just look at those :p
