Hey guys, quick question; does Falco's side b have a little invincibility in it somewhere?

I'd just like to say that there were plenty of CGs in melee that were just as deadly, combos that were just stupid ( Jiggs uthrow to rest on fox). And the ICs did have zero to deaths on all chars.
play melee again and tell me how many can lead to zero to death. play melee again and tell me how many can go on forever. play melee again and tell me how EASY it is to land a Wobble or u throw to rest on fox.

ALL of it is MUCH MUCH MUCH harder to land in melee than in brawl. Hell, alot fo it doesnt even kill you. its just thier to collect dmage.

Doesnt matter how hard it is to land in melee, you CAN still land it.

Admitidly, the CGs in brawl are just disgusting, but you can't deny that Peach had a hell of a cg on FFers.

Ledge guarding is the same in all 3 games: do whatever it takes to stop the foe from getting back on stage/ledge. It has never changed.

But how to ledge guard and its effectiveness has drastically dropped. Almost the entire cast is guaranteed recovery onto the stage if uninhibited. The fact that there are more invincibility frames once grabbing the ledge also changes many things.

So let' see:

1) Larger snap range for ledge grabbing
2) More invincibility frames
3) Smaller possession time of ledge (if you use a move from ledge, ledge is immediately up for grabs again instead of still in your possession like in Melee/64)

You're ignoring the facts. Furthermore, because the effectiveness of ledge guarding has dropped, planking has become a stronger tool. To add onto that, we have a timer to promote stalling maneuvers. Face it, Brawl is different than Melee. You have to treat them separately.

BRAWL from A-Z is why we made brawl in this defensive/campy/spamy...ect. It became this way because of the MILLION ******** things this game has to offer.

CGs that can be done at any percent(ddd/ic)
CGs that do OBSCENE damage and CAN lead to free zero-death kills(pika/ic/ddd/falco)
Grab releases to OBSCENE damage or KOs
Transcending priority
Airdodge system
Things that do OBSCENE damage that require little to NO skill(snake jab to f-tilt, meta tornado)
Refreash/Stale system
Tilt/wall/laser/ice block locks.
Super/grab amor
Buffering
Port priority
Lack of TRUE combos
Impossible match-ups(ddd vs dk)

All of this sounds like scrub talk. You don't need high tech skill to win. You need to be smart and acknowledge that cheap tactics are effective and learn to counter them. The only possible thing I may agree with is the airdodge system hindering the game, but everything else on the list sounds nubbish.

And of course the list goes on. but i WILL say that timer is not the REASON why this game has turned out to be the way it is. Timers were in melee and ssb64 and it was RARE to see a game go to time in those 2 games and it was even MORE rare to see serious bouts of camping.

The timer promotes this kind of playstyle. This combined with the ledge guarding aspect I mentioned makes planking broken. Not MK, planking. MK just so happens to be the best planker however, which is why I can see how you would displace the problem onto the character instead of planking itself. To fix this, we have two options:

A) Change the ledge grab mechanics.
B) Change the timer.

We can't do A, unless you want to consider Brawl+. We can do B.

You continue to fail to understand the bigger picture. There are multiple aspects that are causing the problem. Banning MK is not a fix-all solution.

To further solidify my point, look at your own Samus ledge thread. It's all about using time and the ledge as a tool for victory. You know what would stop planking and your ledge strat? No timer. If you choose to stay on the ledge then, and I do nothing to react to you on the other side of the stage and call over a TO, that qualifies for a warning for stalling. Not to mention if you're ahead in percentage, but I'm on the other side of stage and you're planking, you're not going to win the match because it's not who's in the lead, it's who takes all stocks that wins.

Now, as a TO. If i were to eliminate timers, it would cause my events to last longer. Timer helps this.

So if it works, who cares? And we do have the tools.......ban meta. case closed.

You're being ignorant to the facts again. Events may run longer, but if it results in planking no longer being the best method of victory, then MK won't be as powerful as people think him to be.

MK is not the issue. Planking is. You fail to address the source of the matter.

new tier list guys....

to honest this list doesnt make any sense to me

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=165954
I don't get it either. The top tiers just shuffle around a bit, but when you get to mid to lower tiers... wow. Well, I guess it's just tourney results, which then means two things 1) How well the person can play the character and 2) how popular a character is.

Yea. That is what I don't get. How is ganon rise and how is Lucas under him.

Edit: Since the TO said it's only tourney results, I'm guessing people reported higher tourney placements with more ganons than samus'? I dunno. I question the legitmacy of some of these tourneys too. I could technically organize a small tourney with players ranging from scrubs-competitive no names - ranked and report the results right? I dunno, I don't want to jump to conclusions without being fully informed :/

Samus has not been able to place top 8 in any region. I normally place 9th or 13th at best.

Ray Kalm is representing Ganondorf hard in Canada. He can place top 8 in his region.

Hope that clears some confusion.

Furthermore, consider that especially characters down there on the list already are shifted around a lot by one player placing well. If there's one player regularly doing well, then the character will continously climb upwards. It has little to do with the character's actual viability, but rather the players representing them in tournaments.

You should take these results with a grain of salt, either way, but especially the lower half of it.

Guys, you should get yr hands one one of these.
Word's on the street that Samus' Dtilt kills at 70% if you play brawl on this console.
And Zair reaches like 4/5 of Final Destination.

I would have no idea how to exactly customize a wii lights or even put the zebes symbol on it. For example, what material do you use for the shape... plastic?! Do you buy and cut plastic shapes or something? Also, I wouldn't know how to change the lights, although that would super sexy to do.

Edit: Hehehehe in my first sentence, I said NO-IDea, haha. Yea, I can't say that phrase anymore without thinking of the samus player.

I've seen that wii a hundred times and I still get a little too excited when I see it.

Mr. 9, what's your idea for a Samus controller? I've been toying with ideas for one for awhile but I'm too lazy to get a tri-wing screwdriver. :S

Jealous beyond belief. You don't understand.... I'm so jealous. ~CONGRATS!~ You should upload and share some of the stuff you do. I'd like to see, since I like to draw too :) Also, when you use the triwing to take apart the controller, does stuff fly everywhere, like springs and stuff?

Ima-scared of actually being a minority now ;_;
It's not like there's any non-white Samuses in MD/VA.
Not that you can tell what my race is anyway.
Most people assume I'm some kind of white/Mexican/Indian/terrorist/communist/asian/european or a foreign guy.

On a side note, my keyboard broke, so I can only get on at school/on my sister's laptop when she's not here/mad at me. Boo.

hahah, unfortunately I suffer from the same competition. At the last tourney we were both at, out of 33 people I got 25th and he got 13th (too many MK's). Although I used ROB and lolimar (traitor I know). Next time I think I should be ready to go almost all Samus though.

So now we got another Samus in MD/VA. yayuhz

I've seen a couple Samus players around my area, but it looked like they were scrubs. Bad spacing, no zair, no missile cancelling. I think the only thing keeping me from using her in tournies is her failure to kill. Only thing. When I have a fresh CG and connect @ 140-160 and don't kill... Mad face.
