God, I feel like a heretic saying this...
...I just realized how much more I like his Roidley design than his classic design.
The proportions are so much better in my eyes, and he seems much more of a badass.
Duck billed face and all.

On the note of those Ridley mods for brawl, I really feel the reason he is so awkward is because he's always floating.
And the fact that in all of them his body is far too much downsized so he can be splayed out.
In all honesty, he should be larger than bowser in overall size, while a bit more scrunched together to keep his actual hurtbox and general size still feeling character-like while not breaking that border into boss size.
Think roidley's second picture in BaganSmashBros' post, but in a bit more of a "All fours" kind of stance.

he's a cool guy. I'd like to see him playable.

but I'm just not as much of a fan of the DK series in general. I'd much prefer Ridley to K. Rool, and Rool getting in would not make me feel better if ridley were excluded.

I'd be happy if Ridley were playable and K rool weren't.

Ridley has never been the final boss I don't think but is more threatening then K Rool in terms of actions. And K Rool is on holidays while Ridley will forever remain.

Does that answer the question? I like K Rool but I prefer Ridley.

In case the size arguments continue, everyone should be aware that Ganondorf was actually sized UP for the last fight in Twilight Princess. He is canonically 230cm/7'6" tall. Boss=large is clearly common in Nintendo's games.

Is Ridley on par with K. Rool?

Personal preference? I love K. Rool, but nobody is on par with Ridley imo.

Popularity-wise he sure does outdo K. Rool in the west, it's the east and their 'don't-care' attitude towards Metroid that makes K. Rool gain the upper hand in the end.

Chance-wise I think they're about even, both are among the most likely newcomers to break the Gematsu leak if any.

Well give or take ridleys height on the shadow they are almost to a T of the height i think ridley would be just slightly taller than rosalina.

But if ridleys is too tall i can shrink him a hair.

If Ridley is in I think we'll mostly see him crawling on all fours. Makes him slower, smaller, and more manageable. I'm just curious in how they would handle him in the air.

looks a little too big to me, but then again the wings always make him seem bigger than he is.

It's really hard to tell with that picture because the scale is funny, mario only comes up to the knee of the fairy princess, lol

Anyways, Do You Suppose we'll get a collective villains trailer in August? There are a few good reasons why I think this could be the case:
1. Greninja/Charizard combo trailer proves that multiple reveals can happen for one trailer
2 . besides Bowser, every villain has yet shown off. even Anti-Heroes like Wario and Meta Knight
3. Ridley, of course
4. August is an opportune moment to show off Ganondorf, because of the Japanese release of Hyrule Warriors in August and close proximity to the release of Sm4sh in Japan
5. Makes sense for revealing multiple villians, like Mewtwo, K.Rool, Medusa, Ridley, ect.

I Imagine it as such:

We start out in an area similar to the setting of the Greninja and Mega Man Trailers. we start from a bird's eye view, and see a large, dragon-like shadow fly across the ground. soon, we switch views, and see Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby, DK, Fox, and Pikachu gaze at the canyon in front of them, which is covered in fog. from the Fog emerges Bowser, as well as a large horde of enemies (all of which are in Smash run) behind him. soon, Wario emerges out of the fog driving his motorcycle (WARIO BARGES IN!), followed by Meta Knight flying out of the fog soon after (META KNIGHT UNSHEATHS HIS BLADE). a Wolfen flys overhead, and Wolf jumps out of it, landing close to the other 3 (WOLF WILL BE THE ONE TO TAKE YOU DOWN!). soon, a cannonball is fired out from the fog, and a large, ominous figure marches out of the fog, laughing sinisterly.

KING K.ROOL KRUISES IN! (or something like that........)

after a montage of K.Rool Gameplay, the trailer ends, with Mewtwo teleporting in (MEWTWO STRIKES BACK!), along with the last villain to exit the fog. laughing manically, sword in hand, GANONDORF SEES TO YOUR DEMISE. the Heroes and villains line up, each hero prepared to engage their enemy, and it scrolls across each villain and hero, until it reaches Samus, at which point, the screen goes black...........

WARNING! CHALLENGER APPROACHING!

a loud screech is heard, and everyone turns their head to a large volcanic peak. at the top, a geyser of lava is rising high into the sky, and a dragon-like silhouette can be seen through it. the heroes look alarmed, but the villains are smiling smugly. Ganondorf gives a loud shout and aims his sword at the heroes, and the silhouette launches into the air, coated in lava. it looks really cool. it fly's down into the canyon, launching fireballs at the heroes, who, much like in the Charizard trailer, are launching projectiles at it. eventually, it lands with the other villains, and with a swift flap of the wings, casts off it's lava coating

RIDLEY FLYS INTO THE FRAY!

we get a large montage of Ridley gameplay, as well as gameplay footage of Mewtwo and Ganondorf, who have revised movesets.

It's probably best to be sizing Ridley with Samus, since that's who everyone will be trying to compare him to.

Size Ridley with Pichu. It would involve so much complex math involving shadows and past stages that people will just give up, and let you win the argument.

I agree that this Ridley hack doesn`t looks right, but that is only because of Ridley`s model they used having Charizard`s rig. It makes him look bizzare and detractors usually use this hack to show how wrong Ridley would look. Compare it to this:

Looks better, right? If no, then why? Missing feet doesn`t counts.
Tail should NOT be part of Ridley`s hurtboxes. Im not saying that it couldn`t be. They should never be part of his hurtboxes. Tail is always his only part that is not a weak spot in Metroid games. In Metroid Prime games, it is one of the parts of Ridley that are not his weak points. It can even block Hyper Beam, something that even Kraid and Crocomire can`t.

Unless Sakurai truly is giving up on keeping characters secret (which is very doubtful), we won't be getting any sort of mass reveal trailer like that. We will very likely have to wait until release (or until the Japanese spoilers) to see our villains.

But sadly i really doubt we would get a 2 newcomers and 4 veterans trailer, i mean especially because of the chracters saved for unlockable.
