The site will likely crash from too much traffic first. I think there could be an easy 20-30 page jump, but not 300.
Have in mind that this thread will have a significantly increased amount of posts by the time we reach E3. (in about two weeks and a half)

I mean, in a single month we've covered about 300 pages.

EDIT: IN FACT, IT TOOK US ABOUT AN HOUR TO COVER A SINGLE PAGE.

I'll admit, I'm not too terribly interested in seeing what happens on Smashboards if Ridley were to be revealed. I'm much more curious to see what will happen to the anti-Ridley videos in that event. What a sight that will be.

Well, as I said before, there's only two reasons that Sakurai wouldn't directly deconfirm Ridley as he's done with tons of other characters: the character/hazard isn't ready to be shown, or he's being a troll. Having Ridley unfinished in the Direct isn't a huge deal, 'cause they'd have likely had him done by now in either case. What we were shown there was more than likely a mix of both: whatever Ridley's status, playable or hazard, it was unfinished but in a state they could feasibly use it to troll us. 'cause, honestly, I don't FEEL like it's a deconfirmation, but the evidence we have right now isn't what I really consider conclusive and, in fact, feels more indicative of a non-playable Ridley.

Anyway, I know the evidence we have has convinced a lot of people here, and I don't mean to undermine the great lengths people have gone to try to prove there's more to it than is being presented to us, but I prefer to hope for the best but expect the worst, and developers like to keep things simple. Sometimes, if it looks like a dog, it barks like a dog and the sign says it's a dog, then it's a dog, y'know? A big ol' trollface dog that sounds like Sakurai, but still a dog nonetheless.
To be fair; in this specific instance, there is just a sign that asserts that it is a dog. It doesn't really look like a dog or bark like a dog.

Um...Guys?

"Ridley is too small" might be a reality.

I measured his tail shadow... and it is skinny enough to fit FOURTEEN inside Pikachu.

I don't know what this means for Ridley, but I'll try scaling based on Angelglory's model.
Have we determined that there is a relationship between Ridley's height/body size and the thickness of his tail, if so (sorry if I missed this) have we determined that it is a strong enough relationship such that Ridley's tail being thin enough to fit 14 times into Pikachu means that his model is small, relatively speaking? Just curious.

From what I said I meant as soon as Ridley's status as playable/non-playable was confirmed at E3, not by the time we get there, I understand that the growth of this thread is constant enough to have probably anywhere from 10-20 additional pages by E3 (or more) but I was simply referring to the almost-instantaneous growth this thread would experience after Ridley's fate is decided at E3 (which again I hypothesize to be 20-30 pages within 48 hours of Ridley's status reveal), I apologize for causing confusion.

You seem to be underestimating us, mate. :p

Nah, just kidding. I doubt we'll reach 1000 pages when Ridley is confirmed. Though we might reach that goal shortly after...

And an hour after that confirmation, 2500 pages, of both rage and nerdgasms happiness. (Man, that auto-correct is a *****, isn't it?)

We're assuming it's the Other M model.

God, who would've thought I would need to rework Ridley in order for him to be BIGGER!?

This is pretty much what I see going on and honestly even if Pikachu wasn't even there we don't need him to tell us how small Ridley is. We have a bunch of other shadow comparisons with characters on Pyrosphere and it all points to very small Ridley.

So it's been established that Ridley has been (significantly) downsized for SSB4. If Sakurai went through the trouble of making Ridley to a playable size, yet didn't actually make him playable, then I don't know what to think.

That it's time Sakurai steps down?

Anyway, I'd imagine that Ridley will seem smaller on the ground since he'll likely be on all fours, but have an awkward hitbox in the air.

Your size comparison is really way off imo. He isn't that small. He is atleast as tall as Rosalina.
Well, the way I measured this was that I matched up the tailbones of the gray model and Angelglory's Ridley.

So unless the grayscale model's tailbone was resized for whatever occasion...

I still wonder why Pikachu's tail is straight there...

One can only hope Ridley's apparently small size is in his playable favor. A boss, at least from what we've seen from Smash as a whole, tends to be overly large, well beyond a regular playable format (unless you count Bowser's FS). So to intentionally shrink down a character that many, for some reason or another, consider being huge to be one of his traits, only to put him in the same role as before would be illogical.

Now you could say that hazard Ridley would coexist with the ever present rising lava and had to be smaller so the stage didn't end up overwhelming. While that is possible, why cram two gimmicks onto one stage? It'd make more sense to have something coming out of the lava and thereby make something a little more unique.

I'm not buying your shadow analysis for a second. There's only so much we can extrapolate from a skewed shadow of a body that's clearly in the air.
This. I strongly believe you guys are looking too deep into the whole shadows argument. It doesn't prove anything right now, and it shouldn't be treated like a tangible argument at this point in time.

While the shadows have posed an interesting topic of conversation, it does not directly mean anything. The only thing I have to say in regards to shadows is that they do not reflect the actual size of someone or something. Depending on the angle of the light, the shadow can change size.

For example, if I stand outside and the sun shines at a particular height, it can either make my shadow longer or shorter, if we're talking in terms of shadows. So with this in mind, and the fact that the shadows are probably generated by some sort of physics engine, it shouldn't be taken as anything concrete.

EDIT: You guys probably won't like me saying this, but the only concrete information on Ridley we have right now, is that he was shown in a clip that had a subtitle hinting at other bosses. This clip was after Yellow Devil was shown on Wily's Castle.

You can take that for what you want, but that is literally the only legitimate information we will have until E3. Unless something concerning Ridley gets revealed via POTD.

Has anyone determined how large Ridley's tail spike is in comparison to the rest of the stage? It could possibly help us determine his size in comparison to the other characters.

True, the shadow can change size, but I doubt it can get smaller.

And I really don't see how any trick of light can make his tail SKINNIER.

The shadow argument is just the cherry on top, I don't even follow it that closely to be perfectly honest. Logic will prevail; it always does unless you are dealing with the incompetent (which Sakurai could be, I am not denying that).

I don't see why the thickness of his tail in the shadow matters. It's the thinnest part of his body as it is.

Shadows can't really produce a solid answer because of the nature of them depending on the source of light. Therefore, I would advise that you guys wait until we receive more information at a later date instead of spending so much time on something that isn't telling us anything.

We already know what can be known; so now we wait, in the mean time, if people want to waste time analyzing shadows... I don't see the problem.

The thing is, the shadow is literally the only proof of Ridley's existence in Smash 4. Unless we somehow get more information(while not disconfirming or confirming) the shadow is our only source of Ridleyism.

It's like the Monolith from 2001: a Space Odyssey. Praise the monolith Ridley!

Not sure of the page, but I swear that a ways back someone already did an analysis on this. Not that it would help too much, seeing as perspective makes it appear larger than it should.

Don't want to jinx anything, but the extreme lack of any clarification for what Ridley's role in Sm4sh is in regards to that stage in the Pic 'O Day, even though Sakurai went through the trouble of clarifying other (obvious) details and is revealing some new details on things we didn't know now is highly suspicious...(Note: this lack of information can go either way)

Its actually Ridley's tail hanging behind what some think is Pikachu's body. It just shows how stretched out the shadow is.

Look at Charizard's shadow then look at Greninja's. Greninja's is really stretched while Charizards really isn't.

I believe the higher the clearer the shadow and lower more stretched/distorted. So Ridley's bottom half (Mostly tail) is fooling people into thinking its Pikachu's tail. Im also aware this is the FD version but I think the shadows work the same on both Pyroshere's.

I find Sakurai's ambiguity odd, but by no means proof of Ridley's playability. I can see him purposely not revealing Ridley to hype up his playability...

just as much as I can foresee Sakurai trying to hype Boss Ridley.
