Hi everyone :D
I joined Smashboards yesterday because I wanted to talk with some intelligent people (many toobiggers blocked me on miiverse only because I drew some “Ridley for ssb4”)
As someone said some pages ago ,it’s time for my BIG COMMENT ;)
Probably I’m the youngest person here because my first console was the GBA ,my mother bought it during a Christmas promotion “a GBA with a free game” so she took one at random and the game was Metroid Zero Mission .
I immediately loved it and then I bought Metroid Fusion ,but I still was an ignorant about videogames and Metroid series .
One day one of my friends showed me SSBB and I recognized Samus so I played it ,I love it and I bought it .
Thanks it I became a bit less ignorant but I still didn’t know anything .
At the end of 2011 I watched on Youtube the video from E3 where Iwata spoke about SSB4 , I was so excited and from that day I started to look for as many things and also opinions about characters as I could .
Thanks SSB4 I became quite expert about Nintendo and its series .
But … there was a thing which was strange to me … many people asked for Ridley … I knew who was him and I thought “but … he’s big … he can’t …” (but I never insulted anyone) .
This thing intrigued me ,so I started to look for people’s opinions about him for SSB4 .
And one day in 2011 I found this thread … I read it and I understood … Ridley can be resized … he’s the best Metroid choice … HE IS PERFECT !
Now he’s my most wanted newcomer and I added another reason to want him … TO SHUT UP ALL THOSE TOOBIGGERS !!!
I will support Ridley forever ,I don’t care if someone blocked me for 2 weeks on Miiverse or if shokio calls me an idiot … I will support him FOREVER …
After this tearjerker story I would like to say some points :
1 – I know that probably lots of you will hate me for this but I love everything about Metroid Other M and its Ridley’s design is the best for SSB4 .
2 – I’m Italian so I probably did some grammar mistakes .
3 – Thank you very much to everyone who created and who support this thread … without it I probably became a disagreeable toobiger ….
:)

Ridley è ancora troppo grande, benvenuto a Smash Boards però!

Perché qualcuno dovrebbe voler una versione nano di un personaggio che piace? Desperate ...

How is google translate?

Welcome to the force young cadet! Ridley looks upon you and smiles!

Hey, no problem if you like Other M Ridley's design. Different tastes but still the same goal of wanting playable Ridley! Enjoy your stay, know that you are among the clear and logical thinkers who can still tolerate that others might not care for playable Ridley as long as they're not forcing their opinions on others or resorting to personal insults.

...Just one thing however...

It's "Toobigot."

I'm not saying this because you spelled it wrong, but that your particular misspelling makes it look like a parody of a certain other word. A word we most certainly do not want to be accused of using recklessly. =/

I had to listen to have even the vaguest idea what it sounded like. Prime 2's music hasn't been memorable to me in the least. To be fair, neither was most of Prime 1's, but at least Phendrana sticks out to me from that game.
I gotta higly disagree about this.

Metroid Prime 1 Soundtrack is a masterpiece, it blends so perfectly with the areas, it have some beautiful melodic pieces, and some haunting ambiental tracks.
I'm still frustrated that Prime music was mostly ignored in Brawl, no Phendrana Drifts, no Tallon Overworld, no Chozo Ruins, hell why would you put a Norfair stage and not put Magmoor Caverns theme(Lower Norfair)!?

I mean just hear this sci-fi heaven-crafted song:

Finally, Echoes soundtrack is way underrated.
It has such amazing pieces like Torvus Bogg, Sanctuary Fortress, Vs Dark Samus, Main Theme, Menu Theme, Luminoth Theme, Temple Grounds.
And nostalgic remixes like Torvus Catacombs(Brinstar Red), and Hunters (Brinstar Green).

MP2 music grows inside you with the time.

Quite good but there are some small mistakes ;)

Have we ever discussed about Ridley's victory poses?

I imagine one involving the baby Metroid in its capsule.
Yeah that could work. Though it might be more cumbersome than say, Sonic holding the chaos emerald. I could see one where he's floating still in the air, looking kind of smug. If you could somehow manage to make a dragon look smug.

Thank you Ridley_Prime, glad you liked it! and yeah, like i said before, i draw Ridley WAY too much...but it is because before he did not came out like i wanted....and i tried multiple times, even when i was stressed out....and im really looking foward on be able to sculpt his main forms, i may start with the Brawl one, later Meta Ridley, and lastly the most detailed, Omega Ridley......I even have a proyect to make a comic about Ridley......Yeah....I like him THAT much....oh, and the other reason is that nintendo does not care about Metroid merchandise....the first 4 figures are awesome.....but none of them is Ridley, so I will have to make them myself one day.....

And yeah....I may also paint this into my wall.....this sketch is pretty rough....i hope it comes out better later....

Whenever it rains, I listen to the Trovus Bog and the Tallon Overworld version 2 themes.

If its snowing, I listen to Phendrana Drifts and Bryyo Ice themes.

If im relaxing, I listen to EVERYTHING!

Metroid Prime 1-3 soundtracks are amazing. I have them on my iPod too. Have you ever driven down the road to the Flaaghra theme, Metroid Prime Essence theme, or Quadraxis theme? BAD-ASSSSSS! GET OUT OF MY WAY! Everything musically and atmospheric about these games is perfect to me, no matter the gameplay. Ambience is heaven.

...also, Boost Guardian Ridley for Sm4sh :troll:
I listen to torvus bog theme when im in the gym

Hydrodynamo Station theme when im on the bus or what ever.

And Ridleys theme from Metroid Prime 1 when im thinking Ridleys needs to be in this game...

Inside the Crashed Frigate from Prime 1 is beautiful i listen to this also

Phendrana Drifts when its snowing lol but hasent snowed for a lonh time thank god...i hate snow...but London's weather is atrocious anyway..its been freezing forever so yh....

The answer to all of this is don't use Hyper Mode (save for when you literally have to, obv). Suddenly even a lowly grunt becomes deadly beyond belief.
Yeah no RealTalk i started Prime 3 a while ago on Veteran/Hard diffculty and it took me like 5 tries to beat Rundas no Hypermode run.

Gave up the run when i got to Mognear?

Motion controls...
I have finished the game once before but i really wanted to play it again.....

Finished Echoes twice..maybe 3 times
Prime one finished 3 times.

But yeah Rundas on Hard mode no hypermode is pretty tough my hand started hurting from powerbeam spam after i died twice and trying again.....the theme music is heavy though.

With some bosses there's no choice though. Mogenar and Helios both require you to engage Hyper Mode (can't remember if Omega Ridley also did that) while you were in constant Hyper Mode against Dark Samus and AU. Even when the game forces you to go into Hyper Mode the bosses are still completely splattered, they really went overboard with the damage it inflicts, and it's only on Hyper difficulty that the risk=reward concept truly comes into play because of the fewer Energy Tanks.

Hey @ SchAlternate SchAlternate when you finish your little Ridley animation, could you do a "Your tears are delicious" image with Ridley? please?
You know something like this:

(Ridley will be the one slurping the tears of course)

Wow, it's felt like forever since I've stepped into this thread, well this time I have good reason to do so. Fellow Ridley supporters, I give you a diamond in the rough...
All problems solved, all outlooks straightened out, I've basically made the likes of people like Shokio and Nin10dohUltra look even more stupid then they truly are. Share this video, let people know and like this video, because I've personally gotten fed up with the incredibly high amounts of sheer stupidity.

Edit: I already have people messaging me that the arguments are destroyed and I'm "Exposed"...I'm losing faith in humanity each and every day...

Oi, I know how it is far as something like that not coming out the way you wanted at first since as an artist you tend to be your own worst critique and all that.

As for sculpting the different forms, that's awesome! Just a food for thought, but if you were to end up mass-producing them some for a little profit I'd sure be tempted to buy a Meta-Ridley one from you or something at the very least. :p Did so with a fellow Metroid/Ridley fan before on like e-bay/DeviantArt who made this... Things like that are the closest we'll get to a First 4 Figures Ridley or anything of that nature. Don't even get me started on F4F though, when they made figures of Trace and like one of the others from Metroid Prime Hunters, but not Ridley. xD They're really great at what they do and all, but sometimes I think they're kind of overrated if anything, and tend to appreciate what individual fans do more now as far as that or any kind of Metroid related artwork.

Style-wise, what kind of comic did you have in mind far as Ridley? Regardless, I'm sure we'll all look forward to seeing you post it. :) That said, yeah. Incredible @ what you got so far with the sketch of the different forms.

@ Ridley_Prime Ridley_Prime
Ok, I admit, that's adorable<3

Also, why all this hate for Prime 3? :/ I'd say Prime 3 is the worst in the Trilogy, but it is still a damn good game. ^^ Echoes is my favorite, since it's so long and hard (hehehe). Prime 1 had all the effect, Prime 2 was the long, hard and Epic, and Prime 3 had the best controlls. :3
Corruption was my 2nd favorite of the trilogy (Echoes being my least favorite personally), but with any of them you can't go wrong. I hated Echoes for awhile after first beating it and during the first couple or so years of its release (lack of Ridley didn't help either at the time before we knew about Corruption), but something about going back to it later made me appreciate it a lot more, especially with the Sanctuary Fortress and all.

People mostly like to hate on Corruption for the new gimmicks it introduced as opposed to following/building on the ones of its predecessors. With some of the more mean-spirited things I've seen said about MP3, I thought no Metroid would ever get more flak than it did... before Other M came out that is, which makes me all the more hopeful the next Metroid will get better reception than both of those two games. Somehow I doubt it though. Super Metroid and Prime may have been so good that they set too high a standard for fans as far as future releases are concerned, but what do I know?

Torvus Bog is okay, if only for the Super Metroid Red Soil remix. But I do agree, it's pretty tedious at times. Sanctuary is probably my least favorite zone in the whole trilogy though, the whole sci-fi element is cool, but it has by far the most annoying enemies in the whole trilogy being those mini-Quadraxis guys. It kind of makes up for it with the Quadraxis battle itself and the cool look of it all though. I do agree that the Dark World is kind of **** though, it looks extremely bland and always puts a big stress factor on you. A minor pet peeve of mine with Prime 2 is also that it has the ugliest suits in all of Metroid, though that is of course subjective. I still think it's a really great game though, but like you I prefer the 2D games.

I generally agree that size isn't necessarily what matters, but not quite with SA-X, it's one of the easiest bosses in Metroid and dies too quickly. Quite anti-climatic after it kicks your *** repeatedly throughout Fusion.
Boo @ Sanctuary Fortress being your least liked of the trilogy. To each their own though. Even its enemies/inhabitants like the Quad MB's or whatever were more fresh and welcoming to me than like the Grenchlers (or Baby Sheegoths recolored) of Torvus. I'll agree with you on Prime 2 having the ugliest suits only when it comes to the Dark Suit. That thing was... meh. Unlike Prime 1 though at least Echoes TRIED to have different/unique suit designs. I mean as much as I like the Phazon Suit, it (along with the Gravity Suit) were just recolored versions of the Varia Suit.

As for the SA-X (normal form), it met my expectations in the challenging department. One shot of its ice beam/stacked beams would still at least take an entire energy tank off of you, so you would have to be careful with it while getting your charge beam ready. Now the SA-X's mutated monster form, that was anticlimactic and died too quickly. As a whole though I would not say the SA-X was one of the easiest bosses in Metroid, especially if you were on a low % runthrough or something.

I will say this for the Prime games: the water sections before you get the Gravity Suit are often incredibly nerve-wracking. You are so much less mobile under the water than everything else around you, and that's a good thing for the atmosphere of the game, because anything that lives under there could kill you really easily, which made the Alpha Blogg pretty interesting. That said, while it's good from an immersion perspective, I absolutely despise having my movement restricted. Especially when the game revolves around you being able to avoid enemy attacks, and especially when the Prime games give you way less freedom and speed of movement than the 2D ones. Getting the Gravity Booster at the very end of the area felt kind of like a big middle finger rather than a relief.
To be fair, the same can be said about underwater parts in the 2D games before getting the Gravity Suit (frustrating, etc. as far as movement's concerned), especially Super Metroid's Maridia.

Yeah no RealTalk i started Prime 3 a while ago on Veteran/Hard diffculty and it took me like 5 tries to beat Rundas no Hypermode run.

But yeah Rundas on Hard mode no hypermode is pretty tough my hand started hurting from powerbeam spam after i died twice and trying again.....the theme music is heavy though.
I had trouble with Mogenar for awhile on Hyper Mode difficulty too, but if you go in hyper mode while he's doing those ground quakes he can't really hurt you. I typically do it temporarily while in morph ball form as I'm trying to damage the legs or w/e, and then I go back out of hyper mode and proceed to wreck ****.

Even on Hyper Mode difficulty I didn't really have any problems with Rundas, strangely enough.

Omega Ridley required hyper mode for damage as well once his chest was fully exposed IIRC. Even when being forced to use it though, I still got a challenge out of Omega, Dark Samus, and the AU on hyper mode difficulty, but yeah.

Anyway, awesome rebuttal Hotfeet, and welcome to the forums Lolo... Lolo. Took me awhile to get caught up here.

Which is why I mentioned save for when you absolutely have to (Leviathan Guardians and Phaaze mostly). While I agree with your sentiment, you're only addressing the offensive use of Hyper Mode. Defensively, Hyper Mode negates all damage (save for the rare "overload" attacks and obviously Phaaze) at the cost of 1 whole Energy Tank (Which you don't even have to expend. You can literally turn it on, sponge a hit, then turn it off again) with only a minor risk of corruption should you take too long (it really isn't difficult expending a full bar quickly). Going into Hyper Mode during something like Mogenar's Stomp Attack or Omega Ridley's Bombing Runs leaves you virtually unscathed if you time it right.

I think instead of clapping Ridley would go berserk and shoot fire everywhere upon losing.

Kinda like Wolf in StarFox Assault. :wolf:"VICTORY IS MINE!"
Actually, having Ridley clap like a good sportsman after losing would be hilarious, and most befitting of someone of such keen intelligence.

I hope Melissa Bergman is an alternate costume for Ridley.

Actually, having different versions of Ridley (Oldschool, Prime, Other M) as alt costumes would be sweet.

So, any ideas for Ridley's entrance in battles? The one mentioned in the OP sounds kinda meh.

Well, there's always the standard aerial swoop and dive onto the stage. Maybe Ridley can fly up from behind the stage, then crash down back into view. Or glide in from the horizon.

I do think the eye fade-in idea in the OP is a neat idea, though.

The idea in the OP sounds cool, but it doesn't fit Ridley... I think.

It would be cool if Ridley opened a hole (even in stages without walls) to come out of them. lol

Ridley appear from the sky and descend on the stage, the other playable characters then suffers from PTSD in a cutscene for 5 minutes where you can't do anything but watch while Adam yell at you "USE YOUR PLASMA BEAM".

I thought the fade-in is supposed to be a reference to the early Metroid games, in which his eyes appear, followed by the remainder of his body. So it would be fitting on that front.

A strong alternative is to have the Little Birdie appear on screen, which then poofs into the Mystery Creature, before finally poofing once more into Ridley proper. :troll:

EDIT: 111 posts. Palindromes are hawt.

Hmmm....thanks for that...and yeah thats smart never thought of that.

I dunno i think its become more of a personal issue i have with myself...i dunno how or why i got like this....

Better regain my control for Sm4sh so i can return to my former status of a pretty good gamer imo.

I have finished Prime 3 before only once like longgg time ago.

I got Skyward Sword and DKCR on Wii i was playing through DKCR and was kinda enjoying it suprisngly but then i got to this boss....its a bunch of krabs that dance about to music and stack on top of each other.

Is it me or the Wii Motes so laggy slow to respond?

I couldnt do it....pissed me of badly....i dropped it...was too hard...

I mean i completed DK64 101/ done all the
''Beaver Bother'' Mini games my older bro couldnt do...i consider the ''Beaver Bother'' Mini games the hardest in DK64 Hmmm...and other relatively challenging things back when games were alot harder....i dunno back then you were still learning and it motivated you to keep trying to do that thing you kept failling etc it motivated you.

Now...im just...ugh....what if i quit Smash because i failed to complete classic on very hard mode to unlock Ridley the first time?

Lol....no......i dunno man...i think i just lack love which motivates me...i will 100/ Smash4.

I suck so much.....
