Well, apparently there is a new Metroid game in development and the E3 is the best time to properly announce the game. That would be also the perfect opportunity to reveal Ridley for SSB4.

can't find the source at the moment, but Retro is indeed working on a new game and the Metroid Prime trademark was renewed recently. safe to assume that the new game is a Metroid title

if an intellectual property's trademark is renewed, then the trademark holder has between three months to six years to produce material related to the trademark before they lose all rights to their IP.

Reggie's wearing a Samus pin and nearly let slip info about a Metroid game. the Retro Studios employee got really shifty and uncomfortable when asked about Metroid- if they weren't making a Metroid game, he could've just said no.

I don't remember ever saying it was confirmation of anything, what I am saying is that there are plenty of reasons to believe a Metroid game is being developed. But by any means, believe what you want. Also, of course the article is about 2 months old, the VGX event was in December lol.

Yeah, right now it's all just assumptions still (the links not being anything I didn't already know), though it's good to have a little evidence to support the notion of a new Metroid at least. Until we see some actual content of one though, can't say I'll really be satisfied or at ease, with how I've been used to Metroid being dead as a series for awhile before.

p.s. Even if Ridley were to appear in a trailer for a new Metroid, it's highly doubtful that said new design would be used for Smash 4/5. Maybe Smash 6/7...

A bunch of people were pointing out that Other M Ridley looked like he fit more than Brawl Ridley in that comparison Angelglory posted. I've used the amazing powers of MS Paint to fix it up a bit. I couldn't shorten the neck like I wanted to because Paint didn't want to show off too much, but here's the same picture with a smaller head on Brawl Ridley:

Personally, I like Brawl Ridley a ton better. Other M Ridley looks like he wouldn't work as well because his wings take up so much room. Of course I'm not saying something like that can't be fixed. (or if its even a real issue in the first place)

I don't know about you guys, but it always bugged me how Mewtwo looked so small in comparison to Pikachu in Melee. Pikachu is 1'04" and Mewtwo is 6'07" yet in Melee Pikachu reaches up to his chest. It looks off to me and it kind of bugs me, but not to the point where I think they look stupid, it ruins their character, and they should never be in. I actually think Ridley's size compared to Samus's in that comparison picture looks better than Mewtwo's size compared to Pikachu's in Melee.

Having big wings does make he looks even more menacing, as you can see in his Omega Ridley form in Metroid Prime 3, but it isn't necessary. He doesn't. See, even when Ridley is the same size as Samus (Metroid, Melee opening), parts of his body were still disproportionately big. What I am claiming to be a part essential of Ridley isn't the size of his body, but the size of his head, neck, etc. He looks monstrous regardless of the size of his body. You said you don't like how his head look and that is okay, but if you take that away from his design, he isn't Ridley anymore IMO.

He isn't big. He just has a big head and wingspan. I mean, it's not like him looking menacing is a negative.
