I'm more surprised that they always bring up the hunters and never Dark Samus who is the main villain of the prime series.
Dark Samus is really the only potential Metroid character not called Ridley who have at least a chance at being playable.

I don't think they had trophies in Brawl, IIRC. Metroid Prime 3 Corruption didn't make it to Japan until after Brawl was released.

They'll probably have trophies this time, although I still doubt it because Other M is going to be more important in terms of representation.

All I said to one guy is that we can't guarantee that Sakurai's comment about the Pyrosphere page makes Ridley a hazard. Not that he's a NOT a stage hazard, just that we can't GUARANTEE it... He won't that go. I also berated him for being rude and calling me a f*ggot and a ******. He won't even let go of that.

Tbh what Sakurai said about the Pyrosphere stage doesn't rove anything, and I'm not trying to be ignorant, it could mean Ridley's a hazard, or a character to be revealed, or that a Metroid enemy AT was to be revealed, ANYTHING. And I would hardly consider Smash Bros of having "canon". Characters have design changes that wouldn't happen in canon, like the Zelda characters or Bowser. Any changes to Smash's "canon" are purely for gameplay and representative purposes. And I just don't think his size is such an important piece of Ridley's character, he's a super-intelligent and powerful villain who shaped what Samus became. Something can be intimidating without being giant.

In Brawl did Norfair have those exact platforms arranged in that exact formation with pods to protect from magma tidal waves? I also probably enjoyed Other M more than everyone else in the fanbase, even though I'm the first to rag on it as much as anyone else. it's the same reason why I like watching ****ty action movies, like the live-action Transformers movies.

Don't worry, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you far as Other M's concerned. At the very least it's probably my 3rd favorite of the Metroid games or so.

Well, if Ridley isn't playable, well, the anti-Ridley groups will certainly throw insults at us. Then again, they sort of already do. Most are so certain that Ridley is utterly impossible as a playable character that they treat those who support him as if Ridley is already not in the game, and that we're delusional for thinking he still could be. It will probably worsen some if he isn't playable in the end, but not significantly, I don't think. Then again, anti-Ridley's are so immature that they probably wouldn't stop rubbing it in the face of every Ridley supported they could find.

On the other hand, if Ridley IS playable... well, all hell will break loose on the anti-Ridley's. All those incredibly vocal people like Shokio who fiercely proclaims Ridley as an impossibility will be torn to shreds by all the Ridley fans out there. Sadly, there probably won't be much of an amusing reaction from them. Most will probably make some kind of excuse denouncing Ridley and his fans, such as...

"RIDLEY IS DEAD!!! SMASH SHRUNK HIM!! THAT"S NOT RIDLEY!!!"

"This is so stupid, Ridley should never have been put in Smash, he only got in because all those Ridley **** begged for him."

"Off to sell my Wii U. Nintendo has lost all credibility."

If nothing else, we can take joy in the fact that they would be wrong. Even if they claim Ridley being in Smash is stupid, they would still be wrong, and they'd have to live with that. That'd be especially hard on the particularly vocal anti-Ridley people...

If Sakurai knows that people want Ridley in Smash, he'll put him in unless he has some personal bias against him, which I'm fairly sure that he doesn't. Ridley's chances are a lot higher than people give him credit for.

I pretty much just avoided/ignored the detractors who flamed others for wanting Ridley in the first place since 2008 and so on. Don't think this time will be any different for me in that respect. I've considered changing usernames for awhile though if he's deconfirmed again so I won't still be living the identity of a sad reminder for a character that never was. And then I guess I would just be a quiet closet Ridley supporter from then on, if worse comes to worse.

And yeah, each time Ridley gets deconfirmed again, the stupider the speculation for the next Smash games will be, especially when it comes to arguments against him. "So-and-so in Metroid is more relevant now!"

Personally, I thought it'd be cool if his reveal trailer was right after another one, just completely unprecedented, with it starting off in darkness.
Then, you hear pounding on metal, and Ridley bursts through the now-hole in the Pyrosphere, with his title card and theme playing.
Then maybe grabbing some random fighter and executing his signature move on them, then gameplay.
Then at the end, he slowly walks towards the camera, with the screen darkening, until all you see are his glowing eyes.
