So since Miyamoto would like Retro to make a new metroid game, if we were to get a trailer for it at E3 2014, do you people think that Ridley could be announced for SSB4 at E3 as well ?

Edit : 300 posts, eh ?
THIS IS RIDLEY !!!

I think that if Ridley would be in SSB4 he wouldn't be announced untill release..since he to me looks like an unlockable character.

He very well could. However, I doubt they'd be far enough in development for a new Metroid to have a trailer at E3 2014, since it seems like Retro aren't currently working on it, just that it's in their future.

That's assuming Ridley will even be in said trailer of new Metroid game that Miyamoto wants Retro to make, which in a way kind of already brings back bad memories of his brief appearance in the first Other M trailer and people's reactions to it.

You're probably right, it would make sense to keep a character from a franchise as an unlockable character rather than give us the entire cast of playable character from a series at the very start.

But I want more Metroid NOOOW 'n'

I wasn't a Metroid fan at the time so I didn't look at the reactions, I don't want to even imagine them ^^

Thought us K. Rool & Ridley supports might enjoy this
Why are you continually the best.

I think that's also a pretty accurate size comparison between them. I think, going off of DKC, K. Rool is at most about a meter shorter than Ridley.

Metroid WAS popular. The original trilogy sold well in Japan. Its only since the series resurrection that the Japanese have barely any interest in the Metroid series. The best selling post-1994 Metroid game was actually Metroid Fusion with a measly 160K which is around what Fire Emblem sells in Japan on its absolute worst day.

All the other Metroid games released in Japan after the original trilogy have sold under 100K (though Hunters may have barely cracked 100K simply due to how large the DS install base was).
Really? I thought that the original not selling well in Japan was the reason NoA didn't bother putting a save battery in the US cart. *shrugs*

I am pretty sure the original Metroid sold around a million copies in Japan. Super Metroid sold around 700-800K. While Metroid II did around 200-350K. Its been a long time since I have seen the Japanese sales figures for the original trilogy so my memory is a bit foggy.

As far as I understood it they simply decided to put the save battery into LoZ instead. My guess is that the save battery wasn't exactly cheap, and they likely couldn't afford giving it to both Metroid and Zelda, so they decided to give it to the longer game and the game that was made by Miyamoto. The original Metroid did do fairly well in Japan.

Really? I was under the impression they did it because they thought Zelda would be more popular.

I think the biggest reason why I want Ridley in SSB4 is because of Alt. Colors. I mean, an HD Black Ridley sounds awesome. So would a pink and red Ridley, but that's just me

Another reason is that I'd love to see how Sakurai handles Ridley's size and tail. Even with shrinking, that tail just seems so problematic.

Is Tingle peeing on Link or is Link's sword shining on Tingle's crotch? :awesome:

this thread is too big

everything that's been said in favor of Ridley being put into the game, and the reasoning as to why he'd work, has been said in this thread, I think

Actually I had a serious/on topic idea related to holes and Ridley. Which was that it would be perfect to unlock him by uncovering a secret path in whatever the story/adventure mode will be. You'd have to take Samus to blow open a hole in a suspicious looking wall, leading to a fight with Ridley.
