Lol, what a slow day. I've just been sitting around playing Sa2 all day waiting for a leak of some kind. Whatever Gamexplain saw behind those doors must be hype worthy of they were under an embargo. After all, Nintendo knows about the leak. So why be so sensitive about already spilled information...? Food for thought.

Because that's probably not the entire roster, and they don't want any more getting out than what already has.

As to @ IsmaR , please block me or restrict me from this thread until Ridley is officially revealed. I don't want any buts, just do it. I turned my back on everyone for the dumbest of reasons, and I believe myself to be the main cause for everyone to derail; I deserve no forgiveness.

Not only that, but I'm also a walking bad luck charm. I'm a loser to almost everything. I lose in online battles, I'm always on the losing team, and all characters except Shulk are those I didn't care for, or didn't even like until they were revealed. It's as if life is trying to keep from giving me exactly what I want! I don't wish for my bad luck to rub off on the Ridley fans...which is why I ask of this again: PLEASE RESTRICT ME FROM EVER POSTING OR VISITING THIS THREAD AGAIN UNTIL RIDLEY'S OFFICIAL REVEAL! NO EXCEPTIONS! This is me leaning on my skeptical side, but I wish my name to be removed from the support list so that I have no relation to Ridley. I feel like I'm worth the sacrifice.

Nintendo has to be sensitive about it. Believe it or not, there are people who aren't aware of the leak, and don't follow the updates regularly. While many enthusiasts like you and I will know about the leaked characters, a lot of people who will be getting the game don't.

When something like this leaks, the general course of action for the company is to do some quiet damage control while not commenting on anything publicly- which is what they've been doing. They aren't going to change plans and say "welp, the roster's out, so we might as well just not try to keep anything secret anymore."

By your logic about how Zero Suit Samus works, Clone Ridley, the one we'd be playing as due to the tail we saw, won't show up until 2010. It's not the real Ridley, not his normal design, and didn't show up until much later.

Then Link and Zelda should appear in 2005 since neither of the two are the same Link and Zelda that debuted in the original NES game.
Who's to say original Ridley wasn't retconed to look like Roidley?

No, but it wouldn't surprise me since it would leave 12 unlockables based on the leak of the CSS (not counting the possible 3-5 unannounced extra characters). I hope it's not the starting roster since I think it's just too many to start off with.

Since that closed door event with the embargo was four hours long, I'm thinking they most certainly showed something. They likely talked about the leak, too. Now what I'm curious about is if Ridley is on the roster, or any other character that wasn't in that css image, did they plan for a possible leak? Ridley's a hot topic and Sakurai would want to save him as a last reveal I'd wager if he is playable. Do you think they'd go so far as to withhold a few choice characters from the esrb build so in the off chance a leak happened things like Ridley wouldn't get out?

As for why they'd disclose this at PAX? Possibly because they wanted to reach out to the press who obviously saw the leak. If Ridley and others were actually on the roster, maybe they wanted to show them that what they saw was not final? I saw people speculate when the leak was still considered suspicious that Nintendo was taking down the footage because they didn't false information getting out. What if that's half true? There being other characters like Ridley still yet to be unlocked would be sort of false information.

I just hope this is the case because I really want there to be some characters we don't know about yet. Five more would fill up the css and not have it looking empty, and it could be that our Space Pirate leader is one of them. I'm gonna ride this train of hope and dreams on a rainbow of hype until we get final confirmation one way or the other about Ridley.

I used to be like you, be harsh on myself because of a mistake I made, it never comes out. It just makes you feel even worse. We are ALL anxious for Ridley to be revealed too, but we won't give up til there is a official confirmation or deconfirmation. Perhaps a break from the topic is what you need. Then in two weeks, come back and see if Ridley is confirmed then. I have a feeling you're having a rough time in your life and it's hurting you. So just take a break and come back, hopefully you'll be back with more confidence. And I forgive you for your rant. I said harsh things to people in the past and made them almost hate me, but in the end, they have forgiven me of my evil deeds because they were my close friends. So don't beat yourself up too much and take a break or talk to someone who can help you.

Anyways back on track. Two more weeks til we know the fate of our beloved space pirate dragon. We can do it! The wait is almost over guys. So keep those spirits high and lets charge in with confidence. (also, go ahead and put my as supporter if I haven't been added yet.)

This was well said! I'm still harsh on myself and I still push myself to do better (and I still have that horrible knack of holding it in), but even though things come out because it hurts so much, it's all improvement and I would rather feel all of those emotions than not feel them at all. I easily forgive everyone for any rant on this subject - like I haven't said some gems in my life.

This Ridley wait just shows that the people in charge are making some big mistakes and I think that depression/anxiety/etc. are common things many people have to live with that are not being taken into account. This wait makes me anxious too, but I'm sure that we'll all know of Ridley's fate within a matter of days or weeks.

If that is the starting CSS - my Ridley thoughts go two ways. First, the layout by year which is still there makes it a little difficult to put Ridley right after Zero Suit Samus and that doesn't bode well for his chances unless someone can bring a layout that would make sense and I didn't see one right away.

However, second, only having possibly 2 new movesets as unlockables is far more puzzling. There is no way that would have that (and only 12 unlockables total) unless the 3 Mii Fighters are unlockable, and I can't tell for sure yet. That bodes very well for other characters that haven't been shown yet (Ridley).

Last night got a bit out of control. It could have been worse, but for the people trying to keep up with the thread, I'm sure it was frustrating. But I mean, come on. It's Ridley. Who wouldn't be excited for him? That badass design, the huge possibilities for movesets, being a space pirate dragon thing. He's one of the most deserving characters to be a Smasher.
And can we please stop talking about leaks? All it is is just "Some guy on 4chan said..." and it's rediculous. Even if it ends up being true, what difference will it make? We won't even know if it's true until it's revealed anyways. Unless there are pics/video proof..?

God I hate embargo's like this, they are always so frustrating, whether it be for information, trailer, reviews, whatever, it just makes us wait forever to see stuff we either want to know/see or are excited about. I know why it makes sense from a business perspective, keeping stuff a surprise for the consumer and also holding off negative press if it exists, but damn is it annoying. The fact that there are people out there who might have, just might have, seen a Ridley trailer and can't tell anyone about it is just so frustrating.

We've believed in our purple space dragon for so long, so now it's hopefully time to see our patience rewarded. Also if the hype three make it into the game I will never say a damn thing bad about Sakurai again because he included what were supposedly the characters that make up the top 5 of both Japan and the U.S. which means he would have truly listened to fans when it came to character requests. That's half the reason I still believe so much in Ridley besides the long and arduous teasing process that has already taken place, he's also been including several of the most requested characters along with his usual personally unique choices. This new Smash just seems like so much of it is truly done for the fans (Which isn't to say the past ones haven't been, just this one more so) and that bodes really well for the inclusion of Ridley, as well as Mewtwo and King K. Rool in my opinion.

The lack of Ridley would be disappointing, to say the least, but that will in no way prevent me from getting the game. The game is going to be a ton of fun, and they've already added many characters that I am thrilled to have on the roster. I definitely think that Ridley should be on the roster, but I'm going to get Smash regardless of his inclusion.

Well, if Ganondorf didn't debut at the same time as Link and Zelda despite technically being the same person as Ganon, I could see this potentially separating Ridley and Samus in terms of debut years. It's not the most sensible thing to do, but it's a possibility.

Question: How many of us are going to buy the game regardless of Ridely being playable or not? I know I'm buying it if not only just for .

I'll be annoyed, but its not going to make me disinterested in the game completely (he is the only newcomer I care for though).

Actually, I think that the final character that would be fought in All-Star Mode would be Greninja. He didn't debut until late 2013.

First of all, I don't think it's enough to say "He's in", but let me "overanalyze" for a second

For one, we know he didn't have to respond to the tweet.

"Oh but he wanted to stop the questions early!"

Sure, but barely any of the GX audience thinks he's playable anyway.

Now here's where stuff gets interesting. Ash responding to the tweet saying "either way" let's us know that potentially Ridley was talked about at the event.

But what do we know about the event?

They're seeing the final 3DS build. Not Wii U build.

Now what version is Pyrosphere on? Wii U.

Which one where they playing? 3DS.

Where is Ridley supposedly a boss on? Pyrosphere... on Wii U.... which they didn't see.

If they talked about Ridley, it would be about him on 3DS, where he wouldn't be a boss anyway.
