I really didn't like Norfair in Brawl. And I'm not really fond of Brinstar in Project M, but I hate it less than Norfair from Brawl, that's for sure.

That's true, the atmosphere was pretty cool. I loved the Chozo in the background especially. And at least the lava isn't as awful as the totally ridiculous guaranteed stage kills from Norfair.

To be fair, the 3DS has tons of awesome stages. I guess they're trying to give them some of the worst ones as well to balance the systems a little.

I don't see him being on Brinstar because that stage is way too small for a boss and already has lava hazards. Did Sakurai say anything about bosses being on both versions when he posted the Yellow Devil on the 3ds?

Alright, back to Ridley guys. This isn't the Miiverse poTD or Metroid Stages thread.

And I hope people keep their expectations in check; this doesn't mean we're getting closer to Ridley news. I hope that was the case though...

To be honest, I can see Sakurai revealing that the Pyrosphere boss (if it has any) isn't Ridley at all, but actually some other boss (like Kraid, Crocomire, Nightmare, even that weird Rhedogawhathisname from he Pyrosphere), and that Ridley was playable all along.

Normally I would argue with you that doesn't make sense, but then I heard somewhere that you don't even fight the Yellow Devil in Wily's Castle, or at least in that specific game. And you also don't fight Kraid who's bathing in lava...and other times when Sakurai disregarded canon.

Despite the obvious allusions to Ridley (twice, even!) on the Pyrosphere, I don't believe having a different boss on the Pyrosphere is so far-fetched and straw-grasping anymore. Hell, I'm starting to think Ridley being both a Boss and Playable is becoming more likely, despite me rejecting the notion earlier.

Yes, you are. What hope for tomorrow? Ridley isn't going to be announced in a PotD, unless he is just a boss/hazard. Unless they announce a sudden Direct (or trailer) for tomorrow, there is no reason to have hope for tomorrow, imho. The best we can get (again, imo) is another Pyrosphere shot without Ridley in sight.

Well. Considering the Yellow Devil and his stage is on both versions, and Ridley is too incredibly popular to not be on both. It would be weird if he was just a boss on one version. Unless they confirmed Pyrosphere for 3DS as well I personally think Ridley has great chances to be playable simply because if they wanted to show off bosses for both versions, Ridley would be a..Prime choice for it.

But seriously, if no announcement of at least one trailer occurs today, then we are completely in the dark.

Why are they waiting so much. I want to remind you that there's a high chance of getting the roster leaked in beginning of September and maybe end of August. We are on August 19, what are they doing?

I'm not sure that Sakurai can guarantee no leak and so, reveal in September to be mind blowing. So, why he's still make us wait?

He has to do it this week or else, he would break a full year tease and so, his genius plan.

It's been some time since I've been here and we're coming down to the wire with this wait. I am extremely patient, but not 100% sure Rids is in. On the positive side, glad to see everyone still in high hopes for their favorite purple space dragon. My only hope for when this waiting is said and done is that... everyone'll stay true to themselves, and that this wait will seriously pay off for them.

Well, it was either that or Brinstar Depths, but Kraid/Mini-Kraid's apparently a Smash Run enemy, which is probably why it wasn't used. It also seems past SSBB stages are going to be exclusive to Smash Wii U, so Norfair will no doubt be there.

In any case... this does mildly raise my hopes for some kind of Metroid-related PotD tomorrow. But we all know how terrible Sakurai is at remembering anniversaries.

I'm hoping for a trailer announcement tomorrow. Not a PoTD showing Ridley. That would just be a straight up deconfirmation (is that even a word lol) if Sakurai did that. Ridley's too big (no pun intended) to be revealed as playable in a picture.

What exactly are people going to leak? The starting roster? It's quite possible that the unlock conditions are stringent enough that people won't discover them for a while. And I really doubt that most of the people working retail are among the extremely small group that is the 3DS hacking community.

That would be so inconsistent that it might be very dangerous for the whole tease. What happens if nothing happens today from Nintendo? it would deconfirm it for Wednesday so...

Only 2 days left and that would be guarranted to be general direct so most likely one trailer. We are getting at least 2 so what are doing with this one?

They must be quick or they would break their own tease and guess what it would mean if they do that...

It wouldn't make sense to even be a tease.

Which means that the 3 teases was for something else.

I'd say a week before release. Give or take some days. It's not really a set time that shipped games are received by retailers.
