I think everyone is overreacting. This has turned absolutely ridiculous. Does it actually matter if he supports or not? I mean, if someone's willing to engage in civil conversation, and acknowledge our side, then does it really matter whether he's a detractor or not? Honestly, it's absolutely absurd to think that a defining factor of whether we should verbally harass or laud someone is whether they believe that a character will be playable in a video game that hasn't even come out yet, and that there's not enough evidence to prove whether he's really playable or a boss. Look, I don't want this to turn into some sort of ridiculous Inquisition against people who don't believe in the almighty Ridley.
well i wouldnt go so far as to say "everyone", but yea some of these people are kinda overreacting

Saltwater's still a supporter too at the end of the day (he wouldn't even have Ridley in part of his sig if he wasn't). He just has one of the less popular opinions due to being more doubtful and down to earth about Ridley's inclusion.

Guys. GUYS! Listen up. The biggest question revolving around Ridley is the whole shadow/pyrosphere tease. Now there's a new super-awesome-completely-legit leak that may shed some light on the situation.

the hypocrisy of humanity knows no bounds...

detractors constantly being hateful and despicable people towards ridley supports for YEARS, thinking its perfectly justified.

ridley supporters start standing together to face that hostility, are then insulted by those same detractors by being called despicable bullies.

you know, humankind NEVER fails to disgust me, i truly despise it, far more than i could ever put into words.

This post actually brings up a valid question. If Ridley is playable, but he's also a boss, do you think Sakurai will pull an Alfonso for the stage boss, or is this just too ridiculous?

I personally think that it won't happen that way; either Ridley's playable, or he's a boss, but I firmly believe he's going to be playable.

FYI, @Saltwater Gem didn't say he was a detractor, nearly everyone just assume he is.

Now let's officially drop this subject and start talking about something else, like the Alfonso theory.

Well tbh, I really doubt a "Alfonso switch" would happen to Ridley. Although, with all the time its taking just to give any information about Rids, Sakurai could have implemented something like that at this point. But I'm still very doubtful about it.

I think he refers to the GameFaqs post I linked here, which had someone (apparently a detractor) claiming we're the most savage bullies in the entire fanbase or something.

Here's my real thoughts about the whole situation:
I was pretty confident Ridley was going to be in Brawl. I even remeber getting super-pumped the day Sakurai posted the MetaRidley soundtrack. (I was following every PotD) And I was pretty disappointed when he was announced as a "boss" character.
This time around, Sakurai has added ALL of my most wanted (Rosalina, Villager, Miis, Megaman) except Ridley. So I know he was listening to fan requests. He has also been hinting at Big Rids for a long time now, which I think helps his likelihood of being playable.
All in all, I think he's in. I can't say ZOMG RIDLEY IS 1329394% PLAYABLE CUNFRMD!!! But I have faith in my Lord and Savior, the space dragon pirate.

Saltwater Gem, I'm not trying to be rude when I say this, but I think you need to clarify a little better when you post. I went back and forth on what you thought about Ridley before I knew what you meant.
Isn't the version of Toon Link on Spirit Tracks a different incarnation than the playable version? If he is then I see Roidley and mecha Ridley as the stage hazards, and Ridley as the playable character.

It's a topic that's been brought up before. People think it'd be Ridley replaced by Meta Ridley, or just Roidley while Ridley is a playable character.
I honestly doubt it too. Not that its not possible, just that it might as well only be Meta Ridley/ another stage boss altogether.

To be honest, I can see Sakurai revealing that the Pyrosphere boss (if it has any) isn't Ridley at all, but actually some other boss (like Kraid, Crocomire, Nightmare, even that weird Rhedogawhathisname from he Pyrosphere), and that Ridley was playable all along.

I can see the fire snake thing be the hazard.

C'monnnnn Sakurai. Give us an exciting PotD.

I honestly expect the lava to be the hazard. I mean. It's a Metroid stage with a hot substance underneath it and (possibly) safety platforms.

Um?

Ridley can potentially end up a psuedo/semi/clone if Sakurai got lazy. This isn't all that controversial nor is it outside the realm of possibilities. I don't think it will happen, mainly due to Ridley's body proportions being very dissimilar to Charizard's, but it's silly to assert that it 100% can't happen.

I'm so sick of hearing about that second post
Understandable. It seems to have unfortunately turned into the defacto "I don't feel like arguing nor I don't have what it takes to argue, so get out of my face and read this DEBATE OVER" response. The second post is a really good post, and is worth your read (especially if you want insight on why some people truly believe Ridley isn't out of the running yet) but if all you're going to do is dodge arguments by posting "read this post bye" constantly then I wonder why you're even bothering to partake in discussions in this thread.

Putting up my Varia Suit for this, but it reminds me of when Ridley Detractors would constantly bring up Shokio's video as the end all be all of Ridley arguments without bothering to debate themselves.

I recall someone saying elsewhere that "Ridley" isn't moving at 60 fps, only at about 30 fps, which could make him look a little jerkier. The Yellow Devil also moves at 30 fps. But that's just what someone told me, anyway.
I'm not to sure. We have confirmation that Assist Trophies run at 30fps on the 3DS version, but I didn't hear anything about it for Boss Hazards (or on the Wii U for that matter). Not to mention the fact that Youtube only renders 30fps, so it's difficult to determine if Ridley and Yellow Devil actually move at that fps or not.

Anyways, my problem with Ridley is more that he keeps pivoting and resetting over and over and just looks so unnatural. The loss of frames when he resets also makes me believable that his usual animation was edited and tampered with, though as I said earlier I am ignorant on 3D animation so I am well aware that I probably have no idea what I'm talking about! :p

Either way, I'm confident that isn't part of his normal animation, but was altered to showcase the tease and keep Ridley in the air in the same spot for a longer period of time then he usually is. basically, I'm saying that we probably can't derive from how Ridley will act like, whether playable or boss, from the ten second clip. The clip and Ridley's actions I think were all designed specifically for that tease, and not what he'll actually do in-game.

We got a PotD: (in Japanese)
https://miiverse.nintendo.net/titles/14866558073037273112/14866558073037275469

Google Translate:
One piece today. Dates left on the production, the task basis, to make it would be impossible. The staff and I have that kind of talk. But, by the responsible designer of guts (♀), I was completed. It is seen in the "Metroid Zero Mission" ending, Samus shorts wearing!

In English now!

No Ridley, but Metroid related nonetheless.

Brinstar is back...

Shoot me please. That's the worst possible Metroid stage that you could think of.

To think it will be the anniversary of the pyroshere and the first mention of Ridley. I can't believe a year will have passed and still no resolution on Ridley. Well I expect that end soon, whether through official means or the japanese 3ds release that is less then a month away. Either way we'll all know for certain.

Just found this in the comments:

"I don't like this costume"

Makes me sad. I know I delved into madness when I scrolled down that far though so I don't know what I was expecting. :ohwell:
