I really hope we get to play the Genuine article Ridley and not any of his clones.
Would any of you guys/gals be offended if you got to play as clone ridley?
No? Any real fan would just be happy to play as Ridley period regardless of which incarnation. That kind of pickiness isn't really a luxury we have.
Errmm, I certainly don't remember any pieces of evidence that suggested the cloned Ridley has the original's memories. I still would rather have the original that has all his experience and underworldly connections.
I think my biggest problem with the cloned Ridley is that he came from an atrocious game that had so much more potential.
So if Other M had been a good game to you, you would've been fine with Roidley then?

The idea of playing as one of Ridley's sprite forms on the Game Boy stage (Zero Mission Ridley or something) does tickle my fancy though.
Seriously, with all these retro things the game has, like Pac-Man turning opponents into their NES selves IIRC, there's nowhere Ridley wouldn't fit.
I think I'm wrong on this, but didn't mother brain improve his intelligence so that he would be more useful? Ridley's species isn't even know to the galaxy.
Yeah, that was never stated or shown anywhere. If Ridley was only intelligent because of Mother Brain's influence, that would seriously kill a lot of the characters' appeal for me right there, nor would I have been able to take him as seriously.
You might be thinking of Phantoon, because its info stated that it fed off of Mother's brainwaves for more intelligence, power, or something.
I guess I gotta buy this manga because I haven't freaken seen it. though I am skeptical of its contents.
Good luck buying it. You'd be better off reading it for free online & translated off of the Metroid Database pages or something.
The way I interpret it with modern story is that Ridley, who lead the space pirates to Zebes to begin with, made use of the Mother Brain which was found there in order to have it control the space pirates and handle the operation. He basically let it do what it wanted and take charge because being a chozo supercomputer, it's kind of slightly above average intelligence on one or two things. Not so much Mother Brain controlling Ridley, but Ridley voluntarily letting the Mother Brain run things because it's smart. Because it's a brain.
Now that I think about it, the partnership between Ridley and Mother Brain kinda reminds me of that of Shredder and the Krang from TMNT for some reason.
The same could be said for the clone of Ridley.
I've read around extensively and the manga has many contradictions and plot holes. I hope they fix this up eventually but I'm not sure if they ever will.
Compared to like most of the games the manga hardly had any plotholes. The "contradictions" it may have had were the good kind though, like how Samus was towards Adam as opposed to Other M. Definitely had some of the best writing and character development in the series bar none.
Or you know, Super Metroid was made 12 years before the conclusion of the Prime series, so nobody thought of that. Ridley has been stated to be the only one of his species that's still alive at the time of Super Metroid, and if it was a fake Ridley we'd have seen a situation similar to fake Kraid in Metroid 1 where Mother Brain's lock wouldn't have activated.
It is undisputed canon that the original Ridley is dead, only via retconning can that be undone, hence why I still think SM should have been the end of the Metroid story, it wraps up everything.
Am fine with Super Metroid being the ending of the series' plot like it was originally intended, though it'd mean we'd get no more games. :\
If Other M gets retconned or ignored with the next game(s) that could bode well for the original Ridley in a way. The likelihood of them retconning Other M is questionable though, especially if like Star Fox Command is still considered canon.
And again I'll just agree to disagree with you on Prime 3. Game had its flaws for me too but was still far from lackluster. Will be with you on jumping off the train though if we only get another Hunters kind of game just to get Metroid out of a hiatus again. That would be so disappointing after how long a wait we've had after Other M now. I mean there was at least Prime 3 to look forward to during the time we got MPH but now, we not nothing basically.
I noticed something about Galactic Federation - there is no other specieses shown except for humans and maybe Chozo and Luminoth. At least in the games. That is weird since there is supposed to be a lot of them...
That was what I liked about the Galactic Federation in the manga to be honest. You got to see a lot of its different members/residents that were aliens and not just humans. I blame lazy design on why we only see human Federation characters in the games.
I've been noticing over the past few pages that you were all starting to see the brilliance that is Zero Mission Ridley. Accept him as the superior design, and you will be set free.
