Important The Ridley for SSB4 Thread - End of an Era

Here is something to ponder.

What will you guys do if Sakurai does end up confirmed Ridley as a boss for Smash 4?

At that point, the ranks of the Too Bigot Brigade will swell even further, with neutral standees being inclined to believe "yeah, Ridley is a pretty impossible addition" and a "feasible playable version of Ridley wouldn't work".

I think there is a massive chance that at that point that the Ridley fanbase could collapse and become utterly demoralized (see what happened to many character fanbases after Brawl's release).

What needs to be done is to show that a quality playable Ridley is feasible and could be done, and would be balanced out well with the rest of the cast.

The best way of achieving this is by convincing the Project M team to include Ridley as a newcomer (3.5 is going to be the latest release this year, which means we may be able to have another year for them to make Ridley).

Its going to take the effort of every single one of us to make it happen though, considering how challenging it would be to implement Ridley (I have been told this by the team).

Only through sheer fan perseverance and outcry would he even have a hope of being included.

A quality playable version of Ridley, would be the antithesis to every Too Bigot that a playable Ridley would be "impossible", and would help serve to make the Ridley fanbase survive the interim between Smash 4 and Smash 5, because it would prove that Sakurai's idea of Ridley only being fit to be a boss is merely his own "opinion".

No. No it would not lol. At this point, he's already on my roster. I don't see Sakurai doing some gimmicky boss mode either, it wouldn't make sense to do that. "Oh, I'm gonna play as Yellow devil. Shoot two fireballs and warp, so fun." Listen, I appreciate opinions on the boss mode, but that to me is like being able to control the assist trophies; why waste time and precious programming on characters that appear for 30 seconds? While we're at it, let's have a blue-shell control mode in MK8. That'll be fun. Listen, I think since Coro-coro is coming up, within a week of it(before or after), we will seal the fate of Ridley. If he isn't in, much sadness. If he is? Celebration followed (most-likely) by many angry detractors posting sarcastic images of the Bionis from Xenoblade saying "HE'S NOT TO BIG, PUT HIM IN." I know none of the detractors here would do it and I appreciate that.

On a side note, the "characters have been unlockable on their stages before, that's different from Pyrosphere." thing is... really stupid to be honest. If you asked 100 people who they associated Princess PEACHES castle with, I'm pretty sure no one would say Dr. Mario. We KNEW Snake was playable when we first saw Shadow Moses, Same with Sonic and Green Hill Zone. We still don't know **** about Pyrosphere, even though it's been around forever practically. It's just too suspicious. The Ridley being an Assist trophy thing is also just... Ridley-culous. He was talking about Bosses in that section, but teased Ridley. If he made him an AT, I'm sure detractors and supporters would ask... "What the ****, Sakurai?" I know it's not some set-in-stone kinda thing, but Sakurai is not mean in the slightest and wouldn't let down the fans of one of THE most supported characters. This isn't like MewTwo (whom I'm indifferent towards), this is a character that; somewhat looks like others on the roster, represents a series that really needs it (I'd take Ridley over MewTwo anyday, Pokemon is fine with 5.), and is THE most controversial character that could be included. Once Ridley is revealed as playable, anyone who even MENTIONS the words "they're too big/small" will be an outcast.

Sorry for the mini-rant, but I just needed to get my opinion across.

A lot of people are outright certain Ridley is too small to be a boss (lol) and there is no reason to outcry to something we already have.
Whether or not we get Ridley Ridley's fanbase will probably exist as long as smash and metroid exist. Geno still has a fanbase so i'm not worried for the end of all support after everything Sakurai has put us through.

Then Sakurai would be an idiot for hyping something that was already done, and seeing as how he listens to the fans when it comes to other things, it would be a kick in the nuts

Geno still has a fanbase so i'm not worried for the end of all support after everything Sakurai has put us through.

The Geno fanbase is much, much smaller compared to its pre-Brawl counterpart. Demoralization is real.

i've started getting impatient and skipping several pages... last i saw, everyone was going nuts over the trophy store image and analyzing some non-existent silhouette thinking it was ridley... did that bear any fruit, or what?

If the Ridley fanbase is going to get smaller it already has. The shadow pretty much filtered out most. A true deconfirmation won't be and the that big and the community won't change that much (but what do I know)
Either way I don't think an apparently dieing support group could get the big bad PM developers to create something without them wanting it in the first place. Ridley support will probably always exist in some form for someone

If Ridley's reveal trailer had Game & Watch just strolling around the background of Pyrosphere, but no gameplay of him was shown, so he's still not on the website.

No the Metroid anniversary has already passed. The anniversary for the Pyrosphere unveil is August 20th.

If anything, I have stayed too long. I have wanted Ridley as a playable character in Smash Bros. ever since I first saw him flying in the background to the Planet Zebes stage back when I got Smash 64 in 1999.

I have wanted Ridley as a playable character for over 15 years.

As others have said, I am basically the "grandpappy" of all Ridley supporters.

second, lets say it is ridley, how being there deconfirm him since the other shadows i see are rosalina, megaman, wii fit trainer, villager and something that may look like G&W?

I still looked on a pretty small screen so is extremely hard to say, but i'm 100% sure of rosalina, wii fit trainer and megaman.

If anything that should help confirming ridley, not deconfirming it... so I didn't understood the reason of the alert ?

The "alert" is that they accidentally confirmed Ridley which would cause us to destroy this thread but it is mostly a false alarm and honestly paranoia

We can't force Project M developers to add Ridley to Project M. It is not Super Smash Bros 3.5. We could make our own hack for just Brawl or Project M if we will get their permission of course. Using either original Ridley or Ridley import hack with Charizard's bones rigged in such way they perfectly fit Ridley instead of Charizard. That would require us to make new animations or at least adapt already existing animations to his rig/skeleton/bone set/whatever. But without using any of those existing Ridley model hacks because one of them doesn't really looks like Ridley and has few weird issues with verticles and that s***ty import hack with not only makes Ridley's neck Г-shaped instead of L-shaped, but it...just looks bad. I doubt that will happen though...I could help with animations and maybe model with edited eyes that i have.
We could just make a more advanced version of Charizard alt, like Dr.Mario, but with different sounds and animations.
