You know that rumor about Metroid Dread?

Nintendo will slightly change the title and announce Metroid is Dead in the next Direct.

Jokes aside, I will stop supporting Ridley if he isn't playable in Smash 4. If he isn't playable now, chances are that he never will.

I guess I'm too stubborn to give up on him. I said I would stop coming to the support thread if he was a no-show at E3, and yet here I am.

Ugh, if Ridley doesn't get in, can you imagine what the "I Was Wrong" thread would be like?

There would be so many of us that have to go there...

Now that I think deep about it, alot of us would be destroyed knowing all that hard evidence was for nothing. We really would look like the delusional laughing stock that has been grasping straws the whole time, and we'd have to endure another 5-8 years of discrimination. I swear, I've seen it escalate to racist-levels, and that's plain sad to be violated for having a personal opinion.

I can't even look at a single Ridley picture without thinking "too big. too big" as if there's a metaphorical Nin10'doUltra haunting me.

I'll still remain a supporter even if he's not playable. The only thing that would stop me from ever supporting him in the future is if Nintendo went out and said "We're not making any more Metroid games. The franchise itself is too obscure, and nobody cares about anything on there outside of Samus."

I would still support Ridley even if Nintendo came out with a statement that states that Ridley is Metroid's "Big the Cat."

i rewatched the ridley shadow and nintendo direct clip of pyrosphere FD. i noticed in the ridley shadow that theres lava dots trailing up (i guess you can call it embers floating upward) in the Pyrosphere FD there is no lava, and no embers floating up :/

I thought it was a parody of "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio. The title is reminiscent of the chorus during the song. I could be wrong though, I looked up the lyrics to see if they were relevant to Ridley's chances... maybe?

Oh, there'll probably be a few of those jokers that can't get over the inclusion of something they hate for barely any reasons, and at least a few petitions will be made. It's not like anyone will listen or actually make it happen though.

While I'd love for Ridley to be playable (Bowser was Too Big in Mario 64 as I'm sure has been stated a million times), I just want Metroid and F-Zero to get some more representation, wherever they can. And Ridley's the second most common character in the series, out-doing the titular Metroids.

With the brightest light source being where it is but there being ambient light elsewhere, I don't think we can really figure much from that picture alone. Shadow could just be some odd projection of that broken pillar directly below and behind Fox's illusion.

And besides, just imagine Charizard with metal armor and a longer jaw.

There are thirteen days between the last day of August and the release of the game. If Ridley isn't announced in August, I suggest we wait until the game is released before worrying about him not being playable. Not to mention image leaks are very likely to happen in the following weeks.

Well, usually it's based off of what happens in the thread, so I was hoping to get some kind of summary of anything noteworthy I might've missed while I was gone.

They'll either use the "He doesn't look right" excuse (which even if he did it doesn't matter because he'd be in), or think of some really dumb counter argument to justify why they felt that way.

Me on the other hand...If for some reason he isn't in. All I can say is "Well I was wrong GG". That would probably make people mad because I wouldn't be raging at them.

Characters have been known to be redesigned specifically for Smash or upcoming games, so even if he looks wrong, that would be a weak excuse.

Cases in point: Bowser, Marth, Roy, ZSS, Spacefurries.

i think ridley would be an unlockable character instead. but then again we already had the full roster set for kirby and donkey kong for the starting roster in Brawl

Nah, I see him being revealed in a Stage Boss portion of a Smash Direct. As he shows off some more Stage Bosses, he says "Now, while we are still on the subject of stage bosses, let me show you the Pyrosphere stage from Metroid Other M. Please take a look."

Then a CGI trailer starts, and the fiery Smash logo comes up, and it shows a trailer that starts off heavily implying that Ridley is a boss, with Samus running around the stage in fear, with a humongous shadow chasing her.
The shadow is way too big to be a playable character, but then the figure comes closely to Samus, and as it does, the shadow shrinks, showing the shadow had an effect like this:

After the Shadow gets to a size where it isn't too big, but still large an menacing compared to Samus, the camera changes angles and shows us the purple figure.

RIDLEY SIZES UP THE COMPETITION!!!

After some Ridley gameplay, we go back to Sakurai, who says that he has been teasing this character for a while, and has implied it was a boss, but this was all because he knew how much the fans wanted him in, and he just wanted to have some fun with them.
He might also mention that in Brawl, he had Ridley as a boss, and he really liked him as a boss there. But this time, he had some player expectations he had to meet, so he made him a playable fighter.

Spoiler: Long Explanation

Sakurai/HAL/Sora/Namco-Bandai has edited a Trailer once before.

In the 3DS eShop, there's a trailer for the game that isn't on other websites n' stuff.
A bit in that trailer, you see Greninja turning around and showing his face, as per his usual trailer with Charizard & stuff.
But it's zoomed in, which seems OK, but there's two things there that's the kicker.
When Greninja starts turning around, there's 4 leaves in a Clover-Shaped pattern...
...which WOULD be Normal, but since it's zoomed in, the leaf-clover isn't supposed to be there at that time, it's supposed to be offscreen, but it's there for a few frames.
The other thing is that when Greninja turns around fully, he stays there for much longer then the regular trailer shows, since it cuts to the tagline, but in the eShop Trailer version, it's been extended.

So what does this mean for Ridley? It means that Sakurai/HAL/Sora/Namco-Bandai can edit trailers however they please, meaning they could easily edit a trailer and change it to have something happen past what we saw.
Which means that Ridley's Reveal could very well be stuffed in the E3 Trailer, but we just didn't see it because they simply wanted to hold it off. Heck, it could even be in the Wii Fit Trainer's Trailer and they cut it off just for fun.

Who knows? Maybe Ridley's Reveal was right underneath our noses at one moment, but we missed it. :V
