On the Pyrosphere thing: Can somebody check whether or not the platforms cast a shadow? If they do - and there is no such shadows obstructing ridleys shadow, that i do know - we win. Unless platforms are always gotten rid of when the boss appears, but that looks like a wileys castle only gimmick to me, these things are on VISIBLE rails and exist - kind of- in the MM universe in the stages so...

The angle the shadow was shown hides the platforms, they DO have visible shadows, but angles man! Don't mess with the math!

Not necessarily a good habit to get into, you should have at least read the entire comment to see if there was a plausible argument to be had. Not all detractors are inherently bad, he probably offered some insight regarding non-playable Ridley in 26 paragraphs.

Despite all of this effort gathering information and proof for Ridley, when he's confirmed there's about a 60% chance that I will not main him. Based on the Ridley-ness of everything, he seems like he'd be a heavy character. I'm no good with heavies. In all honesty, I have no idea who I'll be maining at all this game. I mained Squirtle in Brawl but he's probably not returning, so I'll have to find another character. But there's always the chance that Ridley will have some sort insane air game or not be all too slow, so he'll probably be my heavy for the game.

I don't know if I'd main him. I would have to try him out first. I wonder just how slow he'll be. Bowser was pretty slow and he's gotten buffs all around including his speed. So I guess he'll be like Bowser except worse ground game and absolutely god like air game.

I am going to be honest, I am not sure about whether or not I would want to main Ridley either. There is the dependent variable of my sister to consider, we have an unspoken arbitrary rule that we must not main the same characters (for variety's sake, I suppose), essentially, we "claim" characters on the roster. We can still play them, of course. But we do not "main" them. She is honestly the bigger Metroid fan and during the Melee cut-scene, I was dropping my panties for Wolf. She wanted Ridley more than anything though. In an ironic turn of events, she did not actually want Ridley for Smash 4 (for the same reasons that I did not want him). However, once it became overt and apparent that Ridley is playable (the April Direct) and she has come around to entertaining the prospect of wanting Ridley. She cannot wait to play as him and she intends to main him. If she enjoys him, he is basically off-limits. We both enjoy heavy characters, I main Ganondorf and she mains Bowser. It is just our thing. The bigger that character, the better. So no problems there. My problem is a "social" problem.

A full argument I am having with the detractor on Relax's vid, my statements are bold


"Sakurai doesn't hint at bosses, he shows them."

This is an incredulous claim. So I'm sure Sakurai didn't hint at other boss appearances on various stages during the direct. I'm sure Sakurai didn'thint that Ridley would be one of the stage bosses players have to watch out for.

"Sakurai knew loads of people wanted Ridley playable."

It doesn't make a difference whether people wanted Ridley or not. I'm sure people want Waluigi or Isaac playable but they've been assist trophies. It doesn't matter if a character is highly wanted or not. It all depends on whether or not Sakurai can integrate them into the game and make them fit.

"Sakurai is listening to the western audience this time as of Little Mac"

This is a selfish claim.

"People found out that shadow isn't all too big."

Shadow analyses aren't accurate. You can't successfully get the feel of something by looking at its shadow. Light source effects how a shadow looks.

Then during the direct, he shows a shadow of a boss character that is obviously Ridley with the captions "other boss character appearances* below it. You honestly need Sakurai to state the obvious before it sinks in?

Actually one of the upper platforms shadows would have to cause some kind of weird, unexplainable bulge on ridleys shadow, even with that angle. especially since it moves for a bit, there is no way he'd overshadow (hahaha... shoot me please, that was bad) every single shadow cast by those platforms. But hey it might have been a testing environment for all we know... anyway, I'm outta here... limited datavolume is such an annoyance. And i need it to last til next wednesday on which i finally will come back to my limitless internet access...home, sweet home~

WTF. This dude is...You know what. I'm not even mad. Tell him that when Sakurai shows character he quickly states if they aren't playable. He does it ALL the time. Why hasn't he done it for Ridley? Watch him say something along the lines of "Well because he's widely popular and he doesn't want to hurt his fans."

You honestly need Sakurai to state the obvious before it sinks in?

This is an incredulous claim. So I'm sure Sakurai didn't hint at other boss appearances on various stages during the direct. I'm sure Sakurai didn'thint that Ridley would be one of the stage bosses players have to watch out for.

Sakurai hasn't mentioned any other bosses either. We saw the Dark Emperor from Find Mii, for instance, but we don't even know what he does yet.

Yeah, no offense to other supporters, but I find baffling that some of you bother to argue with YouTubers. Or even with people on Miiverse.

It is just not worth the effort.

Usually it starts as a simple reply to a comment like "I disagree and here's why", then 10 minutes later it somehow blows up to a big argument. You don't comment expecting to get into a yelling fest...but it somehow ends up like that before you know it.

Anyways back on actual Ridley talk...It's hard to find new things to talk about him when there's so little info and a lot of speculation has been covered already.

Agreed, defensive communication is ineffective at resolving a disagreement. I would understand, I took a class on interpersonal communication to avoid public speaking.
