I personally think they're boyfriend and girlfriend. Mostly because of BehindtG's artwork, admittedly.

Well... it can be anyone's imagination really. Sakurai chose them as lovers, and some people choose them as siblings or lovers. But for my opinion, I think they're just siblings, they're twins, as a chibi. =)

they are two halves of the same being. whos soul and very being has been severed apart by the Kamaitachi while searching for the miracle fruit "Eggplant" in order to save the village's famine at the base of the mountain. Popo and Nana are the personifications of the original being's anima and animus. The halves are working together to retrieve the "Eggplant" with the same conciousness in two separate entities.
