Instead of making all of my additions from a third party franchise, there is one Nintendo character that I wanted to put in for awhile now, which is the Pokemon Trainer. Instead of using the grass, fire, water starters, the trainer would use Eeveelutions on her/his team. Simon, Mega Man, and Hero are all franchises with historical significance, so I think their additions are important to bring in.

I’m wrapping up my Pokemon experiment here, will continue for it to be a slow burn but I think it’s time to bring in a second face. I’ve never been so keen on Lucario in Smash, but this can be an opportunity to build him up differently than before.

Arle and Mega Man give their respective companies a dynamic secone character, and Cloud swoops in to make up for Hero getting cut. Nothing too crazy, although Arle is a new face. I’ve always wanted to see a puzzle game character fully realized in Smash.

This one ended up with a nice balance between fighters in Ultimate and potential SSB6 newcomers. Rosalina is a popular character from the Super Mario franchise, and the puppet gimmick is cool. I entertained the idea of Dixie Kong, but I went with Ashley for the next Mario sister series fighter as Wario Ware does have multiple Switch era games, and Ashley is popular within the franchise. Aegis is notable within the Xenoblade franchise, and they are the other well executed version of a transforming fighter (two transforming fighters in closely timed jobs may seem risky, but these were handled well in Ultimate). Arle gives us our first female third party fighter.

Normally I wouldn't struggle very much to come up with female characters, but I put myself in a bit of a bind with some of the decisions I made earlier on. In aiming high for gender balance from the jump, it made me a bit ill prepared for the round where we actively had to add female characters. But I think this lineup does the trick anyway.

Rosalina has sat out from the past couple roster games I've done here, so I'll give her a chance this time. Her puppet styled gameplay and celestial aesthetic make her stand out a lot among the crowd. Ayumi is a pseudo retro pick, elevated greatly by the resurgence in Famicom Detective Club as of late. Octoling can slot in as an Inkling semiclone, rounding out the Splatoon lineup fairly well for the time being. And Jill is kind of a staple of my rosters here at this point, adding another female character to the third party count and slotting in as our first horror game representative.

This round was a little complicated on the Nintendo side as most of the major franchises are here at this point. In terms of dormant franchises, I thought that Isaac would be more interesting than Pit as a fighter. After Isaac, I went with Ayumi because of Famicon Detective Club’s resurgence on the Switch. To round out the Switch era franchises, I decided to add Officer Howard from Astral Chain. For my last fighter, I went with another third party franchise, and I decided to go with Kazuya to help compliment Ryu in terms of fighting game characters.

Went with a pretty eclectic mix here. I finally added Little Mac on the front that a "retro" oriented character feels like something the roster could really use right now. Ness is sort of a "cult" pick, assuming Earthbound would still be a highly regarded cult classic in this universe I think there's still an avenue for the Mother series to be celebrated in Smash. Dr. Kawashima is a surprise character, and one that I actually wonder why people don't talk about more because Brain Age was once such a dominant "casual audience" Nintendo franchise akin to Wii Fit. So consider him equivalent to that here. And Simon adds yet another longstanding series with strong ties to Nintendo's history, one that I think fits the series exceptionally well.
