New: Ganondorf, Pyra & Mythra, Tails, Chun-Li​

I’m trying to be cautious filling out these characters right now because I know what I’ll have to do in a couple rounds. So I’m gonna say screw it and add onto a couple obvious third party series. Tails and Chun-Li can be treated as a package deal here, as they sometimes are in other crossover material. I think both of them fit Smash like a glove and remain a couple of the biggest, most widely popular names absent from the series. I want to be conservative with third parties but am open to treating a few like family, and perhaps in this version of the game these collaborations just maximize the available guest content.

Ganondorf rounds out the essential Triforce Trio and Pyra & Mythra are just a contemporary addition that I’ve come to see as a must have. Xenoblade is on the smaller end of series getting two characters here but their rotating, eclectic casts do lend themselves nicely.

While he’s also a Mario character, I‘m treating Yoshi like he is the real SSB games, and coincidentally, this completes the Mario Kart 64 cast. Star Fox is a memorable franchise even if it’s dormant, and a Rhythm Heaven fighter can lead to an interesting moveset.

With several third parties on the roster already, it feels kind of silly for me to continue to neglect Pokemon. So I'll cave in on Pikachu but acknowledge that I plan on keeping the series' representation on the more conservative end. Beyond the obvious addition of Pikachu, I decided to divide my attention toward old and new content. ROB is the obligatory retro throwback character, and provides us with a playable robot which is always pretty cool. Astral Chain is kind of a dark horse new IP and could feasibly offer a really interesting pseudo-puppeteer moveset comparable to the mechanics in Capcom's JJBA fighter.
