Nair works equally as well as Bair when approaching against Marth, but only when you are sure it won't be punished.

When you are trying to bait him into using a fair/double jump/fsmash, bair is much safer due to it's hit-box staying out 9 frames longer and the way it moves you in the air being less of a commitment. You can hit him with it and combo the same way as nair.

It works against some other characters... Peach, Sheik and Ice Climbers immediately come to mind... Possibly more.

Great I'll test these today, i still got a lot of practice to do, to get Pichu up to Falco standards.

One thing im enjoying about pichu right now this his speed, and his low amount of frames between attacks and movements. I can see why even the best fox players would have an hard time with fighting pichu, not being use to someones attacks, and movement being faster then his.

I just need to find a great use for pichu lighting bolt, and volt tackle. I don't like slowing my pace to use these attacks.

It's Skull Bash :)

And it's only real use is for recovery.

It can be used for tech-chasing and edge-guarding, but Pichu has better options. It can also be used for mind-games against someone who doesn't know how the move works.

I can understand that, I just always try to find uses for all my attacks, im not one to repeatedly use the same move over n over to win a match. Which is why i avoid certain characters.

I never thought to use skull bash as an tech'chase must take some practice to use it that way. I'll have to play around with it and see how effective it can be used.

Ah yeah, well all of Pichu's moves have a use, which is cool.

Tech chase only works if you are a super mega ninja pro like me. You pretty much do a SHFFL'd nair and immediately begin charging after the nair hits them.

If you want an useful attack for skull bash, use it to hit Foxes and Falcos when they try to Phantasm, but be careful with Falco, since his is a meteor.

More interesting Pichu stuff:
SH Fair is VERY fast and safe a lot of the time when they are expecting nair.
Sometimes I shffl nairs around just out of range of my opponent to bait them in thinking that I'm going to haul off and try to nair them at the right time, then I just use fair and rack up a little damage. Also works doing some empty hops mixed with thunder jolts and then nairing them when they're working around one of the jolts. I guess that's a pretty basic strategy that can be used with all the characters, but it's funny when you do it with pichu because people don't expect you to actually have any good techniques being a pichu player and all. Then when they lose to some of the most basic tactics in the game, they're like "WHAT! O_O! OMG my controller is all messed up dude! can't believe that stage man it's so unfair. You know I only lost because I haven't played in while and I'm really sick right now and my stomach hurts from all the food I ate earlier and my controller is all messed up and I don't even play this game seriously anymore. That's why I lost." Sorry for the big rant at the end. That's just how some of my friends sound when they lose.

Hey guys, I play samus, but I like playing pichu occasionally for the lulz. What's generally on the to-do list against marths? Thanks!

Hey, welcome to the Pichu boards! :)

The basics of the match-up are:
-Spacing short-hopped back airs
-Approaching (when it is safe) with SH fair or nair
-Use agility dashing (jump and immediately Agility to either side along the ground, if you did it right, Pichu should recover from the agility with only 1 frame of lag) to get around Marth's spaced aerials
-Shield a lot
-Try and land smash attacks whenever you have the chance, rather than going for a combo or juggle.

If you want any elaboration or further advice, just ask.

I took a look at it and didn't download, I'm afraid.

Just didn't have anything that appealing for me.
I'm afraid it won't until i can make a video of it myself, but i'm sure you'd love it after my next update.

As of right now, Captain Falcon is combo king in Over Drive, but others are just as good but not as epic. Mario and Luigi are monsters in combat though.

But getting back to Pichu. ^_^

I've just been re-aspired into playing melee, but for a different reason other then trying to become an god in smash.

So i've come to ask about Pichu's Technical skill.

A list would be helpful. ^_^

Mashing B during Skull Bash increases the distance.
Landing during the end of Agility gives you only a single frame of lag.
If you hold B during Agility the distance increases.
SH Uair Wave-land
Sweet-spotting the ledge with Agility.
His specialized moon-walk. Look up "The Whip Pikachu" on Youtube.
Skull Bash cancel on upward slanting slopes.

For the lols:
If you crouch the bubbles don't disappear as soon as you stop crouching.
If you hit some areas of stages with Thunder Jolt the graphic doesn't disappear and the sound loops until it disappears.
