While previous threads supporting characters have been closed due to flaming, spamming, and other reasons, the Official StarWolf Support Thread devotes itself to reasonable debate at a mature level. We ask that you bring your concerns, questions, and comments to the thread with willingness to debate them, but also ask that you do so with reasonable disgression. Spam will not be tolerated! We do appreciate your counter arguments, provided they are more than 1 sentence long, and you actually defend your arguments. You will not be taunted or mocked if you disagree with us provided you debate as an adult and not act as a child.

This thread is also designed those who are unfamiliar with the StarFox video game series exactly who Wolf O'Donnell is and what his role is in the Star Fox Universe. The members of this thread want to inform members without installing fear of ridicule.

A Few Key Things To Remember:
1.) We do not want this to turn into a Ridley thread. Keep posts on topic.
2.) No flaming others and no spamming of anykind. Such acts will be reported to a moderator. 1 person will not ruin the thread for al those who wish to participate properly.
3.) Please read the argument and counter argument section before posting. This is stop old debates from being dug up time and time again.
4.) Please keep the profanity to a minimum.

History & Research:

While the StarFox series does not begin at StarFox 64, an instant classic for the Nintendo 64, this is where the history of Wolf O'Donnell begins. Originally set to be released in the now cancelled game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment Systen (SNES), Star Fox 2, the StarWolf Team debuted with Lord Wolf O'Donnell as the rival of Fox McCloud, the leader of the StarFox Team. Like Fox, Wolf too had his own team, which inlcuded pilots Pigma Dengar (a traitor the StarFox Team), Andrew Oikonny (nephew of Andross, the main antagonist of the game) and Leon Powalski (Wolf's right hand man and can be considered Falco's rival). Together this group, hired by Andross, sets out to stop the plans of Fox and his team. Near the start of StarFox 64, Wolf and his team do battle with Fox at Planet Fortuna: Former Defense Post. This would be the first of three aerial battles with the StarWolf Team. However, they would not be the last. The Star Wolf team ultimately fails their mission (defeat Fox), causing Wolf to seek revenge for his own personal reasons.

Absent from StarFox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet (SFA), Wolf and his team return in StarFox Assault, which was released on the Nintendo GameCube along with SFA. Two StarFox releases on the same platform was exciting enough, but the return of Wolf was even more exciting. Like the StarFox Team, the StarWolf Team had some face changes as well. Wolf O'Donnell remained numero uno, but Pigma Dengar was throw off the team and Andrew Oikonny left on his own free will. One newcomer was Panther Caroso, a flirtasious panther. It isn't any surprise when another dogfight battle takes place. Of course, the StarWolf team is defeated, but the interesting part of this game is yet to come. The main antagonist of this game, the Aparoids - insect-like creatures that are part-machine, part-life form, force Wolf and Fox to team up for the survival of the Lylat System. The first time, Wolf and Fox are able to defeat the Aparoids at Corneria City . Again, Wolf comes to Fox's aid, using his team as distraction so Fox can enter the core of the Aparoids' home planet and defeat the threat. However, Wolf still states that he wishes to finish Fox off personally.

The most recent release of the StarFox series comes on the Nintendo DS. Wolf is actually one of 15 playable characters in this game, which all Wolf fans clearly enjoyed. Like in StarFox Assault, Wolf is seen again in some scenarios, helping Fox, and even admits to actually respecting Fox. While this game alters many different ending depending on how you beat the game, you will have to do that on your own to find out what role Wolf and his team play!

The StarWolf Squadron:

The StarWolf Squadron is the main support group of Wolf O'Donnell and his appearance as a playable character in Brawl. We are always willing to accept new members. Below is information on the StarWolf Squadron including members, founders and how to join:

For those who wish to join StarWolf Squadron:
All who wish to join StarWolf Squadron must fulfill these requirements:
If you were accepted into StarWolf Squadron in the earlier thread, you must go through the procedure below.

Requirements:
-Minimum post-count: 100
-Have posted in Wolf thread at least 3 times.
-Must obviously support Wolf O’Donnell. (Not necessarily above others. One can want Falco in more than Wolf and still be eligible if they still openly support Wolf.)

If you meet the above requirements, PM the Ace Members (or the Founders if No Ace Members are listed) the following:
1) Your request to join.
2) Your reasoning for why you would like Wolf O’Donnell in Brawl
*In item 2, if you include a moveset or well defended argument, (the founders will judge if it is well defended) please make it easily found in your PM so we can make it a link for other users to view. Not everyone's moveset or argument will be added so please do not get offended.*
3) Major threads started by you, if any (100 post or more)
4) Threads you post often on or follow.
5) Any trouble with Moderators and why such action was taken. (closed threads do not count)
*Please include all information so we can make a well-informed decision.*

(Optional) After the above information is filled out you may post something about yourself. You may post characters you support, who you intend to main when Brawl is released, your current Melee characters, etc. This part is appropriate for you to mention skills you possess that may be applicable, ex: Photoshop, artistic talent, other languages, etc. ---Always appreciated.

Ace Members are premium members that are handpicked out of our current members and agreed upon by all present founders. Simple enough.

Privileges for Ace Members:
Ace members will have some say in our application process that will also undergo a minor change.

Ace members will also command greater respect than an ordinary Member and can bring issues to Founders if they feel they need to.
Example: Member A has a question or suggestion, rather than go straight to the top with this, Member A will go to an Ace who will look over Member A's question or suggestion. If the Ace can Answer the question/solve the problem right there, he can. If the Ace cannot, he will bring it to the Founders.
As for suggestions from other members, the Ace will look it over, if the Ace approves, he can send it to the the Founders for a final say. This is also the structure of the new application system, the member-to-be sends the application through an Ace before it reaches a Founder

Aces are encouraged to discuss among themselves before coming to a decision. If the Aces have a particularly fierce debate and cannot come to a consensus, they are to contact a Founder to moderate them.

in short, Ace Members are a link in the chain of command between ordinary members and Founders. However, there will be a limited number of Ace Members.

But seriously. Nice looking thread. I do think that there is a race between Falco and Wolf though, the point didn't persuade me. I like Wolf, he just has an obstacle to get around. That isn't to say I prefer Falco, I just think that one or the other will get in (which you seem to agree with) and it could be either one at this point.

Thanks for the compliments on the thread. They are always appreciated. I agree, there is def a race between Falco and Wolf. I favor Wolf but in reality if Falco made it in I wouldn't be surprised. It really is a 50-50 chance, but I show favor to Wolf.

We'll have to wait and see.

Regarding Falco vs Wolf, I am of the opinion that Falco DOES take precedence, or at least Sakurai and Co think so. Why do I say that? Well, when given the opportunity to make a Fox clone, they chose Falco. I am sure Wolf had just as much of a chance, and if they were all so worried about "more villains", they could have easily put Wolf in instead. But they chose Falco, the character who probably took more time to develop (because of the physical similarities between Fox/Wolf, making a Wolf model probably would have been less time consuming than making the Falco model was. Just several edits to the Fox model and they are done with Wolf)


Anyway, I don't mean to start any arguments, just pointing out that, if past actions mean anything, Falco would probably get in before Wolf.

If SF Gets 3 Reps i can't really see one being wolf that much, Seeing how falco is the second most popular SF Character if i can remember right and got over him in melee...Also i could see them revamping a vet that many people liked who has more popularity rather then putting a newcomer, Then again this could be debated...Stinks that there can't be four SF Reps..

Oh by the way, a couple of arguments.

1. Dark Fox does not have the leather pants, therefore he =/= Wolf. Obvious reason (and the lack of fake eye, and the fact they look totally different in general, but mostly the pants).

2. Falco certainly outprioritized Wolf for Melee. Wasn't StarFox 64 the most recent Star Fox game at the the time? That was Wolf's first game (that was released, he was in another that was canceled) and Falco was one of the originals. However, now, Wolf has had much more to do with the series and Falco has not exactly been the most loyal character to Fox. This sort of goes into your point about their bond weakening, but Fox and Wolf's relations are becoming more important and more detailed.

How is grouping the canines different from grouping the reptilian like characters together? And ok if Bowser is a turtle-than the group can be "Reptile/Amphibian". Ridley is a dragon, ok well dragons are verey similar to dinosaurs and dinosaurs are very similar to dragons so Ridley is in the same boat as Bowser. Ridley does not have a beak as far as I am concerned, atleast in many photos it does not appear to be like a beak. Even if it was, his dinosaur/dragon features are more seen than his 1 bird like feature.

I don't think K.Rool has little chance by the way. Originally I did, but after reading the K.Rool support thread, I changed my mind.

How is grouping the canines different from grouping the reptilian like characters together? And ok if Bowser is a turtle-than the group can be "Reptile/Amphibian". Ridley is a dragon, ok well dragons are verey similar to dinosaurs and dinosaurs are very similar to dragons so Ridley is in the same boat as Bowser. Ridley does not have a beak as far as I am concerned, atleast in many photos it does not appear to be like a beak. Even if it was, his dinosaur/dragon features are more seen than his 1 bird like feature.

I don't think K.Rool has little chance by the way. Originally I did, but after reading the K.Rool support thread, I changed my mind.

Alright, well his argument is against the inclusion of three anthropomorphic canines from the same series. Fox and Wolf are much more similar than Bowser and Ridley. The argue you made is a bigger generalization. It is the same as comparing Ike and Link because they both are humans who have swords. The main arguments for Falco are that he would increase the variety to the series' representatives more than Wolf would, and the fact that he's already been in Melee, granted as a clone. It's just like how K. Rool would add more variety to the DK reps than Dixie would. I have nothing against Wolf, and think he's a great character, but I still think Falco has the advantage over him.

Also, to all those who wish to join the StarWolf Squadron, I will update the the membership to include you in 48 hours, since no one has come forth and claimed to be the founder of the group. I would like to leave it up to founding members to decide who is a member, but if they do not do so, then I will do it myself. Please be patient.
