I kind of hope that Geno doesnt really make it in brawl...although he has a pretty good chance being on Sakurai's poll and all...though other than that i dont see why he should be a character. The first time i have ever heard of geno was on these boards, and i still know nothing about him other than that he was from Super Mario RPG. I dont think Geno would be a great addition to brawl and should be cut from being a part of it (even if he does blow up Japan, lol). I mean, most people have forgotten about Geno...
Now you could say the same about Pit and Ice Climbers....but there is a remake of Kid Icarus coming out for the Wii which i can understand why Pit would be included in brawl to help advertise this game...and Ice Climbers was one of Sakurais favorite videogames, so yeah, hes gonna add them...so unless geno is coming up in another game or sakurai grows a fondness of geno, his chances of him being in brawl, are pretty slim....

Thats your opinion. According to reviews though, the game did fairly well. The only problem was that it was at the end of the SNES lifespan or gamespan, I dunno. =p

This is something I never understood about people debating rosters: why do people actually get upset over the discussion or inclusion of a character? I remember when Double Dash came out, I flipped because they had Baby Mario and Luigi. "Outrage! They're not even separate characters!" I cried. My friend turned to me, likely embarrassed for me, and said: "Man, listen. If they made a Star Wars fighting game and included both Anakin AND Darth Vader, would you be upset?"
"Well... I guess, yeah. It doesn't make any sense!"
"And if they had, let's say, Optimus Prime. You'd be mad?"
"Well, to be honest, that'd be kinda badass."
"So there's a positive side to weird and inane character additions, right? I mean, I may get upset that they have Anakin and Darth Vader in the same game. They're just the same guy, only 20 years apart in age. But then I think: 'wait a minute... I wouldn't want it any other way. If they wanted to make me a complete Star Wars game, they would have to include strange variations and additions. After all, that's what makes a game great in the end. The unexpected.'"
And I had to agree. I may not like the idea of somebody like Cloud or Master Chief or whomever else appearing in Smash Bros., but in the end it's not my decision to make and, frankly, it would actually be pretty cool if you think about it. Because, in the end, what does it translate to? More game. And that's all we want in the end. A full and happy roster we can enjoy for ages.

Ive never played Fire Emblem or any F-Zero games and im extremely happy that Ike is in the game and i also hope that at least Marth returns....i also hope Micaiah makes the cut. And Captain Falcon....yeah...self-explanatory....
And maybe its just where i live, but im probably the only person in my city who sort of knows who Geno is sort of kinda, lol. I'll accept the fact that Geno has a chance to be in brawl...and i wouldnt get upset if he did make it....i believe he would be pretty unique and an interesting character to play as...but i just dont see him making the cut....

I still say your argument is void because of Ice Climbers. How many of us heard of the Ice Climbers before Melee? As many or less as goes for Geno. (God I love the Ice Climbers card, it's the wild card for all arguments against a character.)
Obscure characters have every right to be in Brawl, as long as they were a key character in some game. Thus is the case of Geno.
Slightly off topic, but I hope they manage to bring SMRPG to Virtual Console soon. People need to appreciate this fantastic game.

Please dont get me wrong...im not trying to bash geno at all, i kind of hope he does make it from what i hear about him...i just dont really see him making the roster....and the Ice Climbers were thrown in there cause he was Sakurai's favorite character....
I also hope the Super Mario RPG comes out on Virtual Console soon as well...i would love to get the chance to play this game ive only heard good things about, lol.

Why do you not see him? Yes his game was 10-11 years ago, but older gamers(like me) remeber him and was an important character in the game. (I don't want to startthe "importance" arguement again. >.>) Although I can understand you don't know to much on your part so ya. (i'm not trying to be mean) Geno can go either way, but is most likely unless Nintendo and SE decide to have a war. >>

Really, he's not as unlikely as some of you like to believe; consider the following:
- 5 journal entries from Sakurai, only character to tie with that of King Dedede
- Did very well on the poll; best a 3rd party did poll-wise
- Shakiness of Megaman's inclusion because Keiji Inafune's interview, Geno could very well fill the last 3rd party spot
- A Square-Enix Musician working at Brawl, not only that mind you, the specific musician that composed "Forest Maze", Geno's theme song which was requested
- Assuming the Doc's gone, that's a good 2 open spots for the Mario series, considering it's safe to assume a major series will have one more character than the previous installment
- Rumoured SMRPG sequel/SMRPG DS - Smash could be used to advertise it very well
- One of those obscure, retro characters which Sakurai seems to love - as he said adding popular, current characters is boring and that's not all that will be in Smash
- More people know Geno than they did Roy and Marth at the time of their inclusion, which makes his "no one knows him" argument void

Edit: I realize most people who think Geno shouldn't be in Brawl think he's not "deserving". It bugs since that is something that is really based on opinion and they claim that as if it were a fact.

There's no last third party slot, my mistake, but how many characters are you honestly expecting to be third party in a 35-40 character roster?
(Especially considering that some of the suggestions come from the same companies i.e. Geno and Sora, Max and Bomberman, Megaman and Simon)

If there are more third parties than 3, I'm expecting 4 or 5 tops.
Also, Mega Man is Capcom. Simon Belmont is Konami. So it should be Simon and Snake.

Why should Konami get 2 reps? That's unfair for other 3rd parties. Namco, Hundson, Hell, even Capcom.

Point being, there's not going to be too many 3rd party characters, so I think Geno, if confirmed, just might be it. (Perhaps one more third party if anything? I don't really see five candidates joining the roster third party on a 35-40 char roster.)

This made me realise how close Brawl's release is. The leak might happen tomorrow for all we know. I want to avoid spoilers, but I want to find out if Geno is in as soon as possible.

What I made was a perfectly legit thread explaining my opinion that Geno is unworthy for Brawl. I tried to make it informative and, above all, funny. It wasn't supposed to be 100% true. Of course it was biased, you idiot! That was the point!
And yet the stupids mods lock it and tell me to post it here. Even when I did give it its own topic, you guys teared it to shreds! Are you telling me I'm not allowed to post my legit, real, and perfectly acceptable opinions anymore?
Also, MODS COME QUICK! THETHIRDKOOPA IS RECRUITING PEOPLE TO FLAME ME! How is it that this guy can just come into my thread, blatantly insult me, TELL OTHER PEOPLE to do the same thing, and then not be punished at all? While here I am, trying to make a thread about my actual opinion, and it gets locked 4 posts in. It's madness.
