i agree psychoincarnate, they wouldnt use star force mega man. He's completely different from the original and has a totally different story line and the whole nine yards

Well, the thing with Megaman is that every different look is a completely different character as a whole. But I predict that, if he's in, he'll either be Megaman or Megman.EXE, honestly.
But as for the recent design thing, I dunno, I think Sonic would look extremely ugly in Brawl if he had his recent Sonic the Hedghog (360/PS3) look where he could be as big as about a normal person. I'd say at least keep the desgin but shorten his legs out a bit where he'd be as big as Mario if anything.

No, not really he actual gives good reasons... i don't necessarily think Sonic deserves a spot in brawl but i cant deny his chances...

I finally got to the end of this thread and now I get to post my two cents. (Hooray!)
Now, let me admit, I love Sonic. I've been with him since I was old enough to hold a controller. I watched the cartoons every Saturday. I knew everything about him (around the time Sonic 2 was released) before I knew who Mario was. That does not mean I will be blinded by fanboyism, I just wanted to make my stance clear.
Now, NeoSoul, you keep posting about how Sonic would be a "minor character" if he were to be in Brawl, and you ask how Sonic fans would want that as opposed to Nintendo and Sega making a huge fuss about the matter. What you're not getting is that Brawl is a fighting game, and as such has no "minor characters". As far as Smash is concerned, Mario is no more significant than Pichu. As long as a character is playable, they have the same role in the game: to beat each other senseless. Granted, the Subspace Emissary is shaping up to be a regular epic set in the Smash Universe, but that in no way applies to what characters are going to be in. A story is dictated by its characters, not the other way around.
Feel free to disagree/debunk/whatever me, as I welcome the discussion. Bring it on!

I think Sonic in brawl will be very sussesful. Hes very popular and people have been waiteing for "Sonic Vs Mario." I know Mario and Sonic at the Olympus is comeing out soon but still. The game would sell Thosends or maby Millions! So I think he should be in. But to tell you the truth there havent been any sighs of him being in brawl so I think hes sadly out. But hay a fan can dream

I thought you were a HUGE sonic fan, why wouldnt you want him to have a major role, perhaps some involvement in the story line...

Sonic's role in Brawl couldn't be better timing. The Subspace Emissary is obviously threatening the entire world, why can't it be threatening Sonic's as well? It's been said more than one third party character will be playable in Brawl, so his liklihood is slim to none (at least, in my mind.)
I'll all for Sonic in Brawl. As epic as this game already is, having Mario, Sonic and Snake battle is just... more than words could say.

As I've said, Brawl is a fighting game, the story line is mostly filler. Granted, Subspace Emissary looks to be highly entertaining filler, but it is not the core of the game, unlike say, an RPG. Sonic doesn't have to be the big hero who saves everyone with a flick of his wrist, as long as he's playable, he has a big enough role.

The stories that take place outside of Smash don't apply here. All that matters is what happens in The Subspace Emissary. As for stories and characters, I could have worded it better. What I meant is that a story isn't set in stone until it is printed, and until then the creators can add and remove characters, plot twists, and whatever else they want.

1. Only as far as players are concerned.
2. Last I checked, Pichu doesn't do half of the things it can do in Melee in Pokemon.
3. Super Smash Bros. != Super Mario Bros. Are you sure we're talking about the same game?
4. Lots of characters are on the Melee box, doesn't change the fact that as far as the game is concerned, they all have the same significance, i.e. playable characters.
5. Because Giga Giant Turtle just makes sense. Haven't you ever heard of Godzillia?

I fail to see how one character out of 35-40 is going to ruin the game, unless he's so good that no one else can hope to compete, thus resulting in his being banned from use.
