I'm getting the message: "Disconnected from network during transmission. Error code:86420." Is that what you got?
Edit: After googling it I found this: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/results.jsp?error_code=86420&system=Wii&locale=en_US I haven't had any problems playing on wifi previously so I think it's on your side.

Hmmm, I can't join either. It's giving me that 86420 disconnected error.
Edit: Sometimes I'll run into someone that I can't play against for some reason. The same thing happened when I tried to play against my niece. I could play with anyone except her, I don't know why. Sorry man :/
