I won't even ask if I can come until I find out if my mates want to show up with me, but can anyone drop me a pm or something?

You can see I'm new, so I was wondering if there'd be friendlies going on during the actual tournament. I'm not good enough to play competitively so the only real reason I'd go is for practice. Though I'm not too much a waste of time, I know enough of the advanced tactics to act as a warm-up/practice for y'all (I hope...:ohwell: )

Anyway, I'd try not to get in the way if I can make it. Sweet work setting this up, good luck to ye all.

Dougie, you should definately come! It's as close to you as your ever going to get again, and there will be plenty of friendlies going on I'm sure. And you may as well enter the tournament too. It's the best way to learn and no-one will think your wasting time or anything else :) Even if its a 1 off then you'll have fun!

Greenwich <--- DLR to stratford, then Central Line Eastbound with a "Hainult via Newbury Park" or "Woodford via Newbury Park Train", get off at barkingside/gants hill station.

Dougie just come to the tournament. You won't be able to improve without experience and by playing with UK smashers you'll learn and progress. My brother calls me the 'worst smash player in the UK', but it still doesn't stop me from entering tournaments. In other words, there's no excuse not to come to this tournament :)

For more information on how to travel to the venue, check the first post.

A few very important things:

-People are travelling for this tourney. Therefore I think there should be prize money.
*For the second game, there are two rules:
++The loser can select a stage from the counter stage list.
++ If The loser does not change character, neither can the opponent/winner.
*If there is a draw on the 3rd game a 4th game will be set up but with 2 stocks and 4 minutes. The level will also be selected at random.
-What is this?I reccomend you just use Advanced Slob Picks.Ive never seen this ruleset before and ASP is better.

-Are TV's sorted?
How many are there?
Is it guaranteed that at least 6 will be at the venue?
Enough plugs and extensions?

-The stages are MESSED UP.The counter list is terrible, nevermind the fact that Onett is on and Kongo 64 isnt, and Battlefield is on random instead of DL64...I reccomend the ruleset from JST5 or MLG be used.If this one stays I almost definitely wont go to this. And can you please refrain from telling me that the stages that or on are for fun.I play this game for fun,and fun for me is not getting camped and dying really quickly on Onett,or getting camped and gayed by the boxes on Green Greens.Fun for me is an even match with someone who is fun to play on a flat stage.

-You need to confirm all of the above quickly.I am booking plane tickets, and they rise every two days or so.All of this should already be confirmed anyway.Particularly whether or not there will be prize money, which I reccomend because people will be paying travel costs(petrol or plane tickets),and that way they can earn it back.

I have nothing against anyone personally and dont mean any disrespect. But if things arent confirmed, then GMC,SDB and us Scottish probably wont come.

Ed are you able to make it?Whos going exactly?

True times Zeppo, this thread has been dead past few days, Doug needs housing and im sure a few others do - important.

This should be for money, Gary start sorting out whos coming and bringing what real soon. Oh and the tv situation like Zeppo said and how do you plan on getting them to the venue?

Charles can sort the stages get him to edit the first post, battlefield instead of dreamland on random bad times.

Not certain if im going yet, make this worth going to :)

***GENERAL ADVICE***

Seeing as you're in london, Housing the londoners, GMC and RAF won't be nessecary (If you can work with them to achieve this) There's also random other smashers that are from the south that might not need housing. If anyone going to this tourney is going home afterwards, ask them if they can house. If each of the southeners housed one person, I'm sure that'd nearly solve your problem with housing.

That aside, keep going with the overnight venue thing. If that falls in, try and get as many people travelling home, to take a northener home too, then said Northener could travel home afterwards the next day.

Money will bring people from far out, foreigners and each and every attendee's top game. If you wanna make this serious. There's gotta be a prize money, just instigate an entry fee and put all the entry free money into a prize pot and split it 60/30/10 (Or however else you wanna split it)

TV's and junk will have to be arranged with either attendants or TV hire. Cubes can be bought easily.

Please change that level list, it makes my face hurt.

I agree with what Zeppo said about confirming everything ASAP. The 6th is less than a fortnight away and travel arrangements are a lot of hassle and cost the closer to the tourney they're made.

Other than that, keep up the good work dude. Best of luck with making this happen. This tourney has the potential to be huge.

EDIT: Also seek help from anyone that can help in any way and I mean ANY WAY at all.

Regarding housing:
I cannot offer housing, because my dad's a c*** (if it were my house i'd house all the people in the world), so let's pray that he drops dead before Saturday 6th.

If the rules are upsetting people, I'll change them. I apologise for the low frequent posting. I've been working the whole week coming home knackered every night.

'6' People, wtf? At least 10 people came to the smashfest.

If people cannot find housing, the only option would be to travel and return on the same day.

If people want prize money, that's fine. The tournament will include single and double entry fee. As for TV's we'll have 3-5 TV's

It's not meant to be a big tournament.....but everyone decided that they should come and I'm unable to deal with the housing issues. If people want to come and have an issue with housing, can someone either offer housing or start forking out some cash for a cheap hotel.

The big tournament is going to happen summer 2007, this originally was a 'mini tournament' that people are trying to make 'big'.

Again, Big, small, whatever. We don't have many tourneys down south, so I won't be missing this one, if it's even still planned for the 6th. On a side note, I might be able to find some form of housing, but it isn't guaranteed.

zor.

no im not up for cash prizes - id rather it just be a free fest thing.

also, if there are more than like, 20 people coming, can you instead of just doing pure knockout, split the people up into groups of 4 each and do a round robin <a total of 6 games in that group> and put the best player through into the knockouts?

I'm pretty sure I can come to this, but would there be any chance of there being an N64 there?

We could set up a mini-SSB 64 tournament, and make sure it doesn't clash with the SSBM stuff.

Any updates?

Just found out a top Netherlands player who can beat me pretty often is gonna be in the south of England during this time, which has sparked my interest about 200% hehe.

Also anyone offering housing still? Possibly to both me and the dutch player? Think I had an offer a week or so ago from someone in Essex.
