Despite the fact that it disconfirmed two of my wanted characters and confirmed a character that I'm indifferent towards, I'm somewhat frustrated that the G&W leak died so quickly simply because it guaranteed a Direct this month and seemingly increased Ashley's chances. I'm just that desperate for new information. This wait is sooooo boring.

Oh well. We hardly knew ye, fake leak from a few hours ago.

I'm still convinced that a Direct is happening this month, however. This month is far too uneventful for Nintendo to not have one up their sleeve. I can't think of a worse way to (at the very least) maintain hype about a Smash game that comes out in December than to go over two months without any new information.

I am so desperate for new Smash info that I just watched all the Sm4sh characters do the Fortnite Dance on YouTube.

Please, Nintendo, don’t make me go through this!

Crazy to remember were going on 2 months without really any new info on modes and characters. Makes me excited to think it's gotta give sooner rather than later.

There has to be at least one reveal this month. I can excuse July because it was coming off the heels of E3, but there's no reason to not reveal anything now.

Pay attention on Friday to see if we see any information on Ashley. If they don't reveal her as an AT by then, then I think Ashley has a good chance of being playable. A character reveal the same day as WarioWare Gold is released would be even better.

Dang that leak was so short lived. I was kinda interested in seeing what would happen to the k rool fans and how the outrage would go about, I can see myself scared for papa sakurai at that point

A fake leak claiming K. Rool is not playable is just hilarious! But a fake leak claiming Ashley is not playable is unforgivable and punishable for up to 25 years in a federal prison!

To be honest I probably wouldn't have supported Ashley in Brawl, and maybe not even in Smash 4. My first introduction to the character was when her awesome theme song was posted on the Smash Bros. Brawl blog. But that didn't really set Ashley apart from any of Wario's other friends (as Mike and Mona both had their theme songs in Brawl as well).

With Smash 4, everything started to gradually change. Ashley was made an Assist Trophy and Smash Tour item (later a Mii costume), and her song was the only one featured on the Warioware stages. Then, of course, she underwent her big renaissance in 2015 - most notably with the Badge Arcade - culminating in a Mario Maker Mystery Mushroom costume (Wario was the only other WarioWare character to have one). And that made me think of Ashley as a viable contender for Smash. She checks all of the right boxes: lots of moveset potential (I like the idea of having her inflict status conditions, with the possibility of the curse backfiring and causing a beneficial one), is from a first-party franchise with a strong cast of recurring characters (poor Wario seems so lonely in the current roster!), has an interesting story, and is popular within the Smash community (partially because of her theme song). And it's very interesting that Nintendo has managed to keep her relevant, despite there having been no WarioWare games at all since 2013 (and arguably no real ones since 2007). Few if any other characters meet all of those criteria. Being a sticker in the first game, an Assist Trophy in the second game, and a playable fighter in the third game seems like a suitable career path.

tl;dr - Add me to the support list! Smash speculation is so much more fun when you have a guy to root for.

As for this week, I bet they reveal that new arrangement of Ashley's Song (translated to English) on Wednesday. Thursday is the Gamer stage, Friday is Wario as the featured fighter, and next week is all stuff unrelated to WarioWare. Would be the ultimate troll move.

What if someone says Ashley is going to be an AT again?

My hope is that this is a WarioWare week. Ashley's Song on Wednesday, Wario as featured fighter and WarioWare stage on Thursday, Ashley reveal on Friday. It's most likely not going to happen, but a Wario fan can dream.

Uh... I don't see the Fake Smash Ball on the official site that supposedly deconfirms this "leak". As far as I can see, the post of the day hasn't been made yet.

Unless things aren't updating on my side for some strange reason?

It's up on the Japanese blog, for me. Usually it goes up there a couple hours before the other regions blogs.

Yeah, I see it on the Japanese site now.

Strange that they would remove it from the other languages.

Edit: They might be having trouble getting the "Items" tab that hasn't been used yet to work. If I'm stabbing in the dark.

What's interesting is that there is yet to be an item from the WarioWare series. With all there is from that series I'm surprised they haven't come up with anything yet. Maybe if they made the Fronks an item you could pick up and throw at each other for some strange effect.

I say "we don't know that for sure" like any similar statement that can't be backed up with any kind of evidence.

Obviously if she is an AT again... while I support her, I can't honestly get mad, but that's because I enjoy the game anyway. Tons of my favorites are disconfirmed. I guess when you're 34 and lived through every Smash game essentially, you mellow out a bit. XD

VA for ashley never tweeted me back so it safe to say she likely won't
Well, at least we can decently assume she's under NDA(not that she is. She might not even be used but knows about Smash speculation and isn't going to say something because she cares about stuff like this, so don't want to hurt any secrets Sakurai likes to give us?), but not assume Ashley's playable. Though I don't know if the AT could get a voice even then, it's probably better to think this has a decent chance that the VA is being used for Smash.

Not getting my hopes up unnecessarily, of course.

To be fair, She has already responded that she wasn't contacted for Celica in Smash a few months ago.

Ashley never combs her hair, so Peach has to do it herself!

I really like the style!
Now I'm getting the urge to try to draw Ashley
From what I hear, Ashley is really easy to draw because her design is so simple. She's like Kirby, but a person, and cuter, fight me.

When I have enough time to learn how to draw again, she's the first character I'll try to make.

Nah man, I'm with ya on Ashley being cuter than Kirby

I've been out of the drawing scene for quite some time and I really want to get back into it and discover my style, unfortunately it's always slight challenge for me to draw anything with a human body, especially hands. Not enough to stop me from trying tho, I already went through multiple scrapped attempts with drawing the Squid Sisters before I was satisfied.

She's my next target after joining this hype train

Isn't that before e3?

My guess is she became under NDA recently. She isn't until contacted and can say what she wants. But that's a good point. It proves she wouldn't care unless under NDA, or at least we can guess that well.

Or she just decided to ignore the tweet regardless. Or she never saw it.

VAs and the like probably get a hundred mentions on Twitter every day. From what I can tell, she deconfirmed voicing Celica in Smash because some random person put it on her IMDb page, and people put stock into IMBd for whatever reason.

That being said... You guys, please don't edit her IMDb to say she voices Ashley in Smash. It is unnecessary. There isn't even that long of a wait to find out if Ashley is playable anyway in the grand scheme of things, so please be patient.
