Or she just decided to ignore the tweet regardless. Or she never saw it.

VAs and the like probably get a hundred mentions on Twitter every day. From what I can tell, she reconfirmed voicing Celica in Smash because some random person put it on her IMDb page, and people put stock into IMBd for whatever reason.

That being said, please don't edit her IMDb to say she voices Ashley in Smash.
I ain't a troll. But fair point. It's why I take her lack of response as more of a grain of salt, but acknowledge it could mean something.

Hope it's not too late to join the Ashley hype train. With Bayonetta being a more punchy kicky character, I think that Ashley would fit nicely in the roster as a more classic witch type character. She could cast all kinds of crazy spells, with one of them hopefully turning people into spoons. So yeah, the little witch has my support.

I would like to clarify that I meant "please do not edit her IMDb" to be directed towards everyone in the thread.

Also I apparently said "reconfirmed" instead of "deconfirmed", wow. I'm just gonna go back and edit that post at this point...

EDIT: Why did it say "reconfirmed" here too? What the hell? I must be tired...

That being said... You guys, please don't edit her IMDb to say she voices Ashley in Smash. It is unnecessary. There isn't even that long of a wait to find out if Ashley is playable anyway in the grand scheme of things, so please be patient.
I think if I were to do that, it'll just take the fun out of speculating ashley if she confirms/deconfirms voicing Ashley for smash. Especially when we're so close to smash ultimate

If we do get Ashley revealed this week, it is possible that EVO could use a newer build that includes her. I hope she gets used by some really good people so she can dominate EVO!

I would still love an Ashley reveal this week to coincide with the WarioWare Gold release. It wouldn't be the first time a character was added to promote another game.

We haven't gotten anything before at events that aren't directly from Nintendo, and not even always then. I don't think we'll get a reveal from Evo, but it'd be cool if we did.

Besides that, it also depends what would make the most sense. Some are predicting Heihachi there. IMO, I think a Fighting Game character shown off there is a good time for any character, but only if there is one they want to show off there. I also don't think he's that likely, as Sakurai turned him over before because he couldn't think of a moveset that was interesting. Seeing his gameplay, he's a simple martial artist, and while a cool character, my guess is he couldn't find a mechanic to work in. He had similar trouble with Ryu till the unique control method option came in(Traditional Fighting Game controls. I forget what Sakurai outright called his mechanic). I'm not going to call the character boring, cause that's unfair. But when you have someone who is a basic martial artist, you might not get easy inspiration. For instance, Fox is a martial artist too, but he already had more than that. This can hurt Heihachi's chances. They're not dead until we know otherwise, of course.

I don't anticipate anything for EVO, but if we were to get a new character, I'm sure anyone could be revealed and people would get excited, so long as the character looks interesting.

On a side note, is it just me, or is today's blog post not showing up on any of the language settings other than Asian-Pacific (sans Australian)?

Conspiracy: What if Smash is reusing lines from Lindbeck's WW Gold's Voice sessions, so if she was in the game, she wouldn't know about it.

Who knows? :3
Wait: would Erica Lindbeck really be Ashley's voice actress if she got into Smash? If so, that's honestly an amazing thought especially since I got to meet her in person earlier this year.

It isn't out of the ordinary for Nintendo to recycle voice clips, but the only case I can think of where Smash uses voices from non-Smash projects are the Koopalings. Everyone else either gets new voice clips, or retains the voice from the previous Smash game.

Edit: A few Mario and Zelda characters in 64 and Melee also had recycled voice clips, doi. I know that Mario and Luigi from Brawl onward had original VA work done. Not sure about the Zelda characters.

From what I heard, even with recycled lines, they still need permission and contact the voice actor.
Dang, I would've thought something in the contract could say, "We are free to use your voice clips for other projects". I wish this information was more open.

Oh well, at the very least that would show that the timing for her voice's conclusion isn't that strict.

Don't the Links have their voices reused from the Zelda games?

I actually mentioned that in the edit of the post you quoted, haha. I was mostly thinking about Brawl and Smash 4 when I wrote that post, and then remembered that voice clips from Mario 64 and OoT were recycled for the first two Smash games.

I'm just waiting for Sakurai to crush everyone's hopes and dreams like he did with e3. (the thing with Waluigi, Knuckles, Krystal, Takamaru, AND Bomberman all being deconfirmed in one go) geez, that was rough.

Woops. Must've skimmed and missed it. Anyways, it sounds to me that the links got new voice clips. Considering that this is the precedent now, they probably would use new voice clips for the newcomers too.

I do think there will be at least 7 more newcomers and have a good reasoning for this. Only 7 characters had to be completely remade in HD (The seven cuts from past games). Also, we've only had 2 full blown newcomers (Inkling and Ridley, both being popular at the time of roster finalization) that show that sakurai is listening to fans this time around. Thats only 9 "newcomers" so far, and 2 are semi-clones so getting 7 more would be easily possible, considering we consistently get around 14-15 per game. I think this gives Ashley and other fan favorites a solid chance, especially with DLC being likely.

Part of me wishes they didn't bring back everyone, because the limited roster space left kinda hurts Ashley's chances. While the other part is hyped at the thought of Ashley making it into such a penultimate game, and possibly duking it out with Cloud, Ryu, and Snake.

I'm thinking the same. Probably five newcomers (not including Inkling and Ridley), two echos. I'm not giving up on Ashley and K Rool until they're officially confirmed either as playable or ATs. At most we'll get 10 newcomers. I'm keeping my expectations low.

Unless Heihachi somehow makes it in, I doubt a character shown at EVO would have any tie ins or any reason to be shown. It will probably just be whoever Sakurai wants lol.

Or a Soul Calibur character like Nightmare. Though honestly, I'm not expecting a reveal(unless it's an Echo like Ken, and even then, probably not then). Or Scorpion.

I do agree that if you're going to reveal a character, they should be from a fighting game. Doesn't necessarily mean Heihachi is going to be it. He's possible, but we don't know if Sakurai ever reconsidered him at any point. He's in the same boat as a lot of other ones like, as I said, Scorpion, Nightmare, and Ken. Problem is the other 3 are also easier to imagine due to having a bit more specific abilities. Heihachi is very cool, but trying to fit a mechanic in is a bit harder with basic martial arts. I'm not one to say he's "boring", just "hard to work with". I always viewed Bomberman in the same light. While he has a basic concept, making the bomb moveset flow with balance is not nearly as easy. I've seen some neat ideas mentioned, though never saw a moveset on the guy myself. Oddly enough, I think Scorpion is the only moveset I ever actually saw, and that was only some B moves or a mod that still needed a bit more polish(but looked pretty good).

Watch us get Kantonian Raichu as the new joke character. (Unless people consider Daisy a joke)

One thing that makes me wonder is why Vergeben recently claimed Isabelle is in Smash. There was no context behind his statement. Does he think the next character to be revealed is Isabelle?

That being said Nintendo isn't one to reveal a proper character that fits the intended audience of said event. Case in point Cranky Kong at the 2103 VGX. For that reason, I think Ashley or Isabelle are likely to be revealed if there is new Smash news at EVO.

Nintendo might hold a Direct separate from the event but, broadcast it live within the event to receive further exposure and crowd reaction.

I'd like to think that's what Nintendo will do because it makes sense but, we're talking about Nintendo here.

One thing I generally always keep in mind is that this is Sakurai, he likes to surprise his fans by trying to lower their expectations. I remember being bat**** scared about the ''Smash 4's roster will be smaller than Brawl's'' that was floating around at the time. 7-10 characters left sounds pretty decent to me.

I'm still waiting for real evidence on the Vergeben leak because isabelle is definitely not the most popular MIA AT character right now.

Loz18, someone who leaked real information, said to follow him. Of course, Vergeben could still be completely false, but he has some things going for him

But just adding Isabelle to Simon Belmont with no reason as to why makes it a little sketchy.

While not opposed to her inclusion, personally, I don't care much for the character Isabelle. I am warming up to the idea of Isabelle in Smash, however, prior to the leak I had mixed feelings towards Isabelle's chances for playability in Smash. I would say I think she is more likely than what the rest of the Smash community is saying. I wouldn't put my life on the line for Vergeben but, I find what he is saying to seem really plausible. Sakurai seems to have a thing for these quirky characters after all.

I do think Isabelle getting in the game looks good for Ashley. The two have many things in common. In fact, it's rather likely Ashley outperformed Isabelle in the Smash Ballot. If that's the case, then Isabelle's inclusion must mean we're getting Ashley.

That bodes well for Ashley. If an AT like Isabelle can make into the game as playable, then why not a much more popular AT character like Ashley?

I would not be shocked is Isabelle makes it in, although I suspect that she'd be an echo of Villager. Ashley is too unique and would be a completely new fighter.

Can't say I care for Isabelle either although I see a lot of people sleeping on her popularity. However, even though she is a bonafide A-lister, her moveset potential is lackluster. Ashley, on the other hand, has crazy potential; having Red transform for attacks, inflicting de-buffs potentially, having a unique visual quirk with her hair turning white, she really writes herself.

Although I will say, I hope we don't get Nikki as a result of the former two getting in. I really do feel like that would be a waste of a slot (though I think it's more possible than people might think).

Has Sakurai ever given a reason why a Wario Ware character was never playable all this time? That he just thought Wario represented the franchise until he became aware of Ashley's popularity during Smash U?
