I would like it but it won't happen.

I wish Jiggs was tossed out for someone else but eh.

Mewtwo is probably gonna be in either way :)

I don't understand why people keep saying we want Sceptile over Mewtwo. I want both of them, and I believe Mewtwo is likely. I want Sceptile over Jigglypuff. Jiggs is a joke character that's stayed far too long. It's not nearly as relevant as it was, even with it's new fairy type. It's fallen off. I could argue Granbull is relevant again due to it's new type. The only reason Jiggs is even remembered is the anime, which it hasn't appeared in for years and Smash. And we know Jiggs was low priority in Brawl. With more than 700+ other contenders, why should Jiggs come back? Original 12? That's a poor excuse if you ask me. Everyone in the original 12 has their merits and still rep their series except Jiggs.

And sure, Blaziken might be the popular Hoenn starter, but you can't ignore a few things:
1. Blaziken got a Mega. And it was already advertised. The hype revolving around it is done. Imagine at E3 we get a trailer for OR/AS and we see Mega Sceptile (it was already trademarked, so it is likely). Then immediately we get a Smash trailer revealing Sceptile. That's a great way to not only hype the new Pokemon games, but to hype Smash. Especially since the Wii U version will most likely be out after OR/AS.
2. The type triangle. Fire beats Grass, Grass beats Water, Water beats Fire. This is the first thing every Pokemon player is taught. We have two of the three, seems odd we wouldn't get the last piece. Blaziken is fire/fighting, both of which are already represented with Charizard and Lucario. 64 and Melee didn't have any piece of this triangle before and Brawl brought all 3. Why wouldn't Sakurai add it in again?
3. Sceptile is the most popular Grass starter. And in that regard, it's bipedal. Meaning it could actually fight without looking odd compared to other fighters. Chesnaught, the only other bipedal Grass starter, is unlikely due to Greninja already being in for a 6th gen rep. We don't have a starter from 3rd gen. And you all know a bipedal Grass lizard with leaf blades on it's arms is cool.
4. Sceptile is not new. People are saying we're not going to get anything from OR/AS because they'll be too new. But R/S is from 2003. That's hardly new. And Sceptile itself isn't new. Meaning it can easily be there.

I think the perfect set up would be Pikachu, Mewtwo, Lucario, Charizard, Sceptile, and Greninja. /endrant

There's really no good reason to cut Jigglypuff.
We may as well get 7 Pokemon characters, I honestly wouldn't mind.

Me too. :)
But Blaizken would work incredibly well in Smash, imo.
That's true, the problem is that is hard to make him "unique" want it or not, he use fire based attacks (Charizard), but he fight in close range (Lucario), he mostly use his legs to fight (Sheik) and is a bird (Falco)..., that doesn't mean that he can't have an unique gameplay

Jigglypuff? Screw Sceptile. Not to say he's necessarily bad, but I don't want him in my Smash bros.

This is what I want. I didn't think Sceptile had a shot unless a remake was coming, but now that one definitely is I'm hoping and praying him and Mewtwo get in and Jigglypuff gets the boot.
I would like that too.

I like the idea of Sceptile.
I like the idea of Blaizken.
But I don't want either one of them getting in at Mewtwo or Jigglypuff's extent.
Not that Jigglypuff deserved it to begin with, but I love Jiggs, and I'd be sad to see her go, as would many others.

Why not? Sceptile is a cool option, i understand that you prefer someone else over him, but why don't you like the idea of having him in Smash? :dr^_^:

Note: Jigglypuff won't be removed... :drshrug: just saying
Pikachu, Jiggly, Mewtwo, Lucario, Charizard, Greninja. 6 reps, which Mario itself may not even have. Besides, we're missing a first-stage PKMN. Treeko would be better imo, or even Turtwig.

Well jigglypuff is really only relevant to smash now and mewtoo may not make the cut. I would be fine with genescet and sceptile and the other pokemon reps being dlc

I totally agree with you, i want Sceptile in the game, but i don't want them to take out Mewtwo or Jigglypuff, why? cause i love mewtwo:drohyou: and... Jigglypuff is from the original 12 and i would feel like something is missing if she gets removed :drsad:

Well we know it doesn't really matter if Pokemon have more character than Mario (look at Brawl, but i do understand the idea), and... well... we could say that we don't have a second form of any pokemon (Lucario only have 1 evolution, so is not considered his second form, it's seen as his last evolution, so... right now we only have ultimate evolutions so it doesn't really matter)

I can understand the Mewtwo doubt, but why would Genesect make it in over Mewtwo, and even Sceptile wouldn't make much sense over Mewtwo. Personally I'm feeling that if Pokemon does get 6 reps (as it likely will) Mewtwo is 100% one of them.

And @ Maxilian Maxilian watch the double posting. ;)

If Sceptile is playable, then we should know that he could be revealed as unlockable on November.
But by then, the 3DS game would have already been out.

More likely, IF character DLC happen and IF we were to get Sceptile (though I really don't see him happening to be honest even if we get a 3rd gen Pokémon), we could see him add through something like this:
The roster for SSB 3DS & Wii U is already finalized. Assuming that planning for OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire started a year before Pokémon X & Y is released; that would mean that the roster had already been decided and as such, a 3rd gen character cannot get in. However (hypothetically speaking), the Pokémon Company is made aware that Sakurai is doing character DLC in this game. Knowing that a 3rd gen character can't be in the initial roster yet still wanting one in Smash, the Pokémon Company seizes an opportunity to push for a 3rd gen rep. Eventually, Sakurai caves in and begins work on adding 3rd gen character/stage as DLC (let's say they start work on July, 2014).

Then on mid-September, 2014, Sakurai announces a new DLC package for the 3DS version, but does not specify. Despite speculation over cut veterans being added back together or even a very highly requested newcomer that missed out on the initial roster, it is revealed at an early October Nintendo Direct that it is a DLC package packed with 3rd gen content. Blaziken is revealed as a playable character, Sootopolis City is revealed as the 3rd gen stage, and musics from OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire are also present (costing $5 to get initially, although when promotional values runs out, is later made free). It is then highly promoted until the DLC releases in early November, 2014; in time to promote the release of OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire later in the month. Not only that, Blaziken, Sootopolis City and music from OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire are also made available from the start on the Wii U version as they have also been working on putting them on the Wii U version.
I mentioned Blaziken since I'm expecting him if we get any 3rd gen reps, but you could always replace him with Sceptile.

I agree, also i don't think Genesect will end up being part of the roster

Yeah, i know but is so annoying to edit my comment or to post to different people at the same time:drsad:, i really think these page should have a auto-merge system to evade double post, but meeehhhh i will try not to double post (Also... there's isn't a delete comment options, so i can't just edit my messages to put both things in one and delete the second post) :drshrug:

First Stage as in NOT EVOLVED AT ALL (Pikachu doesn't count, he evolves from Pichu technically). And Jiggs. Mewtwo is the only one in his line, so he doesn't either.

I wasn't counting Mewtwo, he doen't even have an evolution so... :drshrug:well you get it, Pikachu is in not because he represent a second or third or whatever evolution, is because he's the face of pokemon, just look at him :i6rkW: :drohyou:, ermmm:drwtf: i mean..., LOOK AT HIM! :pikachu::drohyou:, and Jiggs :drohmy:.... i have no good argument here.... :S

Note :Remenber that most people are basing the idea of Sceptile in the idea of 3 starter pokemons, of different generations and different types so it would be weird to have one of them in the first stage when all the others are in the last stage, also damnit i should not use so many icons, but.... i like to use them... a lot! :drsad:

GameFreak obviously planned to make a remake of the third generation, it's the most requested thing for them to do at this time! They remade the first and second generations, they probably had a timetable for the third. Why did it take so long for them to do it, I don't know, but there is no way they only started planning the remakes a year before X/Y's release.

I've got to ignore the eight posts above me or so because thy acually star to read as if a Martian wrote them, by the time Drifblim hieroglyphics are used as a means of communication. That all stages of evolution need to be represented (without PT being in that is insensible) or any other absurd rule a fan made up just as they were posting.

I'm not here to argue Jigglypuff being unnecessary, that her being in the first game does not give her a free pass to be in all of them for the rest of time, that if any a time to remove her, this neogenesis of a game is the best time to.
Nor Mewtwo, who seems evident.

I'm here to side with the side of Sceptile.
For me, these games being announced rather stated how evident he needs to be in.
How would he be different from others? I'm not entirely sure; he has a couple of obstacles to overcome, but I don't see that as anything difficult to accomplish.
For marketing, just as Game Freak would have likely pushed Greninja on Sakurai, long ago- (sakurai stated the roster was known before xy were out, and also stated his criteria for a pokemon rep involving the movies and game freak heavily), I believe they could have pushed Sceptile (or, at least mentioned these games being released).

Am I the only one who thinks that the fact that Greninja uses water blades is a significant point against Sceptile? Those sort of elemental arm blades are the things you'd think would be reserved for Sceptile if he was playable.

You don't have to be rude, also these's a forum to talk about our own opinion and what we think about SSB4, just because you don't agree doesn't mean that the idea is absurd.

Nope, you're not the only one who thinks that, but is good to have some hopes :drflip:

Doubt it, it's really more about the styles they fight with them. We've got several sword wielders in the game, but they fight in different ways. Just the fact that Greninja holds his swords while Sceptile has them coming out of his wrists makes them fight with different styles.

I don't know about that. Looking over the way Greninja uses the blades, I could easily picture Sceptile ping the exact same thing with his blades. And keep in mind, Greninja never actually uses water blades. They made that up for Smash. Why make up something like that for a character when there's another character that relies on that ability? It just doesn't add up. Unless, of course, Sceptile isn't in.

or just in the same way they could come up with something that Sceptile doesn't ever do, just like how they did with Greninja, in general we can speculate as much as we want but we know anything could happen :dr^_^:

Brawl's roster was finalized in July 7th, 2005, before development even started. It was done so late cuts could be made without interfering with productivity of development and that additions made later in develop were very difficult. Considering this, there's no reason not think that the roster was decided from the start or at least very early in development. Anything after Summer, 2012 would be too late for additions.

I was laying down a hypothetical scenario for a 3rd Gen Pokémon to get in as DLC, I did not say I knew that development on OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire started after Pokémon X & Y ended development. I have said it was likely, but that's not me stating a fact. I said it was likely because they can reuse models from X & Y which should significantly speed up development. For the game to be developed and released in a year can happen; even with a year of planning.

If development did start after X & Y release, that's way after the roster was decided. Even if the game was planned in late 2012, it would still be too late for a 3rd gen rep to get in the initial roster. I'll admit to the possibility that I'm wrong about this, but I don't think I am.

Technically Pikachu and Jigglypuff were first stage pokemon in Smash 64, since Gold/Silver wasn't out yet.

I was referring to THIS installment specifically.
Well why would I want to play as a runt like Froakie when I can play as the superior Greninja? Its not like there has to be a first stage pokemon.

Pikachu and Jigglypuff are first stage. Pichu and Igglybuff are baby pokemon which are only obtainable through breeding.

I'm sure some people could argue that it was because of Fire Red and Leaf Green, especially when PT's design in Brawl was based on FR/LG Red. In a way, we do have a similar situation here, just with R/S remakes. Though I guess that would essentially indicate a Hoenn Trainer or something, which we all know won't happen. But I'm just saying.

Anyway, I have to say, I don't think Sceptile is likely at all (the hype DID get me a bit earlier haha), but I definitely wouldn't mind if he got in.
Except....as I've said, Emerald was the latest game when Brawl's development started.
FR/LG came before Emerald.

And yet we still got Lucario :awesome:

Brawl's roster was finalized in July 7th, 2005, before development even started.
Bulbapedia said:
Lucario and the Mystery of Mew (Japanese: ミュウと波導の勇者 ルカリオ Mew and the Wave-Guiding Hero: Lucario) is the third Pokémon Advanced Generation movie, and the eighth of all Pokémon movies. Premiering in Japan on July 16, 2005, it introduced four new Generation IV Pokémon, Lucario, Bonsly, Mime Jr. and Weavile.
Yeah, imagine that.

Though to be fair, supposedly Lucario hadn't been decided upon as the "new Pokémon" until later much like Greninja.

Even if they were going to take that as a concideration i don't think they will do that with Sceptile, why? cause as i said before we already have 2 starter pokemons in their last form, so it would be weird to have the one who complete the cicle ends up being in its initial form :drohyou:
I could see the "chain" being broken, but only for Groyvle rather than Treecko since, let's face it, Grovyle is the more iconic member of the evolutionary line thanks to Mystery Dungeon.

I doubt Sakurai wouldn't know about the movie before its release.
.....That was my point.
That it shouldn't have been surprising that Lucario was added due to the movie premiering not too long after the roster finalization.
