If GF themselves sent in the characters to Sakurai then I'm even more convinced now.
Yeah definitely would be too, @ pupNapoleon pupNapoleon brought up a good point last page right here:

I could see Greninja being decided on BECAUSE of sceptile.
"Oh, well we have Charizard. I am making a new starter trio; I've got sceptile, a popular grass final. What about.... oh, this water guy looks cool Got it."
GF could of easily recommended Sakurai Greninja and Sceptile to fill the missing voids for balancing out the numbers of PKMN to use. I don't wanna hear any "yeah but Brawl PT was one character, with 3 PKMN", simply because no matter how you say it, there was 6 playable PKMN last smash. P:M despite not made by Sakurai and isn't canon it's huge and it promotes all 6 pokemon from Brawl including Mewtwo! Sakurai removing the transformation mechanic hinders PT with 3 PKMN as an option at this point hence why only Charizard remains of the 3.

Not sure if this matters but I'll say it anyway, hasn't ash had Sceptile, Greninja and Charizard as important members of his party? Maybe this means something XD.

Ya know what, Anime is canon. Anime affects the Smash games. Sceptile's Profit GJ ASH you did something right..Ash single-handedly decided the PKMN roster for Sm4sh! Everyone approves!:4charizard::4greninja::4lucario::substitute::4pikachu::mewtwopm::ivysaur::squirtle::pichumelee:

Did Sakurai specifically state that he didn't pick Greninja because of his typing?
http://smashboards.com/threads/saku...-in-one-nights-time-wow.358196/#post-16914145
Starts at minute 50, Greninja wasn't chosen due to his type, if GF is the one who decided which pokemon can be in the game, they would obviously choose blaziken, just look at him, he was marketed way before ORAS was announced, he is playing a big role in the x and y anime, and is the only hoenn starter so far that you could get in X and Y without the need of pokemon bank, Greninja is a special case as he was unknown and Sakurai just picked him because he was interested, but the most popular pkmn of RSE are already picked, GF would probably chose the most popular pkmn to be in smash just like Sakurai mentioned

It is a point that has been made and has some crediblity due to the anime factoring in on Smaah decisions,
:4greninja:'d
Secondly, the battle between Ash's Sceptile and May's Blaziken ended in a draw, being that Sceptile was at an extreme disadvantage, the tie along with Ash having Sceptile suggests the writers find Sceptile to be better and more important than Blaziken, otherwise Ash would have had Blaziken and destroyed May's Sceptile. (or got destroyed by Swampert, whatever) The company like Sceptile, the competitive fans like Blaziken. Favor still seems in Sceptile's court.

I respect your typing ultima, but ATM I'm riding my own Sceptile hype train I won't even think about stopping this hype with a grind. I'm riding the whole way there~ If the last stop is Sceptile OR Blaziken...so be it..I'll ride all the way~ Like the Little Engine that could

I obviously can't make you reconsider your silly Blaziken reasoning but I will say this, Blaziken represents a lot of what we already have in smash. Sceptile doesn't. Blaziken represents two typings that we already have in smash. Sceptile doesn't. Blaziken will not get in over Sceptile, it would make no sense for GF to recommend a pokemon that has factors that are already heavily represented in Smash. Smash isn't a popularity contest. Wii fit trainer and potentially chorus men prove that. Blaziken just wouldn't make any sense at this point. Accept it.

You got a point there. But then again... any trainer is better than Ash.:troll: Now if that was a real PKMN trainer... like say Red and his charizard... that Blaziken would of been JV 3-stocked

Blaziken kicks and punches just like any other character, sceptile would use swords like link, pit, etc, Blaziken has as much moveset potential as sceptile and that logic of "X would be a Y clone" logic doesn't work with Sakurai, he made a moveset from greninja in 1 one night, the types of the pokemon isn't what matters, it would make sense that GF would recommend the winner of the 3rd generation startes over the 2/3rd place, don't you think? Did you even read the article? PKMN characters aren't chosen like the rest of the series, they are picked based on their popularity, otherwise we would have pokemon like arbok or weezing, Why should Sceptile get over Blaziken? The only advantage he has is typing, something that is never confirmed to matter in smash

We have Mario, Falcon, Lucario, and Little Mac, Charizard. Making moves outside of theirs for Blaziken is unnecessary work when Sceptile has more unexhausted potential. Especially if Ivysaur gets the boot.

Valid point you have there sir....But...Who said I was talking about Hand-helds?:yoshi2:(my new troll-worty smirk face)
Try Red in Pokemon Origins sucka~, Red's Charizard can become Mega Charizard X in Gen. I (Jk). Red can JV 3 stock Harrison's Blaziken hands down!

Sceptile's blades are part of his arms. He essentially fights with his elbows.. I guess Captain Falcon throws an elbow.. Sceptile also a Captain Falcon clone:troll:

But seriously. We're not going to get two fire starters. It's poor representation of the games. Sceptile has much more diverse moveset potential in how his moves would work. They won't exhaust themselves and their creativity on Blaziken when he doesn't bring anything new to the table. Not to mention custom moves Pokken Fighters will cover him if/when it happens. This is a Sceptile support page. We've done enough Blaziken coverage.

Agreed. Mega Sceptile would beat both Mega Charizard X/Y & Mega Blaziken in a draw anyways.

If Blaziken joins we'll get yet another character that uses fire. We have plenty of characters that use fire bro, plenty. Blaziken would not rep ORAS as much as a character that recently got a mega evolution specifically for those games. As I said before there are plenty of characters that use fire. How many characters do you see using vines and leaves as weapons?

Edit: my bad, no more Blaziken, got it, agreed.

Here's the real punch-line. How many characters do you see using Mega Evolution as a dragon type starter that's gonna rep for ORAS? With a Tail using vines, leaves, and weapons?

I dig that. I think so far I've been the only person on this thread giving out a certain move-set spread for the certain move with the certain mechanic but I talked about Grass Pledge being in Sceptile's move-set not as a singular move for himself to use but as a team synergy move for Team Battles as well. If :4charizard:&:4greninja: knew Fire/Water Pledge, PKMN doubles would look amazing with those team Pledge moves combined into super powerful attacks doing different effects.

Generally thinking a grass PKMN fighter I think of a tactician fighter who uses Grass knot for the scaling of good MU's vs heavies, as many have said for the move. Including other things like Leech seed planted on opponents like Snake C4, anytime your teammate hits them he gets a % heal proc or something...

I'm rooting for Sceptile. Fire types are beyond overrated, not to mention there's already plenty of fire-based moves in Smash spread across at least a third of the roster if not more.

We need some Grass up in here!

Sceptile hits people with leaves, I'm so hyped about him, moveset potential is not enough to be in smash, especially if you are pkmn character, otherwise we would have pokemon like weezing or delibird, Blaziken will probably be the winner AGAIN of the 3rd generation, there is no real reason to add sceptile over blaziken
Moveset potential? Sakurai knows how to make moveset potential
Popularity? Blaziken is clearly the favorite starter of the 3rd generation, which is what Gamefreak wants

You're forgetting vines, seeds, his tail and ofc his leaf blade trademark (even though you said hitting with leaves). Bro Sceptile has a lot more move-set potential to work with than Blaziken (not that Blaziken doesn't I'm only saying Sceptile has more ideas to use for damage/utility/team-play/mechanics), and Mega Evolution possibly being a thing for his FS gives him Dragon type which they may or may not add in, but IF they do that's even more unique quality to a freshened grass type starter in a new smash game. =/ You're selling Sceptile too short.

No, you're wrong, stop ignoring our valid reasoning by spouting the same popularity nonsense. If adding pokereps was solely a popularity contest, Puff would have been out long ago and every single Eveelution would be in. Sceptile makes more sense gameplay wise and he makes more sense as a game promoter.

How about no? Moveset potential isn't enough, Puff is only back because she is easy to make, she was almost cut from brawl anyway, I though that being a game promoter means that you would put the most popular in the game, blaziken>>>>sceptile, What does Sceptile offers that is unique anyway? Leaf blades? Let's make a quick Blaziken moveset, shall we?
Blaze kick: A serie of burning kicks
Stone edge: Blaziken throws rocks in all directions
Brave bird: A powerful recovery that does recoil damage
Counter: Blaziken takes damage, he counters with a powerful attack
He would be a light fighter with a lot of power
There you have a moveset made in 1 minute and most of them aren't used by other characters, How would sceptile make more sense as a game promoter? Blaziken is the most popular starter of the generation

Greninja was choosen before XY release cuz GameFreak and sakurai know that he would be the most popular.
Sceptile would be choosen before Oras Release becuase Gf and sakurai know he will be the most popular. Thats why they gave out mega Blaziken Early, the hype is not longer real for him.

That.....that makes dollars are you rich? Do you even need sense anymore?

Edit: @ U ultimatekoopa

The only thing I'll debate of Sceptile being more likely chosen over Blaziken is not because of popularity, elemental type, Mega Evolution, anime franchise, move-set potential, or competitive tier level. I'm debating in Sceptile's favor that he can bring more mechanics to Sm4sh's table of metagame.

Why? I gotchu. First, Solar-powered pokemon: this alone brings up whether he has ability to SBC (solar beam charge) based off any stage buffing like that rumored ORAS PKMN stage of Kyogre and Groudon clashing weather effects bringing in drought sunlight powering up Sceptile (This works for Charizard/Blaziken too cus powers up fire moves).
Second, Sceptile's grass mechanic alone can bring in synergy for more than just himself. Seeds introduced may be used as healing items or weapons for Team Battles, something that a character doesn't really have quite often (Lucas PSI Magnet).

Third is a follow-up from Second more of speculation, because healing as a self-usable mechanic is highly useful as Leech Seed can be a useful tactic for single and competitive play.

Finally my Fourth reason in favor for the Forest Master is his compatibility into the roster. Not being just a grass type using his type to have good team-play with about anyone, while Fire as a type has never been shown to be utilized as anything but a selfish type (same with water except the water gun option of pushing teammates or enemies away). But again, Sceptile would be completely fresh compared to Ivysaur cut. I'm kind of being bias with elemental type BUT anyone would feel that way if we didn't see Charizard with instead Blaziken replacing his spot which would make some sense had Charizard not been confirmed.

The couple of topics are solid but 3 & 4 are kinda biased/already discussed but owell.

Actually upon thinking too hard about it, We should of just thought simply and clear about this guys...We're about to look real derp n slurp after i say this.

The reason Sceptile would make it over Blaziken is not for any reason at all. We support him and love him to be in the game <3 Shoutouts to Forest Master<3

I think he'll get in due to the high amounts of innovation that Sakurai is implementing this time around, maybe that's just me though.

I love Sceptile but I don't want another Marth. :troll:

----
Sceptile would get either bullet seed or energy ball, if not both. Sceptile would have plenty of projectiles to work with. I'm not to familiar with Marth as I don't often play as him, but I would think Sceptile would have a much higher jump as well.

But...but...Dr. Mario got in P:M as a palette swap D:

But yeah I do hope Sceptile isn't a marth clone. That would be lame-fest Sceptile has more potential than being a grass swordsman (even though that's how he's kind of portrayed as in anime). The last sentences in this:

http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1970393/pokemon_in_super_smash_bros_how_theyre_selected.html
don't only account for popularity afterrall, cool.
Again, highly doubt he will be a clone. Actually in the anime a lot is made of his other attacks, the first big thing he goes through as a Treeko is trouble with leaning Bullet Seed. Ash has to teach him himself by spitting out seeds so he knows how to use the move. He also learns SolarBeam right after he evolves into Sceptile (if my memory serves correct, he may of learned it at a different time). He can also learn energy ball which is another projectile, dragon claw and dragon tail could both be different smashes so it's just not Leaf Blade. And as a grass starter he can also learn Leaf Storm, Frenzy Plant, and Grass Pledge. All would make unique smash moves, Frenzy plant especially. Roots coming out of the ground that send your opponent flying....yes please.

EDIT: To the guy who keeps saying Blaziken is more popular, not anymore according to google. Sceptile just saw a huge spike due to the new games. And you know that they knew this was going to happen.

ll right, @ U ultimatekoopa is being excessively selective with the information he chooses to listen to (popularity means------- , originality is important to sakurai because he says----), so i'm just going to redirect the argument to another important point.

((edit in: ULTIMATELY, everything Sakurai says needs to be taken with the fact in mind that he is specifically trying to keep us from guessing the characters. Everything.))

What is going on in the anime right now? I imagine ash is around the fourth badge in japan, and I'm wondering if there is any indication of him getting sceptile back (as I do believe he has charizard and a.... froakie on him?)

Seeing as Sceptile is one of the few Pokemon Ash has that has received a Mega Evolution, I would be shocked if he didn't come back. But no, there is no indication at this point (At least to my knowledge)

Mega Blaziken was leaked on Serebii in August 2013 last yeah right? So MBlaziken has been known about 10 months now...

August 2013 = Sceptile 12 & Blaziken 44 (Edit: If MegaBlaziken was announced here why wasn't it more popular then?)
October 2013 = Sceptile 14 & Blaziken 87!!! (This is when Mega Blaziken was HOT news)
That's completely understandable because October was then and happening with X&Y. The problem is it being right now that Blaziken drastically dropped to regular ratings BUT considering that ORAS was announced in May or leaked, and Mega Sceptile and Mega Swampert were both revealed just this month:
May 2014 = Sceptile 26 & Blaziken 35 (Anticipation for Sceptile & Swampert megas)

June 2014 (right now) = Sceptile 100?!?! & Blaziken 43?

This google rating shows just how much Sceptile's popularity rate in less than 2 weeks time for never having a Mega Evolution announcement until now. With Smash being almost right around the corner and Sceptile now getting a Mega confirm, Sceptile instantly became more popular than Blaziken x2. If based off this google rating, GF and Sakurai knew that Mega Sceptile would be more popular (like he is now and he's not even been played yet) GF would promote Sceptile in Sm4sh.
