People have said that the music added was really fake. Supposedly, the katakana in that song title is for the SMW Title/Ending music.
Correct--in fact, I think I was the first to mention it. :chuckle:

It was a well-implemented fake, for sure, but a fake nonetheless.

And I wish that Nintendude were telling the truth. I'm sure it's all falsified, but it's a nice pipedream. Oh, Claus, someday you and I will make a great Smash team... :(

Even after Super Smash Bros. Brawl goes public, there’ll be a bunch of Assist Trophies that haven’t been introduced yet. - Sakurai

Today's Dojo update is a bit strangely worded. While it could just be implying it's not all on the dojo page, it really seems to be implying there are things in Brawl that literally aren't public yet.

Oh, over at the disk cracking thread, it seems they made it to the second layer now, but the guy who did it seems to have stuff to do first.

So, any word on what's on the 2nd layer yet? o.o
Unfortunately, there has been nothing yet. This content definitely all existed a few weeks ago, especially the Kingdom of Bern track. There is even a post in my ULTIMATE Analysis topic that mentioned the Japanese post that talked about it along with three other tracks that did appear in the final game.

I confess to being very curious about what's ON that second layer.. even if it turns out to be nothing at all. As near as I can tell, there WILL be the rest of the items though. As of now, the only items we can see are Aroaros, Fire, and Link's bombs.

I wonder, if these Pokemon, music tracks, and ATs were cut, then why is there no trace of their existence (aside from the music tracks which can be inferred by numbering). Why do the "cut" characters still have their files, yet the ATs and Pokemon from a near-final version have their's completely omitted?

Celebi23, it has been two days since you said you downloaded the dual-layer version of Brawl, yet you have not posted anything about it. Was it due to not finding all of the cut content? Don't be disappointed, this merely a result of Sakurai's stupidity for deciding to focus on music and cut-scenes instead of stuff gameplay related.... :ohwell:

I found this interesting:

This is a description of Sakurai's speech at the GDC:

Finally, we are very pleased to present the first postmortem of a major 2008 title, Development - Super Smash Bros. Brawl by Kirby and Smash Bros. veteran developer Masahiro Sakurai. With an eye to fine-tuned balancing, Sakurai shares what worked and didn't work integrating a variety of different characters as well as online play in adapting this modern classic to the Wii. Definiitely mark this featured talk on your schedule.

Maybe this speech will give us some insight as to what happened to the Forbidden 7.

Perhaps some this stuff might surface in the US or Euro release (they better do something productive with this delay lol) At least have some of the music in there somewhere.

*bump*

this thread iks too interesting to let die yet. I'm very intrigued in he possibilities of the second layer f the disc. While I'm not as optimistic to say there is some super secret DLC or conspiracy I feel the sense of mystery is good enough to at least grant chance. Because honestly unlockable ATs and and DLC characters aren't such a far off idea for the game that is supposed to last forever.

Rip it already to solve this mystery. Then wait for a working AR+Debug menu and we're set.

Any news on the second layer from Celebi123? I apologize if I got the name wrong. But I know we haven't seen all the files, because if nothing else, the items are missing!

WOAH! where did you get that info Chrono?!?!?
is there any way to download them?
oh, and about the mushroom forest song, there also a Mushroom Forest in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, so it could be from there too.

I don't think that's actually brawl music. Gametrailers' early videos of the SSE always have music playing over the gameplay. For example, if you look at the Pit SSE gameplay it has Pit's theme from the dojo, and the Mario vs Kirby fight took "Space Armada" from the dojo and just hit repeat.

I have yet to find the specific song used in the DK video anywhere else yet, but I'm pretty much convinced at this point that it's not Brawl music.

That's possible, but the songs respective names are "Beware of the Forest's Mushrooms" and "Toadworth's Forest". The song from M&L2 really has nothing to do with mushrooms.

Agreed. I want to know if those songs truly have been cut. What's the consensus from those who actually have the game and have been playing it a while?

I'm sure it's guaranteed that music is cut and not on the disk.

I mean, firstly, it fits right in to the actual list of music we have. For example, Sonic's music goes U1, U2, U3, U4, U6. Where's U5? Well, right up there, in that list. It doesn't make any sense that they'd put random tracks like that on one layer bu mot the other. Makes more sense that the song list was made, utilized, then later had to be cut, and to save time and money they didn't rename all the songs.

Also, we'd already have some definite proof from the Japanese folks, such as whether or not each character has their own victory theme, and as we've seen, they don't.

A ****, **** shame.

actually, in the game the concept of individual character victory music wasn't completely cut. Metaknight managed to get his own victory music. Unfortunately, he was the only one who got it:(

Wow, why did they cut all the unique victory theme's? Ah well, I guess Meta Knight alone is special..

All that cut music, especially Mushroom Forest (assuming) and the Eight Melodies theme, wounds my very soul. I hope there'll be a Brawl OST with all that music restored on it.

Not that we should be complaining too much, as we still have one of the largest conglomerations of VG music ever assembled as it is.

I think one of the reasons Meta Knight's was kept is because it was already mentioned on the site that he would have it. Therefore, he couldn't remove it.

well, atleast we can hope that brawl pulls-off a Tales of The Abyss.
For those who dont know, NA version of Tales of the Abyss had extra stuff that the Japanese version didnt have, like new Hi Ougis and some other stuff. I doubt it though, as the NA version of Tales of The Abyss came out like 9-10 months after the Japanese version, unlike Brawl, which is like only 2 months.

yeah, but we don't know how advanced was the development of that music, it could have been ready as far as we know, giving the possibility of it being put in the NA version.

All these lost tracks... how weird. Mushroom Forest... and Ballad of the Windfish!??! Awwww  I woulda loved that in Brawl.

I do think it's weird that the main MGS theme isn't actually in Brawl at all... it's just... weird.

What was Sakurai thinking by cutting out all of this music?
Just to clarify...this came from the Brawl disc (first or second layer, whatever), right? The soundtrack also had gaps in the music and I was kind of hoping that they had cut songs just for space reasons on the CD and left them in the game. This is really depressing...
Oh, and whoever posted about Mewtwo, I think it's obvious that Sakurai cut Mewtwo because he was too lazy to create a fifth rep for Mario and Zelda (among other things...).
Concerning MK: just more support for my Kirby conspiracy--I'll type up something official-looking soon if I have the time.

Ugh, I wish I could ask Sakurai about all this cut content at the GDC. But alas, I doubt any journalists know about it, thus it might just become another unsolved video game mystery.
