I can help find you guys try and find something in jersey? I'll do my best. I mean I do know a place in Jersey City but it's extremely small and I know the owner there...but I can try to find something else maybe? Idk. I can still look anyway. I know John and Jay0 have been looking for venue's in NYC for a while now so it's so hard to find something either way.

If not, do any of you guys just want to plan a big Melee-fest for now?

jesus lol i understand ya want melee in web2zone. on a saturday itz impossible. i tell u y. web2zone makes a g off of one birthday party in which they have 3 on saturday. lol melee takes longer and not only that, they will make like 100 dollars witin 7 hours lol. thatz not good business at all. 3g compare to 100, u do the math lmao. they would rather brawl cause it brings in more people whether the game is good or not. this is why i wanna do this.

ighttt new announcement as to wednesday and thursday. this is wat i'm goin for. instead of brawl being wendesday and thursday, i wanna cater to all. i want it to be afterschool/work special wit games as brawl, melee, street fighter 3rd strike, tekken 5 and ya get the picture.. thatz an example as to wat i wanna do. i wanna be able 2 attract all types of customers and show them the gaming community is big. the place is web2zone and i work from 6pm to 10pm, but i will go like at 3 cause i know people rather go earlier. if u need to know directions or train 2 get there, message me on aim which is oni163 or i can give u the number to the store.

trust me, they'll make a lot more than just $100.00.. people are soo melee deprived, i guarantee we'd have MD, VA, PA, NJ, Midwest, and New England support

Jfox - thats another problem. bum works at w2z now, if he convinces them to kill our ONE shot at a melee tournament, we're ****ed

strongside keeping it real

bum doesnt care...honestly...he likes both

look if you wanna know how much it truely is ( i worked there for a year ) here it is

to close off the upstairs area is about 1000-1200 for possible costs ...that means that they can make that money just by not moving a single thing and keeping everything as is.

Now if you take the tv's upstairs you also close the downstairs area bringing that cost up to about 1500-2000...now this may change due to the fact that w2z is indeed going out of biz and is closing soon so they may not care.

Point taken about the over 100 but lets look at this correctly

lets give a small but reliable number of 50 people for singles and 25 for teams...lets also say its 10 for each.

500 singles
500 doubles

40 % of that to the store is

200 singles
200 doubles

Total being = 400 to the store.

Remind yourself that w2z is not a ****ty little small gaming store it is a HUGE place in MANHATTAN...400 still is not so much.

Vanz I know you think you can get 100 people but even at Melee's high point it was a number that I barely got and your connections to certain people is not that amazing.

I am NOT saying it cannot happen but for safe reasons I feel a good start to having BOTH communities is to do it through the weeklies at first

Doubles brawl + Doubles Melee
Singles Brawl ( too many people for now so it has to be on its own )
Doubles brawl + singles Melee

That is the best Idea IMO for now until I speak with Plank and them myself about melee.

As for now I would not take your word for granted cause I have had people go there and talk to them and they would say "ya maybe" and things would not change and no offense to Vanz...I DOUBT They would start with you.

I, however, in talking with the manager Matt, have a steady relationship with him. But I will tell you right now that soon we will be charging for spectators again because it is not fair for ANYONE to go there for free and play.

Ya that means melee people who do not enter but also random kids who come and play brawl friendlies.

Solution? -- simple...what I stated above to keep everyone happy. That is the solution that will work best and that will come out better in the end.

Anyways I am off to work if people want text me 646 842 0950

I honestly don't feel that you could count on that many people being melee deprived that they would attend this. Travelling into the city is a lousy deal. Tolls and parking can cost u as much as the tournament.

More realistically though, wouldn't a smaller but more frequent tourney be to everyone's best interest? I mean if someone could get a venue or even a regular smashfest going in jersey city, wouldn't that be better for NYC smashers than one big event? You can't count on a big event consistently, which means that after the tourney, you would be back at square one. Wouldn't you just wanna have a place to play melee again frequently, rather than go for some one big time thing?

w2z isn't gonna be tricked and say "oh wow, nice job guys, you can have friday weeklies again cuz of that huge turnout" they will say "well that was good, but can you get that to happen on a weekly basis?" and the answer will inevitably be no.

I agree with smashfests. I've been saying that since the beginning. I know everyone love money and winning off of smash. But it's a tough situation, just work with it to the best everyone can. Also, I agree with Johnathan.

Smashfests sounds like a good idea to start off w/.

But from reading Alex's posts and such about the whole W2Z situation, it seems that acquiring a venue for melee would be pretty **** hard. And is it true that w2z is really going out of business? If so that'd suck cuz now two communities are out of place to even possibly play tournaments, and so then it reverts back to playin in someone's house/apartment/home (which isn't necessarily bad, but for a tournament it's not really ideal).

But back to what I first said, please hold smashfests people. (I really don't know if i'd be able to get to them, but just as long as people in general start hittin up melee again then things are aight)

thx everyone that came yesterday, it was real fun, melee was off the hook, vanz u seen the two on one's alwayz makes me stronger lol. brawl just got more techinal thx to nl. arcana hearts i love that game also n itz very deep.

it's every wednesday and thursday and it starts around 5, but be there earlier if u can. it's 7.50 for 4 hours which should be more than enough time to get ur practice in with other people. one thing i'm gonna lower it from 7.50 to 7 dollars and then make it that either an hour extra is a dollar or an extra hour is 2 dollars. the title is called training grounds and it's not just for brawl, but melee and any other competitive game such as halo, street fighter and whatever competitive game is there or ya bring. the more people come in, the better the scene and the options that will arise from this. i offically start working at 6pm to 10pm wednesday and thursday, but if u coming in earlier, inform me so i can come earlier with equipment. i can train with whoever comes also. i thank everyone who came yesterday n it was real fun.

location is 54 cooper square new york, new york 10003 usa. phone number is 1 212 614 7300.
web2zone is the store and when if u call ask for bum. friday's are brawl weeklys till further notice. 50 plus every friday for the brawl weekly.

kill everyone praising brawl and you've done everything you can lol

nah jk.

this is a dead effort. just wait for about a year when people get bored of campy slow paced brawl and then melee will make its comeback.
sadly its not going to happen just accept it ... people that were good at melee don't even consider themselves playing well whenever they pick up a controller to play some melee ... so if u beat someone that is good ... they will just simply tell u they weren't playing the game cuz of brawl ... brawl makes the $$ ... brawl wins the cake ... sadly this is how the world goes round ... $_$
