Haha, true.

Unfortunately, that's also why Arakune isn't as good anymore. When he needs to curse you twice to kill you, it makes the match a lot harder for him.

I forgot to mention, I think you should use your heat better as Valk. He builds up heat quickly iirc, so don't save it for RCing a blocked DD. I'd say abuse his j.C as an instant overhead and then RC that.
I'm actually still really uncomfortable playing as Valkenhayn. I really don't know what to do in a lot of situations and I'm really bad at using the wolf.

One thing I think I noticed though, at least in the latter matches against you and Crusayer, was that you always just let me go for the wolf mixup. Now that could have just been netplay, but you can mash me out of the wolf mixup, you would just sit there and block it almost all the time and never really gave me a reason not to go for it.

I don't really know what the best approach for it would be though, I could also just be remembering that wrong or again, netplay, but maybe you would want to look into that somewhat.

With all of that uncertainty up there, I think I might need to look into that more as well. :urg:

Man, there is no confidence in this post at all.

On the other hand his distortion is insta-curse. I've been snagged by that in the past to great dismay.

I play a little too respectful and don't mash out in blockstrings unless I know the frame data. It's mostly matchup inexperience for me. However, I do remember mashing out during the wolf mixups but I didn't remember to do it a lot.

I did go into training mode with Valk for like a few minutes just to understand him a bit better yesterday.
He seems like a fun character and I might try to put some time into learning him one day.

Cept you never really went for a fake overhead (can you even do that) with the wolf mixup. Any time you hit me with it, it was cuz netplay lag. You also seemed to think that you would always hit me with it so you'd fly up straight after the low. But I have no idea how the wolf works so maybe that's all you could do o_O?

The problem with wolf mixup is that it's practically invisible, and the hitboxes are bigger than they look. So, even if you jab, you can still get punched in the face with wolf moves. You have to jab really smart, but not wait too long either. :<

It's a bad match-up that I have to learn.

I could cancel with a 3D into an instant low or command grab, I only went for that a couple times in those matches sadly.

My Valk is still pretty bad honestly. I have so much fun playing him though, I just need to play more and get a better feel for what I can do.

Ah yeah okay. You never did that against me so I thought the overhead -> low was just another blockstring so I didn't think I would need to escape from it. That and you let me escape every time after it anyway haha.

Just finished playing s'more online. Managed to get past a Lambda's zoning with Ragna. online. feels good man.

[EDIT]

Every time I play this game a part of me wonders what would happen if I devoted myself to just this. Would I get to a similar level I'm at with my Sonic in Brawl? Would I be a high enough level player to compete with people from Japan or something? I wonder...

It'd be cool. But I can't give up Smash either.

A lambda.

Can you get past Kyle's lambda?!

Cuz I can't ;~;
I can, actually! ...once in a blue moon. And then he bursts and we're back to square one. x_x

Though in all seriousness, Kyle called it an "all or nothing" style when I was rushing him down with Ragna. It...somehow was working. lol Still lost, but it was doing SOMETHING.

I've never legitimately played him with Makoto (lol360controllerMakoto) so I have no idea how I fare against him.

Hopefully he'll come this friday.

You should fix your internet and play some BB with us sometime, Kuraudo. Put a static IP on your PS3 and port forward or something.
I'm hoping to do more PS3 online sessions so everyone can level up.

Hey, if my experience has taught me anything, it's that 360 controller Makoto players are godly. And SRK confuses them for girls. :bee:

That's not such a bad idea. Truth be told, the 360 connection is pretty decent. Either way, I'm gonna fix it and go from there. We'll definitely have to fight again. I've improved.

Not saying 360 controller is bad. I'm saying that since I play PS3 pad and don't have a 360, I doubt my execution will be anything near as good with a 360 controller (especially if it was my first time playing with that kind of controller in my life Lol).

The only suggestion I can say is uh....try using PS3 joystick to prepare since well...the actual 360 PAD itself is well...I don't even know what to call it.

Using the PS3 joystick is like using the touchpad on an iPhone for fighting games.

Why would you even suggest that?! I thought you used to play PS3 pad >:O

360 has the greatest joystick for fighting games on a pad ever. But PS3 has the best dpad. Just get that adjustable dpad 360 controller. Best of both worlds.

I can't imagine holding the 360 dpad for extended periods of time. That's like using the dpad on the GC controller.

Unless you claw I guess, but I've never seen anyone do that for a FGC other than smash.

I used to be a Pad Warrior for the longest time, yes. However, I was just trying to suggest something that would get you a similar experience to using a 360 controller. ;)

My PS3's connection used to be bad until I had set up the connection manually on my PS3.
It's not too hard either. All you need is your computer to check your router's IP and also DNS.
Then port forward or DMZ host it on your router.

And I feel like I'm enjoying BB much more now. Every time I play I feel like I'm getting better. I haven't hit that wall where I have a hard time improving yet. Of course by "every time I play" it's more like once a week due to school and work. :ohwell:

Less than 20 more days until BB Revolution. I don't know who to really use yet. lol

I get really annoyed at myself when it comes to fighting games because I see what I do wrong and I usually know what I need to improve on but even then it takes me forever to actually incorporate those thoughts into my gameplay.

It also takes me forever to adjust to people's play styles for the same reason. I tell myself I need to start doing something then I neeeeeeeveeeer do.

I finally remembered about using wind to make her back dash so good.
Wind + backdash after getting gadget fingered is the best thing ever. :3

Livewire, get a Dustloop avatar. Reading people's names is extra work. :I

It doesn't actually feel that different though. I've tried it.

I know that feel. I find it helps to just focus on one particular thing at a time, until you get it and are comfortable with it. Then move onto improving something else.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean, Spelt. And even when I'm playing a match after watching how somebody else plays, I'll literally be like telling myself things they do until the match starts and wind up throwing half of that out the window.

And fine, Lythi, I uploaded a stand-in one for now until I find something better, lol.

It really is. I pretty much do that whenever I can unless they have Spark Bolt ready.

As for picking up habits, I'm pretty good on seeing what my bad habits are. I don't get frustrated easily so I'm able to tell what I'm doing wrong mid-match. I can pick up on an opponent's habits pretty well too, problem is is that it takes a little awhile for me to adjust and counter whatever they're doing. However, if I'm able to get in a long set with them, they're done. Haha.

Well aren't you little miss smarty pants today? :bee:

Well, isn't Arakune pretty much just a bee covered paper bag with a mask anyway?
No no no... he's a colony of bacteria that really wanted to join the fighting tournament and so put on a mask, remember?

Gamespot told me so

And THIS:

Using the PS3 joystick is like using the touchpad on an iPhone for fighting games
That's so good to hear from someone who actually normally plays on PS3 lol... I remember trying it and feeling lost until I got a 3rd party solution.
