Evo has already updated their site on the registration page that it'll be BBCS2.
So unless something goes terribly wrong, we won't have to deal with regular CS at Evo.
I don't think there's been an official announcement that it is CS2. It does say CS2 on the main page but if you click on the link it gives a description of CS1. Also if you register for Evo it just says CS.

I pretty confident that they'll have CS2 if it's released before AE comes out, and it's nice to see more evidence of it being CS2. But I don't think it's official yet.

Maybe they just haven't gotten to updating the non-main pages yet.

Actually the real question is why you don't like the 360?
I guess you can say I'm just a dogged fanboy of Sony. The 360 is a great console. I'm not gonna sit here and tell anybody otherwise. Great online service (even if it does come with a price tag, it's worth it), great selection of games, great price...the list could go on.

The only things that the 360 doesn't have are the Sony exclusives. Laugh at me all you want, but I really do enjoy some of the old PS1 games that you can download from the PSN. Same with the PS3 exclusives like Uncharted and God of War 3. You can't get classics like Final Fantasy Tactics, Brave Fencer Musashi or Jumping Flash 2 (don't hate) from Live, for instance. Beyond that, there's multi-platforming for certain game franchises that I like (Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, etc) so it makes having two systems near pointless (unless, of course, you really enjoyed the Microsoft exclusives as much as the Sony ones. Which I didn't). The new Steam functionality is kind of neat, too. There are also very few exclusive indie games; iirc, Live and PSN have near-identical libraries when it comes to those, and I really enjoy the indie games.

Not paying for online is at once a boon and a bane. It's a boon because, well, you're not obligated to pay a damn thing. You can play with your friends or whomever freely without having to spend any cash (even if it is pretty inexpensive in the bigger picture, in the case of Live's expenses). It kinda sucks, however, 'cause the money that could have been collected from a fee of some kind could serve to make the PSN's framework and functionality a helluva lot better. But, then again, I'm not too terribly particular about bells and whistles with my online service; I just want to be able to play the games I wanna play online when I can.

The 360 controller is a very small gripe I have. It's not really a dealbreaker or anything; there are plenty of third party controllers out there that can be purchased and used in the 360 controller's stead. However, I actually like the base PS3 controller's design. For me (and I'm not claiming this to be the absolute truth for everyone) it's more ergonomic. I can do things on it very easily.

Blu-ray is kind of neat and (in some cases) makes for gorgeous movies in HD.

Like I said, I still honestly think the 360 is a better deal and is a very good system. I owned one for a long time so I can attest to that. I guess you can say I just like Sony games a bit more, just enough to edge out all of the little justified nuances for purchasing a 360.

So it's not that you don't like the 360 (or the Wii, probably) you just like the PS3 more.

That's certainly reasonable.

I probably should have said something to the effect of "I don't like the 360 or the Wii as much as the PS3." Lol.

So, yeah. That's more or less the case, Scamp. Although I will say that the Wii has more cons than pros (to me, anyway) and that I would probably never pick up another one---at least, not until the next gen Wii comes out.

That's pretty much how I feel.

I'm also kind of afraid to turn my 360 on. With the amount of dust it's collected, it might explode.

lol, I remember way back then when there were cases of the original Xbox bursting into flames when running Halo. I don't know if Halo was what caused it, but I can tell you one thing: Halo was the only game you'd ever play on the original Xbox.

...Mass Effect 1, Jade Empire, KotR, Halo 2 and Guilty Gear XX: Reload would like to have a word with you, Zero.

:p

Those are the only few I could think of off the top of my head. I know there were at least a few more AAA titles exclusively on the original Xbox but that's all I can think of atm.

Big ol' freaking brick. XD

Mass Effect was on the Xbox?
And Halo 2 is Halo you nitpicker!
And Accent Core was on PS2, why play Reload (other than availability)?

But, yeah, I forgot Jade Empire and KotR. Still, I think Halo single-handedly made Xbox a competitor in the console wars.

Meh, maybe, but it's actually an overrated game. Like, the Halo series is alright, but I've played plenty of FPS's before and since it, that just feel better. That, and very little on the Xbox (and only some on 360, though what did except for ME1 is becoming multi-platform to PS3) appealed to me.

I have both.

I rarely use my 360 though. The last game I bought for it was Bayonetta. And before that, I can't even remember. A used copy of Wartech, I think. :3c

Both consoles are fine imo, but there are more games that I want to play on PS3, so that's my go-to. Plus, all my arcade sticks and stuff are for PS3. I'm not even sure if my 360 is plugged in, to be honest.

All I've seen was him say there will be a new one, but okay.

I can't wait for it though, I wan't to finally be able to play GG properly.
But we probably have another BB or two before that happens. :/

I'm up for there being another Blazblue before another Guilty Gear. Absolutely nothing against Guilty Gear (hell, I play GGX2 myself), but I got into Blazblue first, so I gotta give the nod to that.

lol, Ishiwatari called Bridget a she (must've been a translation error) and completely sidestepped his design origins.

And I'd like to see BlazBlue and Guilty Gear exist side by side.

How would such a thing work? Unless the GG community is fine with 3D models instead of sprites, I see it kind of difficult to visualize such a thing happening in terms of gameplay.

Gameplay would be a bigger issue than 2D or 3D.

But my complete lack of interest in SF makes me not like that idea.

Yeah, Street Fighter's always been something that's fun to play with random other people that don't know what they're doing too, but something I for some reason could never get all serious about. It's the same with the MvC games. Like, it's way too chaotic crap and all that. And besides, when you lose...you lose 3 times, lol.

Just a random side thing before I head out to the tourney tomorrow but...any Noel/Jin players got any good Vs Rachel, Makoto, Jin, or Ragna advice?

I don't know Noel well enough to know how to properly play all of her matchups, but I can help you on the Rachel matchup since I use her.
Haida Loop is your best way of dealing damage on Rachel. She's easy to do the loop on and she'll usually end up in the corner afterwards.
I've lost nearly half of my health from one combo against a friend's Noel because of that.

Learn your blockstrings. Don't do random Drives that don't keep them in block stun since she can mash Cat Chair if she doesn't respect you.

IMO, the matchup favors Noel but it might be hard to get in at times. Using 5D's invincibility sometimes help, but most of the time you'll have to play patiently when you're trying to get in. Rush her when she has no win. She doesn't have a lot of options if you're close to her during then.

Block a lot vs Makoto and have good reaction time to tech throws and don't try to random jab her, her random jab is way better than yours. Only Makoto's drives knock off primers and she won't be doing that unless she has meter, in which case she'll totally Jessica Ushiromiya through your Gapp. Of course, she can also 236A~D for a whopping 2 primers for free on Noel if you weren't mashing D.
I'm not sure what you can do to punish/dodge j.2C since I don't fight many Noels.

Don't try to make her play your game (whatever that is) because you're bad and she isn't. Play it her way before the initiation phase (fly around everywhere like a fairy).

I'm really not sure what concrete thing Noel can do though since she's a soft moe-blob of randomness and Makoto is a smart, sexy squirrel-girl of awesome.

Lythium, I know you play Mu. What do you think of her overall?
Hmm, I may start to ramble here, and have a tl;dr moment, but here goes.

I think she's a good, versatile character. She can easily zone, rushdown, play midrange, or transition between all of those, and her oki is fantastic. She's also very good at breaking primers (214D, 63214C). However, there are a lot of characters that can do one (or more) of those things better than her, so playing her specific ways relies on matchups, moreso than most, I guess. I would also say that she relies heavily on momentum. If she has it, she can pretty much do whatever she wants. If she doesn't, she has ways of stealing it. Her DP is very good for this.

She can be difficult, but it's not so much execution-wise. Her BnBs aren't hard, but using her well is difficult. You can't "spam" her moves as easily as you can with other characters in hopes of getting anywhere. She requires a lot of thinking and planning with her setups. That being said, the combos that give Mu the most damage are generally quite difficult (for example: XX > 6A > 6B > 6A > 6C > 214D(whiff) > dash > 6A > 6B > XX or even her 6C FC combo). She has some very tight links (XX > j.2C > land > dash > 2B > XX), though it's got a bit more lenient in CS2. Often her combos have to be adjusted for various character hitboxes or for near the corner. If you've played other fighting games, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with execution, though to be fair, Mu's can be a little janky at times.

I think she could easily be high tier, but she suffers from a lot of lopsided matchups. She absolutely wrecks Carl and Tager. Bang and Litchi are some of her worst, but they are for everyone. However, she gets ruined by Hazama and Hakumen. Hazama can just run away the entire match, but chains don't let her set up steins. His close range normals are way faster/better. Mu's midrange game is better, but that's like asking Hazama to just stand there and take it. Hakumen can cut Mu's lasers, so you either have to place them very carefully or not use them at all, which completely nulls her neutral game. He also outranges you in every way possible, air and ground. Tao can also be pretty hard because she just runs in circles around your zoning.

Overall, I would say that she has a lot of functions, like A LOT of functions. Probably the biggest toolbox in the game imo. It isn't hard to learn the tools, but implementing them at the correct times.

edit: Also, because she is so versatile, if you watch vids, you will see a lot of different Mu styles, not just matchup-dependent ones. Rushdown, trap, zoning, midrange, etc.

Just a random side thing before I head out to the tourney tomorrow but...any Noel/Jin players got any good Vs Rachel, Makoto, Jin, or Ragna advice?
I guess I'll add my two cents to Ragna. Watch out for him. His damage and meter gain is way better than yours. Don't do anything super unsafe (raw 3C), because everything he has will wreck your ****. Play it safe, but don't be afraid to throw out 5D/2D if he's just blindly running up to you.

Ragna has plenty of ways to keep Noel honest in her rushdown with his DP and superior range. So much so that you really can't rush him down as well as he can rush you down, imo. I find this match up just deals a lot with just baiting moves out from Ragna for him to **** up so you can start your offense and/or do some damage.

New interview from Daisuke about Guilty Gear. I liked this part of the interview:
While the graphic style and basic combo system draw players into Guilty Gear, the game is quite deep. How do you balance between having a rich fighting system and making a game accessible?

Guilty Gear is a difficult game to play, with many systems to master. When we balanced the game and made revisions, we listened to our fanbase and made changes we wanted to make – which was to make a very technical, hardcore fighter. This was our intention. I don’t think you can have it both ways. BlazBlue has a good balance I think of being easy to pick up, but still having a depth for more dedicated players to explore. Will the next Guilty Gear be easier? No, I don’t think so – it will be a difficult game. But, I would like to implement systems like a beginner mode to help new players get started.
Here's the link to the full interview. http://www.siliconera.com/2011/05/06/all-about-guilty-gear-with-creator-daisuke-ishiwatari/

I still wonder if a 5 frame buffer like BlazBlue would be a bad thing for Guilty Gear. I don't know if Guilty Gear has one of those or not already though.
