Well, I think you can still rent a spare key for a far less cost for 24 hours (or was it 72 hours)? You can only do that a limited number of times, though. One time, I accidentally left my keys in my room once and the door was locked when I got back, so I had to rent a key for like 10 minutes, but it still counted against the number of times I could have rented one. =|

Thankfully, I haven't lost my key anywhere since, so I think I'm good for the rest of the semester. =P

Nick, Brees Hardware on 29th and Guad does key copies. It may be "illegal" but I don't think they give a damn, cause I've gotten two copies for my apartment key.

Also it's a dollar per copy. Super cheap.

I don't think it's illegal to do either of them.
If it is banned in the lease and the landlord finds out that you've done it, you'll probably get evicted, though.
