Hi everyone, I'm sure most of you know who I am, but I come to you here as the Manager for the Brawl Division with vVv Gaming. I have this thread here for everyone to familiarize themselves with vVv, learn about what we do, get to know our members, and serve as an info-hub in-case you are interested in applying! Think of it as a crew thread of sorts, as when it comes down to it - that's what we are. Just with some awesome perks!

The Five Pillars of Our Community
[collapse=Click Here!]
  1. Excellence: This is really what vVv Gaming is all about. There are two ways to demonstrate excellence in vVv Gaming. The first way is by winning prizes at tournaments. The second way is by being a good community member that adds value to vVv Gaming.

[*]Value: Having members that are all adding value is a critical part of having a rich and vibrant community. There are many ways to add value: creating vVv GFX, videos, helping people in the forums, posting on our YouTube, MySpace and Twitter, as well as donating, just to name a few. Always ask, if you are not sure how to add value.

[*]Chain of Command: If you have a problem with someone, please talk to them directly and IN PRIVATE. Always start with the person that you are having the problem with. DO NOT bring it to the Shoutbox or post about your problem. If you can't resolve it, then bring it to staff.

[*]Diversity: vVv Gaming is a diverse community. This is our strength! vVv Gaming has people that come from various backgrounds and we openly embrace differences in race, national origin, ages, disability, marital status, familial status, parental status, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, political beliefs and gender. In order to get the best people, we want all people to feel welcome and open.

[*]Sponsors: Just as you have to add value to vVv, so does vVv Gaming have to add value to its sponsors. In order for vVv Gaming to support the best gamers, you need to show sponsors that you care. Represent their products, promote them and help spread the word by adding their banner ads in your signatures and include their logos in your graphics and videos.
[/collapse]

We are a community of gamers with a passion in what we do. We come together for the better of not just our respective communities, but for all communities in general. We aren't just a bunch of hermits here for money, we help each other out, practice together, grow together, and learn together. Have fun meeting some of the coolest people you'll get to know in the gaming community, try out some new games, make new friends, and bring your own unique style to us.

Benefits of Being With vVv

[collapse=Here is what members will receive based on their membership level]
Community and Competitive Members

-Basic vVv T-Shirt
-Access to vVv hotel rooms at large events
-Being a part of the community and access to vVv specific events

Sponsored Members

-Basic vVv T-Shirt
-vVv Pullover Hoodie
-Access to vVv hotel rooms at large events
-Being a part of the community and access to vVv specific events
-Mentioned as an official part of the vVv Brawl Division
-vVv marketing and promotional mentoring
-Access to Monetary Stipends

Note for T-Shirts and Hoodies: If you are interested in printing your name on the back of the shirt, you are by all means welcome to! Shirts are ordered in bulk by vVv and custom ordering them can be tough so it is encouraged to have name printing done on your own after you receive your shirt/hoodie. Name printing can come extremely cheap, and is by far the best option. So your shirt comes out the best way possible be sure to use the "Garamond" font, and print your name in all capital letters (no lowercase), with characters that would be upper cased just be done in a slightly larger font.
Example: VVV CHIBOSEMPAI

I'm sure the last part there for sponsored members has everyone interested, and it's a new benefit of the division that I'm glad to announce!

There are three types of monetary stipends that players can receive - Community Kickers, Event Kickers, and Local Stipends. Community and Event Kickers deal with National and Major events and Local Stipends deal with all other events. It is important that we include local stipends in our plan seeing how much the Brawl community is based around them.

Community Kicker:

If a player is fully active in the community and intends on attending a major event, they will receive $50 before the event. In order to be fully active in the community, said member must be active on the vVv forums 3+ days a week, retweet tweets posted by vVv on Twitter, update their Facebook status, post on the vVv Facebook page, and generally be a part of the community.

Competitive Kicker:

We love to see our players strive to be the best and be at the top of the competition. If a player places top 4 at a major tournament and represents vVv gaming well by wearing our shirt, taking pictures, and providing a write-up about the event, they will earn additional money.
4th Place - $50
3rd Place - $75
2nd Place - $100
1st Place - $125

Local Stipend:

The smash community relies on it's local tournament scene, and we want our members to attend as many of them as possible. When a Sponsored vVv member plans to attend a local tournament, vVv will provide the player their entrance fees before the tournament takes place. Local tournaments must be hosted in a public venue (so no tiny apartment/house gatherings). Players are expected to still wear their vVv apparel and do things such as taking pictures, make a write up about the event, etc.

Sometimes it sounds like a lot with taking pictures, making write ups, and wearing apparel - but it's worth it! For those of you out there that attend tourneys nearly every weekend you could be earning over $100 per month from just local stipends alone!

I will decide which tournaments are valid for the Community and Competitive Kickers and let everyone know here in the Brawl section on vVv via a stickied thread I will make in the future. To apply for a local stipend, players will have to PM me here on vVv Forums with basic information about the tournament and a link to either a tournament thread on Smashboards or an event page on AllisBrawl. More details on local stipends will be posted soon.

Players are required to have a Paypal account to receive monetary stipends.

How to Join

vVv is a real company providing real players with real money. Unfortunately because of this we can't just accept any Brawler that wants in. However, we are always looking for great players to bring aboard that are interested! Becoming a part of vVv is certainly a process. Also consider which division you want to apply for - Community, Competitive, or Sponsored. Obviously getting into the competitive division is easier than sponsored, and is a great place for players to start. Unless you already know many of us with a lot to show, being a part of the competitive division is a great place to get accustomed with vVv, and eventually work towards being promoted to sponsored status and earn the perks with that level.

Recommended action for joining vVv:
  1. Join the forums at vvv-gaming.com and get used to the community. Meet some new people, check out our podcasts (The Loser's Bracket and Directional Influence), check out some articles, etc. Make sure to completely fill out your profile as much as you can with things like a picture, filling out the About Me section, etc.
  2. Keep active in the Smash community and on sites like Smashboards, AllisBrawl, and vVv Gaming. Continue to attend tournaments, give it your all, and make a name for yourself.
  3. Make it an effort to get to know me if you haven't. Getting brownie points with the Brawl Manager can't hurt right? I attend tons of local Atlantic North events and a lot of major/national events so it's not hard to meet me. Convince me that you should be a part of vVv.
  4. When you're ready apply for the division of your choice on the vVv Gaming Forums. Some members jump in and apply as soon as they join the site which has worked for some, but I would suggest following the other steps and getting to know some people prior.
  5. If your application looks good and you have some support you will land an interview. Go through that fine and you will be accepted!

Maybe M2K will rejoin, and try to get ADHD too, and then you'll have people that actually do well in MLG.

I'm not sure about this but I'm thinking about it.

Haven't really been to a national since mlg orlando and I would like to go to another one but it just costs too much in the long run and plans usually don't go according to plan(carpool drops out, etc.)

I have 2 questions about this though

Judging by other applicants, do you have to be PR'd to be considered for the most part? It's pretty **** hard getting PR'd in such a big state like FL not to mention its arguably the best state in smash. I mean hell, i can place 17th at mlg orlando and I'm not even powerranked. Playing redhal/hrnut for the past 3 tournies first round is never fun :(

Also, assuming I did all things to become in the brawl sponsored division, how long on average would that take to be a part of it?

Jason if you have any problems like this it would be best to bring them up via pm with me or with Jerry. If you would like I can relay a message to Jerry from you and act as a contact. However this message here isn't exactly appropriate for plenty of reasons.

LOL, I'm not implying you aren't skilled. If I recall, you defeated Malcolm who is a skilled player ranked in my region. However, MLG Orlando was possibly the worst tournament of all tournaments to cite because of it's utter lack of seeding and chaotic randomness in the placings.

To give an example to show I'm not biased, my own crew mate BSC who also plays DDD placed 25th at that tournament. He also defeated Shaky, a skilled player who is ranked from your region. However, he's also not power ranked in my region.

Both of you outplaced me (49th) who lost to FLs Rank 1 and Rank 2 players (while in Florida), and I took out other power ranked players on the way there. I'm not saying any player is better or worse than any other player mentioned here, but my point is that MLG Orlando is possibly the worst national in history to use as evidence as a skilled player, unless you placed top 8, or maybe top 16.

To now get to your question, I would expect that vVv would expect you to be power ranked in your state if you want to receive the benefits of being in their sponsored division. However, being in their competitive division is not quite as prestigious, and if you like the direction of vVv, then I would not hesitate to join their community decision.

Obviously, I do not speak on behalf of vVv.

Brawl General?

User Blogs?

AiB?
hmm a topic looking for players to sponsor for tournaments.. ya deff not tournament disscussion >.>
User Blogs is down. Brawl General deals with a lot of things like single player play, stadium modes, not just competitive play. Sponsoring players goes hand and hand with tournaments so while it might not fit here exactly, it's the closest thing imo.

My advice to any players wanting to join vVv:

Take as much as you can while doing as little as possible. Do your best to make it seem like you're doing a lot and being active with the community but just mooch and mooch and mooch until you've had enough.

;)

It's having a sense of humor, people need to learn to laugh things off. I've been the center of a countless number of jokes and insults, and you know what? Life is a lot better when you learn to laugh and find the comedy in things.

I did not mean anything bad by my post. It was a joke, I did it for comic relief, that's it. I'm sorry for those of you (especially M2K) that saw it otherwise. I meant no harm by it.

Eh, no Coney, maybe in a few months, it would've been funny, but Jason's still sensitive to the issue. Even I'm a little sensitive to the issue. Like, the tourney hasn't even passed yet.

Yeah, he only got screwed out of a likely 12.5k, had one of his biggest goals taken away, and you post that in a blog where he's having fun despite everything.

I hardly called being screwed out of it appropriate considering it was his actions initially that got him banned in the first place.

People have to realize that splitting of any kind like this is bad. It's bad for the community, it's bad for tournaments, it's bad for spectators. Smash is never going to reach the top competitive level players want it to be especially when MLG is the main stage when any kind of splitting like this is frowned so terribly upon.

weren't you the same ****** whining about being left out of a split that you weren't in on at MGC? lol why not just say forget the split and try to win? then it wouldn't matter! ohh, because it's only wrong when it doesn't involve you or help you out...

We tried to change the payout structure and compete for money. We would have been fine with any payout structure, top 2, top 4, all 7, etc. What we were against and "whining" about were specific players splitting instead of changing the payout giving everyone and equal chance at earning the money they deserve.

Chibo, i don't mean to bring this drama back into this thread, but you really need to stop lying. YOU INITIALLY ASKED FOR A SPLIT. After we said no you said wanted to change the payout as an alternate way to get a split without actually splitting.

but i guess you gotta cover your trails.

I might apply. Would a tournament video youtuber be needed at all? I can get A LOT of videos up on youtube at tournaments I go to.

One of my latest tournament recordings. 51 one videos, I think 34 of which were recorded and uploaded by me.

Do/would you guys pay for yotubute ads?
Putting ads on my videos for money doesn't break any copyright laws, right? (I need to do some research about this. I'm not going to put my channel at risk).

LOL ARE YOU SERIOUS

I believe YOU were the one (alongside cheese) BEGGING me/ally/lee/mike to split with you guys

don't even START with that **** chibo

my reasons was because i was depressed that day and didn't feel like playing at all and knew i couldnt win like that esp. not w/ that controller.

You are a hypocrite

u know u couldnt win because you're bad so you begged for a split

btw you also were entered in the tournament twice, so getting 600 each means you get 1200 total, which is also bull****.

mikehaze ***** you in the set, you only won because he had an ENTIRE full stock lead then he accidentally paused it BEFORE HE EVEN RESPAWNED and had to lose a stock for NO REASON because of ****ty rules. Then you win a time out by like under 10 damage, it was stupid

then you have the nerve to say why did you split with mike and not me when you do **** like that. You're no better than cheese and I'm glad I'm not associated with that organization of dirtiness anymore.

you also lied about saying I agreed to a split, you lied right to Ally's face. I directly told you NO at MLG DC yet you LIED ABOUT IT ANYWAY

you lied to me about why you wanted to be in the BBR 2 years ago, you said you would help the MK debate then WITHIN A WEEK you PERMANENTLY changed your mind and tried to get him banned more than almost anyone else back there.

you're a horrible person and a ****ing liar, and you are also sadistic and think crushing peoples dreams is funny

i hope your kids have cancer and you can slowly watch them die you terrible excuse for a person

I knew chibo was a bad egg.

Dear Jason,

If I were relevant to the brawl community, and participating in Brawl MLG I would boycott for you. Alas, I don't play brawl and have no weight in the community, but I do hope everything works out for you.
