I hardly called being screwed out of it appropriate considering it was his actions initially that got him banned in the first place.

People have to realize that splitting of any kind like this is bad. It's bad for the community, it's bad for tournaments, it's bad for spectators. Smash is never going to reach the top competitive level players want it to be especially when MLG is the main stage when any kind of splitting like this is frowned so terribly upon.
WOW. You're not even trying to cover your own ass anymore.

1. Mew2King didn't split @ MLG DC, and no bracket manipulation occurred. He just got *****, got 3rd, and what the players do with their money is their business.

2. Splitting is debatable at best. Usually splitting occurs on the behalf of the players with the players to benefit the players in a community based on the players. Smashboards is a grassroots community. When you pay for the tournament, you pay for your shot to win that prize money. That's all you get. I can go into a deep argument as to why splitting is extremely beneficial to the community and always has been but that's not for this topic.

3. Going back to the previous tournament, what would possess anyone in that bracket to split the bracket evenly with you when

A: they've already clearly and cleanly stated that they're not afraid of you in the bracket in any way.
B: multiple people flat out refused your attempts at a split.
C: it's an even split and you're in the bracket twice.
D: You got your own crew member disqualified.

4. You petition that bracket manipulation is bad in the quoted post after pulling by far the biggest bracket manipulation yourself that I've ever seen playing this game for 8 years. You entered a tournament twice and screwed Mike over hardcore, but you're okay that M2K and ADHD got banned.

5. I don't even want to address how fucked up that blog post is after this mess.

Do yourself a favor at this point and stop posting for like a week. At least until MLG Dallas is over.

I could never really put my finger on it, but I've always thought that splitting or the idea of potentially splitting actually helps tournaments (at least locals) in the sense that it encourages more "good" players to continue going to tournaments. Honestly, good sets can still be played without money on the line, and this way, the set isn't as harsh / unforgiving. Maybe both players can try something a little more experimental / develop themselves differently from a "must win" approach. Just look at Japanese Brawl. No money = still ***** = still just as competitive LOL.

(not that this necessarily applies to the m2k / chibo / etc situation, just something I've thought about)

I haven't said much on this issue on the forums.

Analyzing chibo's discussion on the vVv Podcasts:

According to Chibo, they were trying to "change" the payout structure. I totally agree that $5000/$1000 is stupid. So we're ok for now.

Then, Chibo proposed the following payout:

1. $2500
2. $1000
3. $500
4. $500
5. $500
5. $500
7. $500
7. ???

Let's look at the problems with this. Not only is this not a restructured payout, but it's abusing the fact that you have two entries! That split (You said this yourself, on the podcast) only covers 7 people's worth before it gets to the 6000 prize pot. Do the math, 2500 + 1000 = 3500. Meaning if you pay 500 to each spot, you can pay 5 more positions. 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, and 7th.

You knew that you had to be either 5th or 7th, and would essentially locked in the prize. You also proposed the worst payout breakdown in a tournament, ever. What you proposed would "never happen in a regular tournament either", like you said on the podcast.

Now since I'm amazing at this, I'm going to use the "modified AZ" payout structure to apply the payouts.

1st- $3000
2nd- $1500
3rd- $720
4th- $360
5th- $210
5th- $210
7th- 0
7th- 0

If you really wanted a payout structure, you would've made it something like this.

Stop making this look like you weren't being selfish and everyone else was. That's just not true, at all. You just like everyone else saw money and wanted a shot at it.

Then you go and make this blog about how bad splitting is. It's like when someone who, when trying to learn how to ride a bike, falls, scrapes their knees, and then says bike riding is stupid.

Yes I will agree that splitting not as fun. It makes finals boring. And I wouldn't want to win on a split unless it was a good friend of mine. I hate people throwing matches. Mang0 threw matches in doubles last year that pinned smash g0d and llod out of the melee doubles bracket. I'm super upset about that. But I can't prove they did that logistically. Mew2king split with friends. I agree planning before you have money is dirty, but if they win, it's their money! You have no right to be upset if you lose to them.

At the end of the day, I think everyone got what they deserved in vegas. Everyone made mistakes, and once everyone reconciles I think this will go away, quickly.

To be perfectly clear: If I ever get to grand finals against ee or junebug or waffle or coney or someone i'm cool with, I'd propose the split. But against Chu or Candy or pretty much anyone else, I'd want to beat them. Splitting isn't so bad! They are good friends. They deserve it if they made it that far.

You said it yourself Tant, after 2500 and 1000 there is enough for 5 500s. I wouldn't take two money placements of 500, hence making a 7 person payout and not 8 person. Everyone was allowed up to 3 qualifying spots, and there were other people like cheese and either lee or m2k (one of them entered twice, but i forget which). not my fault i won more qualifiers, lol @ ppl thinking its ridiculous i was in it twice (not just being said here, but elsewhere). i was actually in the final 32 bracket 3 times, but one of my chibos was up against fatals only spot so i forfeited to him.

Chibo...I'm ashamed that you're apart of my region. You tarnish EC, just like cheese does.

Wow gotta post in this legendary thread.

Seriously though, with all this flaming/trolling/being mad salty all round, I think this thread now belongs in General Brawl Discussion.

'Sides I don't see how Chibo's alleged personality flaws have anything to do with vVv so I'm amazed this mofo has stayed open so long.

Off topic is always good stuff when it involves callouts and public humiliation obv.

Those vVv tshirts, they're actually PB&J's, u gettin scammed son.

And I'mma keep fillin out this post

fpr no reason

because I can

Sounds like some good money comes from being in vVv.

From a community perspective though, it seems quite lacking; i still don't get why good players are getting dropped, while i understand their skill isn't exactly what's important, having a good player who supports your faction is always a plus :/

Chibo i'm curious about the other games vVv sponsors, how popular are they in other games?

One of the first games they supported was Gears and they were at the forefront of it but it's not too big now because Gears is no longer in MLG and it's harder now to support Gears in person with how the game is updated, though things might change with Gears 3. vVv has a great rhythm games division, complete with Rock Band, DJ Hero, and Guitar Hero. In terms of Guitar Hero like the best 2 or 3 players in the world are all in vVv (and are all really awesome and cool to hang out with). I wish I knew more about our Halo teams, but I don't know too much. I know a vVv member just took first for the Reach FFA @ MLG Dallas, though I don't know about the normal 4v4 Halo teams. There are also some Starcraft 2 players as well but I don't know too much about them since they are relatively new.

Here's a list of various achievements from vVv gamers in all games: http://www.vvv-gaming.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=37301

Yeah they're loaded with wins in Gears lol.

And wtf, in 2 and a 1/2 years? You guys are pretty stacked. Who is the person who won for VF5? It would be nice if you guys showed who won those awards that's sponsored from you.

I did notice that you guys say a lot about how a lot of organizations haven't done as much as you, Have you guys forgot about EG and EMP? And heck, BLG too :s

I honestly don't know who won the VF5, I just looked everywhere searching online and I can't find results from that event.
While I would like to shed some light on vVv as a whole and with other organizations, I just don't know enough to answer your question completely. Anything Brawl related though with vVv and I can certainly help lol

Chibo, How much money is each sponsored players "monetary stipend" and how often will a sponsored player get one?

also, you mention sponsored players receiving "access to hotels at large events."

What constitutes for a large event? I know vVv Gaming didn't give a hotel to players for Apex, which i'm pretty sure everyone would consider a large event.

I know that hotel housing from vVv is generally given to players for MLG events, yet I'm also aware that vVv Gaming did not give ANY players for ANY game any housing for MLG Finals in Dallas. Why is this?
