Well, on a personal level, I'd love to actually be recognized for playing Brawl.
Since I live in FL, and I have to beat a PR person to even have a chance of being put on the PR of Florida, who all live in SFL like 500 miles away, I'd have to make a Huntsville-esque journey just to be able to try.

If you guys don't want to count me, since I really don't live in Alabama, that's fine. But you guys are cool. So eh.

Meh tbh I don't really care about the whole state limiting being placed on PC players. They're basically Mobile to us.

not to sound liek a downer but it is the AL PR
if we are including ppl we should include kismet and big lou too since they basically win vs AL and come to more than half our tournies.

I don't have a problem with it. Kismet and Big Lou are recognized by their state. If Saint has an easier time making it to our tournaments than South FLA tournaments, then i understand where he's coming from. It's not like he doesnt want to play with FLA ppl, it's just easier for him to go to our tournaments, when he has ppl like Ryker & Rag to help him travel (or atleast i think this is the situation)

I'm not trying to start anything. -.-

That's basically it. And the fact that in FL, I'd have to travel the same distance I traveled to huntsville for EVERY TOURNAMENT. Huntsville is 350 miles. Orlando/Tampa are 450 miles, and let's not forget Miami is that 10 hour drive of 670 miles.

I like saint, but i have to agree with shaslam on this one. He is close to our area, but he's not in our area.

I don't mind letting Saint merge with us, since he doesn't get to go to any other state's tournaments, anyway.

Also, with people jumping ship on the GA side, I am more receptive to having them join our PR, as well.

...I mean.
Billy lives in Milton Georgia.

Edit: Or thus it says on his Smashboards account.
I won't pretend to know Billy's life. x)
He goes to school in Auburn, which is more than half of the year.

Not that I think it makes it particularly valid, but, eh.

We've lost (or are in the process of losing) 3 of our PR members. I honestly would not mind having a merge at this point, personally. (I mean, not necessarily a merge merge, but I think you get what I'm saying.)

other than FL, the south east should just all merge.

LA, AL, GA, TN, MS?

and saint i guess lol but im just saying no other player gets that award like ever.... liek when winnar use to come to all our tourneys, he still only got a special spot on the PR for OoS. and his excuse was that there arent tournaments in MS. and he was at like every one of our tourneis for like 2 years.

like i dont have a problem with saint on there itd be aigt with me, im just telling you guys that no one ever does that... like ever.

We can only safely say Winnar/AL/GA. We rarely see LA and TN, and most of TN are pro Melee anyway.

We haven't been as set on going to Georgia tournaments like we were last year, but they visit us enough for us to consider a merge again. I mean we're losing players too :x

He can't really participate in any other scene, and he believes he'd have a good spot on ours.

I mean, it makes sense to me.

if the majority of the tournaments you attend are alabama tournaments I think it's fine for you to be considered for that power rankings list.
but
I don't know about kismet and biglou joining because they go to a lot of tournaments in their own state they're already recognized by their state. the point of a PR list is (if there is one) to recognize the top players in an area. Not just to make a list of who wins all their tournaments. (IMO at least).

I'll label myself as GA/AL for now. GA hasn't been hosting many tourneys as of recent, and I would really be interested in getting out to AL more, whatever they decide upon. I don't know about going for PR (I hate being acknowledged profusely), but I can keep rep for both states, regardless.

I remember when Winnar first started playing he was doing well with Snake, but he kind of stopped playing brawl and started messing with a lot of characters. I dont think he would have made the PR playing Captain Falcon, Peach, and Ness

Im pretty sure we actually did seriously discuss considering the few mississippi brawl players for our PR list. but we didn't really get anywhere with it because pretty much the only ms player left was winnar and he'd kinda quit brawl

at the time we added him as an honorable mention on our list not because he was wanting to be on it, but just because he continuously supported our tournaments.

Hmmm what can we as a state decide on for visiting a GA tournament?
Tbh, nothing. There is NOWHERE in GA that Mobile and Huntsville are both going to end up at short of a 70ish man tournament. There's probably nothing short of that many that Mobile alone is going to show up to.

Nope!

We both have smash scenes more than strong enough to support a ten man PR. What is the benefit of a merger?

yeah we arent really losing players tbh.
i think we be doin good with them montgomery tournaments weeeeeeeeeee in here
i think AL is doing better than it ever has here recently. but a merger would make for a stronger PR though and thatd be cool.

winnar always placed pretty good until he stopped coming then started playing melee way more. but he didnt start playing melee mroe until he quit coming.

I disagree with the merger. I mean seriously, I guess if i start going to GA, FL, NC in start wrecking face i guess i should be on there PR also. M2K in other pro should be on others PR cause they wreck when they go. Didn't M2K win Ausom 3d, I think he should be on the PR. And if there was a merger, I might as well not be on it, I cant travel to GA like that. Its a pretty go distance. That will defeat the purpose some. If not completely. Saint, skater, manko lives in pcola, those guys have no cho ice, but to come here and play us. Its cheaper and much closer and better on gas. Back in the day when it was just melee i had to go to central FL and Ga for tourneys and I went to TX once. There was no community, but that was a personal problem for me. I had to do what i had to do to get better. FL is a big *** state, but it has a community and a PR.

Like Shaslam said, we've been doing pretty good with attendance lately and having tourneys too.

Thing is Rag, I can't travel those distances. The Huntsville tourney was RIDICULOUS. I had to drive home starting at 11 PM after a tournament, I couldn't even stick around for GFs because I had to be home in the morning for work. I ended up home at 6 AM. I had work at 8 AM. Guess how ****ty my day was?
Honestly, I'd do it again though.
BUT, that was a 350 mile drive. So, an even longer drive would mean I'd have to call out of more than one day of work. And the CLOSEST people on the PR are in like Orlando, which is 450 miles.

It's logically impossible for me to participate in Florida's smash scene.

besides that, isn't a PR just a list of people in your area doing well?
I'm not in FL's area. I'm at LEAST 200 miles from it, if you want to count Tallahassee. And to be honest, they don't have the most active community, and no Power Ranked person in FL lives there. If you dont' count Tallahassee, Orlando is fourhundred thirty something.
That's DEFINITELY not in my area. Meanwhile, Montgomery is like 150 miles. Mobile is like 50 miles. Birmingham is like 230 miles, and Huntsville is the farthest at 350.
You aren't in GA's area. Your argument stands for Mississippi, and by all means, if you want to go to MS and start wrecking, I'll be the first to tell them that you deserve to be on the PR.

Ignore state lines, they suck. Just have area PRs.

Also, brawl players all suck at DI. I played Moogle and J00t in brawl at that Hville tournament, and they are the only people that have ever DI'ed out of my dair combos.

And Cam, I have a great venue if thats what you want to talk about. Be on facebook tonight at 7:30 to talk to me.

I can sympathize with your distance situation. But this isn't FL. I was just making an example if someone from another state if they start going to others people tpurneys and win and they have a PR of they're own. EX: If Cam starts winning south FL tourneys (lets he goes to there monthlies, and 2 big FL tourneys) he should be considered to be on their PR? I really don't think so when he has his own PR in his state. He's just and oos player who just happens to come and do good at their tourneys.

Dude we said nothing about NC. M2K visits on occasion and is able to get in touch with a healthy scene. Georgia goes to more tournaments in Alabama than some of we Alabamians do. Saintkai is limited to being being hella limited by area and is basically Mobile. We wouldn't be the first state to actually share a PR, I'm sure you guys know this. This doesn't mean

"Hey if GA merges with us this means we must attend every GA tournament"

We all know how expensive gas is and travel cost can be, we'd have to support at least a tournament or two, and I feel a hike up to Hunstsville would be a bit longer than a trip to Georgia for you guys.

I feel the concern for some of you are, "If we add these guys to our PR, we probably won't be on it anymore." If that's the case then step your game up, get better and get the position despite the bigger competition.
