I'm at that age now where my wisdom teeth are starting to come through.

The one on the left of my bottom jaw has been causing me a lot of pain. It did this a while ago, but eventually it went away, but now it's come back again. Although it was a bit better today than what it was a day or two ago, I went into the dentist and basically I have an infection back there.

SO, next week I'm getting tooth number 5 pulled out.

Previously, I've had 4 removed to have my braces put in and I remember that being a painful process at times. Especially when they miss whatever nerve they're trying to numb and have to inject that needle of their's 3 times to get it right :ohwell:

Braces weren't the worst thing ever, though they did hurt at times. At least I've got a smile to show for it.

Also, today I was told my two upper wisdom teeth are growing at odd angles and the left one will probably need to be pulled out as well (Actually, he reccomended I get both my top ones out rofl). At the very least, he said that come Christmas this year, I'll be back in the dentist chair, wanting it removed.

Still, there's worser fates than going to the dentist, such as not being able to go to the dentist, so I can't complain.

Also, I'm sure I haven't got the worst story to tell.

The braces that I have right now have caused a major gap to form in between my front two teeth. It's hideous! But apparently necessary -_-'

Teefers!

I had braces a few years back so my teeth are fairly straight, wish I could say the same about my smile :/
Oh and my teeth are really ****ing sharp (to drain the blood of the living):

Haha MM, my teeth are incredibly sharp too.
It's due to my naturally passionate carnivorous diet... and draining the blood of the living.

Oh, the joys of orthodontia.

I had braces for two and a half years. Meanwhile, I had a tooth stuck inside the roof of my mouth, so I had to get a tooth pulled to make room for that one. Then I had three surgeries to move that tooth down where it was supposed to be. And I got my wisdom teeth out after that.

Well, my teeth are fairly perfect now.

I would prefer to be put to sleep and have all of my wisdom teeth out at once it if it didn't cost a few thousand dollars to do it that way.

I've had 4 teeth pulled, and they just numbed me... you still feel the pressure of the tooth coming out, without feeling the pain. it's the worst feeling in the world.
And I have a tooth stuck in my mouth that won't come dwn. gona need surgery for it. How bad is that? Because im pretty worried. it'll be my first surgery..

Depends on where your tooth is located. Also, I was awake for my surgeries, and it wasn't painful or anything, it was mostly just annoying more than anything. And it felt kinda gross.

Don't worry, as a veteran of surgeries, you have my word that you'll come out fine. :bee:

As soon as I saw a 'Teeth' thread, I knew I'd see plenty of Lythium -_- LOL. I have a question, when do those pesky wisdom teeth start to come out? I'm turning 20 in 2 months and have no signs of pain or abnormalities in my mouth.

I wore braces for three years and I'm very happy with the results:).

Depends. If your mouth has room for your wisdom teeth, sometimes your dentist will just let them come in on their own. However, most people don't have room. And it really depends on the person. I think I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 18 or 19.

For some people, their wisdom teeth never cause problems! Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.

I got all of mine pulled out about two years ago and it went very smoothly. Didn't have to take any painkillers afterward and felt fine after a couple days.

One of my wisdom teeth has partially erupted but the other has shown no sign of appearing.
Vyse I wish you the least amount of pain possible and hope that at least it will be a short process. The dentist is my favorite doctor, the only doctor that doesn't cause my panic attacks.
.....
to go along with the teeth discussion, I am missing about four teeth (runs in family) and because of the extra space around my canines it looks like I have fangs ;)

wow all my post are wordy...sorry .

I had braces, but the people working at the orthodontist's office thought he said to take out the 'permanent' bottom retainer about a year afterwards. The actual dentist did not say this.

When I came back in a year later he was like, "Hey where did your retainer go?"

So now I have crooked bottom teeth after braces due to stupidity. >_>

Dude, that stuck tooth thing happened to me too. I had surgery when I was six to open up the roof of my mouth and pull it out. Needless to say that wasn't fun either. Stitches should not be on the roof of your mouth, no matter how important they are.

Also, i've had braces for a few years. Sad thing is after I took them off, they moved around again and got even worse. Right now, a few of my teeth are actually growing sideways and I have to go to some special dentist to try and pull the skin of my gums over it. For some reason, they don't know if braces will do anything for it or not.

I was pretty lucky. I didn't really need to get mine removed as I have plenty of room in my mouth; However, later in life they might start to crowd other teeth. So I had mine removed last Friday. It wasnt horribly painful afterwards, but I had plenty of pain meds to take care of it.

I took Valium to 'calm me down' the morning of. I don't really think it worked, but I'm pretty nonchalant about a lot of things. The last thing I remember is that they said "You might feel a little prick", then they put an IV in my arm, and I thought "Man, I hate IVs...." then I don't remember anything after that. I don't remember waking up, but I do remember walking out of the door to the waiting room, down the elevator, etc.

Might as well have 'em all taken out at once. See if they'll just knock you out and surgically remove them.

A lot of people have had issues with either method, but I personally had no problems whatsoever with getting them cut out of my face while passed out.

I had my wisdom teeth cut out for no reason at all <_<. Literally was at my dentist's and they told me I should get'em cut out, just in case they ever did start to be a problem but that they were fine. I was like, "if they're fine I'm not doing it." they went and told mom to get'em cut out. April 17 I think I got'em out (This year). Surgery was actually cool xD. It didn't hurt, I got injected in the arm, which causes me to break out around the injection every time and that was the most painful part. They reinjected me in the hand, got'em out in like seconds it seemed and I went home.
It's actually a good thing though xD. My parents gave me food that was cut up like mad and had me straight swallow it let me tell you, best experience ever. Also never hurt at all even after the painkillers wore off.

Ya, same thing as Blazer pretty much.

One time though I did wake up at 5am and my teeth were like ARGHHGHASHD and I had to go take pain pills. Then stay up because it was impossible to sleep.

and for some off reason, my front teeth hurt still. I don't know if it's just after effects of the surgery and it hasn't worn off yet.

I had my wisdom teeth done in November (all 4 impacted, all at once, got put to sleep.) I wouldn't even have known about it if my dentist didn't do an X-Ray and tell me. Like Blazer's dentist, he did say they weren't a problem now, but they would be eventually.

I didn't even think it was that bad. While I had to take Vicodin for most of the week (was down to half a pill by Friday), I was eating solid food the day after (soft stuff like cheese and pasta though), and I was back to eating normally after 3 days.

Were you put to sleep first?

Or was it just a needle fest?
They drugged me up. I wasn't quite unconcious, though I don't remember any of it past a point.

I remember they had me choose some music to listen to, and I chose the Beetles. Apparently, I was singing along with it.

I just happen to be one of the lucky ones who avoided getting braces BUT I had a cavity the size of a black hole. Unfortunately I couldn't get a filling, instead I had to get a cap. They didn't want to give me gas so I had to get a needle right below the tongue. Then it was DRILL DRILL DRILL, Finally they had to place my cap in. Did you know what he did? He forced the cap over my tooth, pushing it with all his might, I felt like my jaw was about to dismember. The numbing didn't help.....and....oh....the excruciating pain.

Now I learn to brush everyday ;D

I have a bit of a good story.
When I was in about Grade 5 (10 years old) I went to the orthodontist just for a bit of a checkup/ to see what I might need in the future.
At the time I had a wiggling tooth, it was one of the ones further up the back (excuse by lack of dental knowledge).. but the fact was, it was only a little tiny bit wiggly... only just loose.
So I rock up...
He sees the tooth, sees that it was a bit loose, then pushed it out with his thumb without any warning...
SO MUCH PAIN!

I've had so many teeth pulled...
My teeth suck. I couldn't get braces until i was 16 because of my baby teeth not completely fallen out yet. I had to get several pulled for various reasons, but mainly to get the adult ones to grow in correctly. I had to get surgery recently to take out a tooth, and attach a chain to on of my teeth that was growing in through the roof of my mouth to pull it to it's right place. I still have braces now and will for a while. I don't even want to think about my wisdom teeth.

I had braces for five years because of my stupid *** orthodontist and her malevolent ways of dragging out a process that should have only taken 2 years >_>. Originally, my two front teeth sorta stuck out and most of my other ones were slightly crooked. Starting in 2nd grade I had braces, all the way to 7th Grade D=
Still, it's REALLY nice getting compliments on my teeth now =)
Has anyone even tried that Invisalign? It looks....sketchy. Like, does it really work?

Oh, and has anyone tried those Crest Whitestrips? Do THEY work?

Just a tip, it's alot nicer if you get your braces off BEFORE you go to High School. I'm so glad I did, because high school =/= metal mouth.

EDIT: OH JESUS! Has anyone ever gotten a mold of your teeth made? That pink cement goo they use almost made me hurl in the orthodontist's face. Bleh, that stuff tasted like cement, rubber, and chalk all at the same time.

And the flouride they give you at the doctor is SEXY. I LOVE that stuff, and I love to drool all over myself while holding the sucky thing and staring out the window *awesome face*

Oh, and for anyone who hates the dentist, THIS VIDEO will make you LMAO:

They do, they're just really annoying to use.

On the wisdom teeth subject, mine were growing in sideways and compacting the rest of my teeth, so you can imagine how that felt..... x.x I got knocked out for the surgery, but the pain afterwards was so bad, I remember vomiting until my parents fed me the Vicodin the dentist had prescribed..... then I was out cold for the next few days.

It's all a blur now, lol.

Wisdom teeth? Oh goodness, I have enough tooth problems as is. Due to a cavity on the top left side of my mouth, I have to tilt my head to the right to avoid the cold pain.

I need to go to a dentist with, like, 600 bucks, and tell them to fix me up, 100%, good as new.

Ah man don't tell me that kaylo. I'm getting mine taken out too in a month or so.
Oh, uhhh, you'll be fine, I'm sure..... eh heh heh....

Jkjk, it wasn't that bad now that I look back on it.... aside from the hour or so right after I woke up from the surgery, I don't remember much since I was so drugged on painkillers. Thinking about it, the vomiting could have partially been from the anesthesia, but I do remember it hurting a lot.
