I do not like tap jump, but I leave it on so I can do shuttle loop out of my shield. Granted, it is possible to do so without tap jump by jumping with x or y and then immediately shuttle looping, but such is too much of a hassle for me right now (which is funny considering I spent much more time learning much more technical things in Melee).

Why would you do an aerial shuttle loop OOS? I do grounded ones.

Also I have tap jump off.

You can do up b out of shield with x or y? Oo
Rly cool, I didnt know that. xD

I have tab off.
It sucks, because you can time the UAir stringt better by yourself with tab jump off.
More control, yez. ^^

Oh, that.

You can do that but it's better to do grounded shuttle loops.

You can UpB out of shield by tapping your jump button then immediately hitting UpB and you will still do a grounded Shuttle Loop. I've heard (though I see little reason for why this would be true) that it's slower than with tap jump.

Well, I'm just assuming you can do that, because the reason shuttle loop out of shield doesn't work with tap jump off is that you need that jump to get you out of your shield; the shuttle loop itself doesn't get you out of your shield. The reason it works well is that you're already holding up to jump, so then all you need to do is press B and you've got your shuttle loop. Thus, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to do a shuttle loop out of shield by using x or y to jump and get out of the shield animation and then immediately shuttle loop before you leave the ground, producing the same effect if timed properly.

I'm confused. If you press x or y (jump) out of your shield and then shuttle-loop, won't you do a aerial shuttle loop instead of a grounded one? So is there any way to do a grounded shuttle loop OOS with tap jump off?

Cant I do a grounded shutle loop and using X or Y to come out of the shield?
Taping the control stick seems to be the same like taping the x or y button and fastly making an upb.

I explained this already, you can do grounded Shuttle Loop OOS without tap jump. Hold up, then slide your finger from Y to B as fast as possible.

Doing a grounded shuttle-loop OOS without tap jump is kinda hard. I am thinking of turning tap jump on just because of it would easier to do.

tap jump on is the way to go

shuttle loop out of shield is so fast and invincible and can punish tons of things, and to maximize the speed of it you need tap jump on

When you activate your jump, you have some grounded frames before you actually leave the ground. When your shield by jumping, you will exit your shield into these grounded frames. By activating shuttle loop during these frames, you will perform a grounded shuttle loop. However, the timing for this is much more difficult than simply leaving tap jump on and doing a shuttle loop out of shield via jumping with the analog stick, which is very easy to do. I agree with Plank in that the benefits of being able to do this by leaving tap jump on outweigh the (possible) downsides of leaving tap jump on, which is why, even though I do not like tap jump, I leave tap jump on.

The only downside of my setup (TJ off, switch Y and Z) is that I have to time OoS SL.

I don't change my controls, too.
Tap Jump on is too good.

I've never seen a reason to have tap jump off except like my first day playing snake because I was too crappy to DACUS without it consistently, it seems better to have it on for most characters to me. also I like never use SL out of shield, I think nair is probably my most commonly used jump out of shield action with MK

Well having Tap Jump on results in jumping by accident sometimes, which is really annoying to me since I always want to maximize how far I can leave the stage. Furthermore, with Z set to jump, it's easier to jump and attack simultaneously.

When using C-stick to attack with aerials, do you use it for all the aerials or just fair and bair? I only use it to space my fair and bair. I use the (A) button to attack for dair and uair. Do you guys advise me to use c-stick for all my aerials?

Id say leave tap jump on for mk. Its easier to do continous Uair combos with tap jump.

you can still do uair tap jump string things. just hold up on the control stick and press really fast a and x at the same time. for practice, turn your controller slightly sideways.

Play however you want to. Tap jump on or off, it's possible to do everything.

More things are easier as MK if you can tap jump, but you should play however you feel the most comfortable.

On problem: the A button is much better to do fast UAir strings than the c-stick.
