Im still mad RE got spirits but AA didn't :c
If there were AA spirits in the base game (which totally should've), I wouldn't be suffering like this.
And what's up with no TGS panel this year?
How come Capcom just brought the original trilogy to every platform and suddenly they will just let the franchise die?
They have the 2nd trilogy right there to do a copy-paste just like they did with the first one, and yet we haven't a single piece of information about the future of Ace Attorney.
Its saddening.

I don't know very well AA situation with Capcom but they said not long ago that they want bring back some IPs and taking more care of them. Capcom is doing really nice the last years (besides fighting games) and having in mind their recent declarations I would be really surprised if they had absolutely no plans for Ace Attorney.

Nothing's saying one of the unannounced games isn't Ace Attorney-related, and of course he DOES have a shot at getting in as DLC! Never give up!

One thing I generally notice is that, apart from some unusual exceptions (e.g. Bomberman, Fatal Frame, etc), specific third-party series tend to not have somewhat major amounts of content (or have much of any content period) unless they come with a character in the process. As in, they literally don't exist in any form until their main character joins the fight.

Also, we got a bunch of games that currently don't have spirits, Three Houses, Astral Chain, Luigi's Mansion 3.

Unless some severe spirit team incompetence is involved, something is possibly being planned.

I still believe 3H got no spirits whatsoever because FE has a gaccha to celebrate the releases of new entries. My main guess as to why Pokemon didn't do the same is that Go still has a good...3-4 generations of catching up before getting to the new Pokes, and Masters was a disaster from what I've read. I'll give you Astral Chain absence is odd after Daemon x Machina got a boards around release though.

So to recap, DLC 5 is not:
Geno
Doom Guy
Dante
Any Resident Evil rep
Lloyd
Ezio
Rayman
A Gen 8 Pokemon
Falcom rep
Nippon Ichi rep

That's uh.... quite the list

No ubisoft in general iirc, and now we have no Tales of character, they sure are trimming down the popular picks huh.

aye, I had no idea, but to be fair, aren't alolan Pokemon also in Go? Maybe region variants from older Pokemon are implemented faster?

I can't see how the mobile game departments would affect what the Smash team is doing. Otherwise, we would have seen a King Boo (LM version) spirit by now, even though Mario Kart Tour's Halloween event has ended about a month ago.

He already is a spirit though, alongside E. Gadd, the polterpup and poltergust. I guess they could have added some of the boss ghosts, but most of the important stuff from LM is covered in its spirits already
and from what I've heard it's not like the new game adds anyone super important to the lore of the franchise to matter all that much, and I guess the art direction isn't different enough to make a brand new Luigi spirit or something

for sure, but I don't think their absence through an event hints that there might be a LM rep coming in the future.
I'm surprised the supposed sudden disconfirmations are making people believe in Sora and Steve again, I guess they aren't impossible (well, I'd argue Sora would be all sorts of nightmares to properly represent and make a deal with Disney if the constant lost of their license for series and games is anything to go by), but I'd have guessed they'd at least start moving onto post FP hoping given the addition of Hero and Banjo right now.

Here's another nice track from the SiIvaGunner KFAD2 while we get really excited about Phoenix's chances as potential FP5:

Sabi has decided to stop asking, so Phoenix will remain alive until we know who it is.

I am thinking it is Solaire, Dovahkiin, or Jonesy personally - but the man has a chance. I am actually somewhat hopeful about it.

I still maintain that the next character is so unexpected, fans wouldn't think they were possible to be considered. It doesn't seem like it's a character that's from a particularly known property.

An avatar character from Fortnite.
The first part could refer to a series like Ace Attorney, though. Among others like Layton and Dark Souls within the context of Smash.

I'm actually hopeful it may be Phoenix. Everything fits too well.
He's the kind of absurd "not actual fighter" character Sakurai loves to make playable. Like :ultrob:, :ultwiifittrainer: or :ultpiranha:
Also the stage, Spirit Board and music selection they have been doing for this pass fits the series like a glove. It's too good to let it pass.
Of course I can say the same with any series... I'm too biased...
But seeing how cooperative Capcom is and how well regarded Ace Attorney is... I will HAVE FAITH. If it's not him. Well... it's not over. But who knows if future DLC will receive the same treatment as this pass.

P.S: Don't forget about Vergeben. That guy has no remorse and WILL spoil the character if he can.

I'm talking something near the level of :ultjoker: unexpected. As in, they didn't get talked about very much.

I can't explain it, it's this feeling I've got. I just know that Sak is going to throw a "experimental wild card last character in a pattern" curveball at us.

I actually remember Joker and Banjo where both of my impossible wants when DLC was announced and I expected all 1st parties promoting upcoming games after the final Smash direct haha, funny looking back at it.
Outside of expecting more 3rd parties given how the DLC went so far, I can't give any guesses on whose next. I want to stay optimistic on Phoenix despite TGA not feeling like the right place for him, but all the characters I'd have said where fit for such a reveal are seemingly disconfirmed (at least for fighter 5).
I guess in terms of sheer popularity, Jonesy or Steve would make sense? But I'm not really feeling them, for no other reason than my gut telling me so.

Nah, I don't believe even Steve and Jonesy are a guarantee for this spot. Besides, they'll probably save the former for later since we just got B-K.

All I can say is to expect the completely unexpected. Once tomorrow blows over, the final countdown to the VGAs will start.

In the meantime, I'm sure that someone from here is going to watch Verge's every word.

Are we 100% certain there will even be an announcement at TGA.
Nope! FP 5 could very well be revealed at February 2020 for all we know.

You tell me. That's like the second time a VGAs account has brought up the Joker Moment.

Also, Ultimate did get nominated for several categories, so it's less out of place than last year, and all...

Edit: Posted wrong thing, fixed.

it's mostly popular guessing given the reveal last year and sabis teasing regarding what announcements the event might involve. I originally thought that was kind of a predictable thing to do as lots of people would be expecting it, but I guess I just jumped the bandwagon given they usually reveal a character a month or two before their release.
Also what kirby said above.

Not really. The next character reveal could be at the Game Awards since Joker was revealed last year, but we don't know for sure. The reveal could instead happen earlier next week, around Ultimate's anniversary. Or it won't happen until January.

It would be a really good maneuver from Capcom to announce a new game close to a hypothetical Wright reveal for FP5.
If Wright is announced for FP5 at the Game Awards, it would be the perfect time for Capcom to ride that wave of newfound limelight and announce AA7 to a much larger audience.

Well the Game Awards would be the perfect scenario for that, even if Wright isn't FP5.
It would be a good move, specially if Capcom wants to push AA more outside of Japan.

Very true. My logic was along the lines of if Phoenix is announced for Smash first, then people will have their eyes on Ace Attorney already by the time AA7 rolls around.

I'm hearing Capcom is revealing two games for Jump Festa 2020, so that could be likely.
