Godot color - as bitter as the coffee he consumes
Black suit all over - reference to his great ancestor/Mia Fey - could work both ways
Yellow suit, blue tie - Athena colors
Pink suit, purple tie - College Phoenix (loosely)
Orange suit, brown tie - Larry Butz colors
Purple suit, white tie - Maya Fey (loosely)

Edgeworth if he gets echo'd:

White vest, blue cravat - Franziska von Karma colors

How cool would it be to have a trailer with both Phoenix AND Monokuma from Danganronpa? Monokuma could be about to inflict some nasty punishment on a character and Phoenix could "OBJECTION" the hell out of that and burst into the courtroom.

I’m mostly focus my efforts towards Professor Layton when it comes to 3rd party characters, but I’d absolutely love to have Phoenix as well.

Also an Edgeworth echo would be amazing.

I made a moveset!

Spoiler: Normal attacks

Neutral (A-A-A):

-> taps on the piece of paper twice (one hit each), and the final hit is him "presenting" the evidence

Side:

-> points his finger

Up:

-> agressively lifts an autopsy report folder upwards

Down: Agressively slams the autopsy report

Dash: Throws a plethora of evidence papers. Similar to one of his attacks in UMvC3

Nair:

-> For all Air attacks, Trucy Wright appears. On the Nair she summons a bird from her hat.

Uair:

-> For the Uair, Trucy summons Mr. Hat, headbutting the enemy upwards

Dair:

-> Trucy summons the infamous Magic Panties, slamming them downwards.

Bair: On this one, Trucy summons various playing cards behind her and Phoenix.

Grab: Psyche-locks

-> Psyche-locks appear and traps the opponent! Up to 5 can appear, the more they have, the stronger it is. Maya Fey appears to support, more as a visual element (similar to Toad in Peach/Daisy's grab). The pummel consists in the Magatama glowing and the chains getting tighter, and the throws are regular stuff, with the chains breaking. Randomly and less often, Pearl Fey appears to support instead (it's purely a visual thing)

Spoiler: Smash attacks

Fsmash:

-> a table slowly appears in front of him. Upon charged, Phoenix does his famous desk slam

Usmash:

-> he "charges" a sneeze and sneezes more upwards

Dsmash:

-> the Judge silhouette appears behind, and he unleashes his gavel. Phoenix makes his shocked expression upon impact.

Spoiler: Special attacks

Neutral: Badge Flash

-> Phoenix "charges" his badge, and upon "presenting" it, gives damage and minor knockback. If it's fully charged and hits on the sweetspot, it stuns the enemy

Side: Mood Matrix

-> Athena Cykes appears with the Mood Matrix! It is "chargeable" but in a sense you select the mood you want, with each being represented by a element (Happy = wind, sad = water, rage = fire, shock = electric). Damage and knockback greatly vary from each other, with water doing 0% damage but pushing the enemy, while fire deals the most damage but 0 knockback

Up: Ladder or Stepladder?

-> Yep, it needed to have this reference! Basically a floating ladder/stepladder appears and he climbs it, giving vertical recovery distance. Does not enter helpless state, and if he hasn't used one of his jumps before doing this attack, he can do so after

Down: Objection!

-> the iconic Objection! Basically works like a regular counter

Spoiler: Final Smash

-> Divination Séance. The enemies are trapped into it, with their names appearing in the screen. If the attack won't KO them, "Smash" appears under each one. If it will, "KO" appears. Then a huge "Objection!" flashes on the screen, ending the attack and knocking the enemies away

Spoiler: BONUS: Apollo Justice Echo Fighter!

Apollo would work pretty much exactly like Phoenix, save for visual differences:

• All of his animations would change to fit Apollo's ingame animations (particularly the desk slam)
• His grab would not involve the Magatama: a huge version of his bracelet would appear around the enemy. And instead of Maya or Pearl, Ema Skye appears to help him. Other than that, it'd be identical

4 of his costumes would be based on his Spirit Of Justice appearance, while the other four would vary.

• Regular (Spirit Of Justice attire)
• Red (Miles Edgeworth colors)
• Green (similar to his UMvC Godot costume, but with the red visor added)

• Original (Original trilogy, "Old-school attorney" attire)
• Disbarred (The Apollo Justice appearance, "hobo Phoenix")
• The Tiger (Furio Tigre, the Spirit Of Justice costume DLC)
• Feenie (the "P" sweater from Trials & Tribulations)

Apollo:

• Regular (his appearance since Apollo Justice)
• Jacket + bandage (from Dual Destinies)
• Blonde + Red and Black (Sissel from Ghost Trick colors. Similar to that costume Phoenix had)
• Darker blonde + Darker red and purple (Klavier Gavin colors)
• Red haired + Yellow and Blue (Athena Cykes colors)
• Black and white (Simon Blackquill colors)
• White haired + White, yellow and red (Nahyuta Sahdmadhi colors)
• School Days (Spirit Of Justice DLC)

just replace all the attorney stuff with spirit stuff and you could probably build a moveset that functions much the same way

On another note, I think Phoenix Wrights neutral B should absolutely be him shouting Objection. Only because I want that to be Kirbys copy ability. It just makes sense.

On the contrary, if they went with the more modern design of Phoenix from Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, they should use Objection! 2013. That theme is sort of the main theme of Mr. Wright nowadays.

Oh, and the trailer should use the anime-esque designs of the cutscenes from the new titles.

I don't think anyone has suggested this yet but what if on the Ace Attorney stage you could start an "Investigation" by doing a Smash Taunt as Phoenix?
Basically Phoenix's version of the Codec Calls and Palutena's guidance. Phoenix is on the left and Maya is on the right and they would converse with each-other on their thoughts on current battle. Also I feel like this would also be an excellent way to fit in even more Ace Attorney fan service. Swap out Maya with Gumshoe, Edgeworth, Ema, or even Apollo and Athena in some of the conversations.

If any other franchise is going to get codec like easter eggs Ace Attorney is probably the best option. If Phoenix gets into Smash that is and boy do I hope for that to happen.

I always thought it was strange when Phoenix got into Marvel vs. Capcom 3, that he had so few unique conversations with other characters. He really seems like the guy who’d have something to say about everyone.

I was wondering, the obvious choice for an Ace Attorney stage is the Courtroom....but if you couldn't pick that as the Ace Attorney stage (or Ace Attorney got two stages, not that that would happen but humor me here) what location in the Ace Attorney series would you make into a stage?

The Prosecutor’s Office could have the hot air balloon from AAI2’s last case as a stage hazard.

Other ideas:
The bridge from Bridge to the Turnabout.
Something taking place during Lamiroir & The Gavinners’ concert in Turnabout Serenade.
Gatewater Land from the Kidnapped Turnabout.
The Embassy from Turnabout Ablaze.
Kosmos Space Center from Turnabout for the Future.

(In general I feel like AAI has pretty great options for maps because the locations are big and sprawling.

That just gave me an idea. What happens if the next Nintendo Direct concides with one of the days of the Tokyo Game Show? What if it reveals a new Ace Attorney game and the same time announces Phoenix Wright in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?!
