Not that I'd be against more sea slugs, but me being a hipster with a Finding Nemo DVD set I have another idea in mind.

Look at the pretty Spanish Dancer.

It's a free-swimming slug. Maybe it's no Dragon Slug, but it's still pretty cool in it's own right.

As for what would make a good starter, I settled on "lungfish" quite a long time ago. Due to my limiting myself a bit too hard on ideas, however, it's the ONLY thing I've settled on. . .

That makes me even MORE mad he isn't a fairy type

I was thinking the Sun legend would've been Fire/Grass...both of these types as a strong association with the sun in the games especially since both grass and Fire types benefit from Sunny Day...

The moon would be fairy/Dark for the same reason, fairies and dark types have a strong connection to the moon as well...Whether it's through evolving at night or moon stones or straight up coming from the moon...plus dark types can use Moonlight, and fairies use Moonblast...

you're right. i didn't think about that. those are some really interesting type combinations. lets see what plays out tomorrow.

So what's the general consensus here regarding Pokemon Sun/Moon?

I'm intrigued at the moment - so I'll wait until the official announcement is made during the Pokemon Direct. Right now I'm just going through Victory Road so I can finally say that I've finished Y.

In regards to the 'starters,'
Fire bunny - Wouldn't mind. If I get a female, I'll call it Reisen.
Grass beaver (?) - Wait and see.
Water buffalo - Literally taking it literally.

(I don't actually like the idea of water buffalo, though.) I also have something against a fire bunny. I don't believe it would evolve into a major badass, which often is the main role for the starter in your team.

Get ORAS. You have your majestic grass type that has blades with sceptile and your tanky brawler with Mega Swampert

Pokemon Sun and Moon... Hmm... Well, I have only have a few things on my mind about it right now.

First of all, I like the symbols for both games, very nice.

And lastly, it'll be very interesting to see what exactly this game is about. Whether or not it'll still be gen 6, kalos. etc. I hope it's at least a new region, I thought kalos was lacking a bit as a region, though I did love how they based it off Paris, and the game was very beautiful. It's just that it didn't really have that many special locations to it. And that's what I tend to like most about regions, really exotic areas and such. Usually places where you'd find legendaries or other oddities. If kalos had more adventure and mystery to it, it would've easily been one of my favorite regions.

But, they could add more to it, I suppose. Hell, the sevii islands alone are why I easily prefer FR/LG over the originals. I don't know why, but they made kanto feel bigger and less bland. To the point where even the mainland felt a lot more fun.

It took until Gen VI for me to choose the grass starter. I like Chesnaught, but it's also because I found the competition to just be really inferior. Though apparently even prior to Smash Greninja was the most popular, so what do I know.

I also just don't like Grass Pokemon and rarely even have them on my team in the first place.

Ok so my fav starters per gen.

Gen 1: Charizard
Gen 2: Typhlosion
Gen 3: Blaziken
Gen 4: Torterra
Gen 5: Samurott
Gen 6: Greninja

Gens 1-3 I loved the fire starters, but then Gen 4 rolled around with the abomination that is Infernape and I got off the Fire train and went with Torterra instead. I haven't gone back since then, as Samurott and Greninja far outclass their competition, for me at least. Here's hoping we get an actual good fire starter with Sun and Moon, if they really are a new gen and not 6.5.

At first it was just because Gyarados does everything Feraligatr can do, but better - AND you get a free shiny one you can soft reset until it's perfect.

But eventually Typhlosion became one of my most used pokemon, therefore my favorite fire pokemon

Also meganium sucks

I completely disagree with that. Generation IV was my favorite generation of the starters. All were competitively viable. Except Torterra, who is still cool regardless.

Empoleon being a defensive powerhouse with lots of resistances and Infernape being a strong mixed attacker.

Torterra had a type combination that was good for grass types who sometimes are limited to only normal and grass attacks.

Gen 5 starters all sucked for me

I found Typhlosion to be more useful due to it learning electric type attacks...Sneasel and Typlosion were all I needed against Lance in Crystal...
I had plenty of other great water types to choose from whether it's Gyarados, Poliwrath, Kingler, or ...

I mean it's a giant flowery dinosaur with a dopey face, but I think it's one of the better grass Pokemon out there in terms of design. It's just a starter that went for the prettier look over the tougher look. I'm looking forward to seeing MegaMeganium more than the other two, and not just for the name haha.

And as far as gens go: 1 > 2 > 3 > 5 > 6 > 4

I found Meganium to be pretty sub-par compared to the other two...Which is pretty much why I almost never used it...Typhlosion was my starter pretty much 95% of the time, and most of that 5% was Feraligatr...I think I just liked Typhlosion too much...

I'd say: 3>2>1>6>4>5
